Kangaroorex
Thanks @Skallabjorn I have something new to check out! Not to mention after the apocalypse I have a good idea of which store to dig through the rubble and scavenge from Sounds like something I'd like to give a try.

I can also recommend these as sweet, crunchy, dry snacks. The Kachori and Samosas have a filling with beans, nuts, and raisins. Very tasty. The Bhakharvadi are like little crunchy, spicy cookies. Also mildly sweet. Bring these to your game night and watch the spice fiends mouths water, and the spice haters eyes water, Edited August 13, 2021 by Skallabjorn

ManvsMini
Happy Friday... Friday the 13th!! *scary music* Here's your bit of trivia for August 13th: 1898 – German astronomer Carl Gustav Witt discovered 433 Eros, the first near-Earth asteroid to be found. 1913 – First production in the UK of stainless steel by Harry Brearley, producing the martensitic variety of stainless steel.. 1961 – East Germany closed the border between the eastern and western sectors of Berlin to thwart its inhabitants' attempts to escape to the West, and construction of the Berlin Wall began. 11

Personally, I recommend the Ashe (housewares) approach. Classic 1970s road behemoth, shotguns and ammo in trunk, and a working knowledge of machine tools. Groovy.

Most Indian markets stock them, and I have even found them in mainstream grocers, Walmart, and Big Lots. The shelf stable bags of veg masala and jaipur curry are a staple here. I've also found some dry rice/dal/grain cups you just add hot water too, like noodles in a cup. If you're up for a little bit of cooking, get a packet of sambar powder, add water, and a handful of frozen mixed vegetables.

The one Indian food I love, but (since my diabetes diagnosis) can only rarely eat, and even then , only in limited amounts. is Gulab Jamun. Imagine Dunkin Donuts plain cake Munchkins, literally DROWNED in sweet syrup. So tasty, but massive amounts of sugars. I can have 1, IF I go and exercise immediately after, and no more than 1 in a week. But sooooooo good.
Kangaroorex
Anyone know if irradiation of food to provide shelf stable food is still a thing? In my first job we worked with a number of companies to develop the technology (long story but the site I worked for started development in 1979 when they discovered a lunch with a well sealed ham sandwich and cookie that was left in a radioactive area in 1954 and it was untouched by time!) But I haven't seen much since the early 2000s when there were labels saying 'irradiated to extend shelf life' I'd be curious to see if the tech survived the stigmata of being NUCLEAR!

Ingredients are (from their website): Black Tea, Ginger Root, Cinnamon, Black Pepper, Cloves, Natural Flavors, Cardamom. Nice!

I looked and looked but wasn't seeing it. Maybe I need new glasses? Along with new shoes. I got home and saw one of them was coming apart. I've had them for four months and haven't worn them the whole time. This was after: -Waking up stupid early due to the heat -Being late to work because the light rail went from "on time" to "about 30 minutes late" in the time it took me to walk to the station -Was almost run over when I tried to cross the street walking to the office -Was almost bitten by a dog about 100' from the office because the owner didn't think to keep his dog under control -Had my trainee not show up. Because they weren't suppose to. And my "comms" people at work can't actually communicate. -Rounded the corner less than 90 minutes into my shift and almost ran into the police investigating a stabbing. And had the cops just kind of check out after looking around took too long. - The highlight of this incident was the homeless woman laying on the ground, refusing to move as the put up the crime scene tape around her. She woke up, started yelling at the cops, and TORE DOWN THE CRIME SCENE TAPE on her way out. I had to grab one of the ends for the cop so he could kick her back out of the crime scene. She was "this close" to getting cuffed and stuffed. And now I have to walk to the bank in the smoke and the heat... I want this summer to be over so, so badly.

Maybe I need new glasses? I think it's going around. While out running errands yesterday I saw a shop whose big sign read "Haircuts and Such". but even with my glasses at first look I swear it read "Haircuts and Suck." My first thought was "wow, the pandemic has really forced businesses to offer a broader range of services." Luckily I reread the sign... though the "and Such" still leaves it a bit ambiguous.
Glitterwolf
We had some leftover Limes, so I baked a cake with them.. ( Lime juice, grated lime peel, eggs, sugar, butter and selfraising flour. It's no cooling off so we can have it with our coffee later.
