Dangit, one day I'll be around to post on the first page of one of these threads!

Any ways, today is one of those days when I'm glad I rent.

Landlord sent someone round to re-certify the electric wiring, and it failed spectacularly. Got someone else coming around next week to figure out just how much needs replacing.

1780 – New England's Dark Day, an unusual darkening of the day sky (so dark that candles were needed from noon until the next night), was observed over the New England states and parts of Canada. It's believed to have been caused by a combination of forest fire smoke, a thick fog, and cloud cover.

Close. The fire was a side effect of the Binding of an ancient horror by a confederation of shamans in what would become Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario Canada judging by scar marks on the trees there. Although bound, it still exerts a certain power at times, which tends to result in missing persons in the area.

Also of note is that thirteen years later in 1793 the first recorded instance of the "New England Vampire Panic", the exhumation of Rachel Burton by her husband Deacon Capt. Isaac Burton in an attempt to save his new wife from Rachel's "unnatural attentions". Although "The abomination was destroyed in the prescribed manner", this came too late to save his second wife and ushered in a hundred year period where the undead terrorized New England.

Assuming that Rachel Burton was the first of the vampires, she would have been ten years old when the Dark Day came, and the possibility exists that some stray shred of the bound entity managed to taint her in some fashion, leading to the creation of the New England vampire lineage. There is also the possibility that remnants of the Salem witches may also have been involved, as folklore has witches often able to return in vampire-like form unless they are burnt,  and since the authorities favored hanging, undead witches may well have been lurking about, possibly having made pact with the entity bound in Canada. It is of a certain interest that Rachel's last words were a determined statement to her husband that "I'll be with you Always!" which if either the "entity tainted" theory or "remnant of witch coven theory" holds true, she would've been more than capable of....

Whoo, got shipping notice for my Para Bellum stuff hubby got for me.  Seems they use more than just FedEx and Purolator for Canadian orders though, as they shipped mine Canpar...  The second least reliable courier service where I live.  Well, here's hoping they act just like the last two times they delivered something to me - buzz, give me my box, and all's said and done....

...And not what sooooo many reviews of their local facility have said, because the whole point in ordering direct and paying a little extra was so it wouldn't go CanadaPost (I'd rather not try walking the 2km home with a large, 15lb box that's the size of my chest).  Guess I'll find out on Friday.

If minotaurs had pro wrestlers, I'm sure one of them would be Killer Cowalski.

... sometimes when my mind wanders, it goes weird enough places I strongly consider it might be better to put it on a short leash.
