I think that's the last time I entertain Hobby Sesrch's small packet surface mail shipping.  It's been two months now, and what I ordered I've seen come into stock twice on Hobby Link Japan... And HLJ for the same price (more or less) ships it EMS.

What's in the box isn't critical I wanna build it this instant stuff, but at the same time boy do I just want the package to show up!

Yah there a bunch of things I'd like to get internationally, but I've held back on the account of shipping problems. I don't mind the wait as I have fillers to entertain me till it gets here.

I have been feeding the squirrels and birds that visit our garden.

Sometimes I'm late putting nuts on the feeders, I've had squirrels who looked at it, looked through the window at me and then at the feeder.

Somehow I end up putting nuts on that feeder then....

I wonder...

And why the heck am I actually paying good hobby money to buy nuts???

It's because of people like Traveler that I only game with people I know. He sounds like a real piece of work...

I don't play 5e. I don't really want to (unless SpellJammer drops) but I wouldn't join a game of it. Because I don't play fantasy settings anymore. However, I don't rag on it. It is what it is and I'm happy people enjoy it. Like, it's not that hard...

Again, I liked the guy, he is fellow gamer & he was a friend & he knows how to play the game, but his obsession with the older systems & then trying to make rules the way he wants them ran (he started one session with a print out about improving holding actions...wth?). Also he was so stuck with D&D being only medieval & other things just made him annoying. (there was a riddle in one game that had the word "donor" in it. It was one I didn't see the solution either so I just threw it out, but after the game I saw it & contacted everyone, just to show them the answer. His response was "Well, there were no donors in those times, so we wouldn't have known that answer, so it was a good thing to just toss it....ok Mr FUNguy......) Anther thing I forgot to mention was he thought people were threatening him, if they moved their hands in front of him, say reach over to grab a mini that was on the map in front of him. He told me twice that happened to him (of course both people were people he didn't like, so yah take that for what it's worth). I gave the guy the benefit of doubt for awhile, but after he told he wasn't going to help Bear on the account of him being a "monster" I had enough of him. Players & PCs may have differences but the whole idea of D&D & playing rpgs is to come together to overcome challenges & such. I wasn't having any of that.

While D&D is popular & even having the FLGS, it's hard to find players here. I think due to the fee to play, makes people not want to show up, but the FLGS has to make money somehow, so I don't mind paying the fee (granted, I don't due to I'm running, but I'll pay along with everyone else when I'm a player). My home game was free to play with a bunch of friends. I guess travel player took his ball with him & went home. I think my game will be better without him thou, as I've had no confrontations with any of my other players. Heck, if the 3rd guy (a good friend with a big heart) can make it on Saturdays more often, we'd just continue playing,  but with his position at a group home (I'm pretty sure he volunteers for it as it's not his primary job) I've just got to put that game on hold know. Hopefully, I can contact a couple guys I know from the FLGS & see if they wanna join up.

Does that mean we are going to have assorted animals drunk on Vodka and high on a cinnamon infused sugar rush rampaging around in a hunt for Taco's?

My recent encounter with the squirrels suggests this wouldn't be too much of a stretch.

donor (n.)

mid-15c., donour, "one who gives or bestows, one who makes a grant," from Anglo-French donour, Old French doneur (Modern French donneur), from Latin donatorem (nominative donator) "giver, donor," agent noun from past participle stem of donare "give as a gift," from donum "gift" (from PIE root *do- "to give").

As "person from whom blood is removed for transfusion," by 1875; in reference to those living or dead from whom organs or tissues are removed for transplantation, by 1918 (originally of guinea pigs).

I mean, depending on the context, the Latin root suggests that people have been giving things to other people for a long time.  Personally, for flavor, I wouldn’t use a riddle about organ donation in a D&D game…

…well done, whoever you are.

Wasn't me.

I've never used fakebook, for many reasons.  Some of those reasons were confirmed and reinforced by what was reported over the weekend.

I do concur with your sentiment.

Not it.

Twitter is a sea of panic and finger-pointing right now.. I just hit it with a bread painting, but I don't think that'll calm anybody down.

Good coverage here, may be too many TLAs for some folks.  It's not just FB, it's ripling outward to companies/services that rely on FB.

TLDR: FB techs broke stuff at remote locations and are having issues getting it fixed since they have to be there in person.  Essentially, all their servers are offline.

Add in last week's root certificate expirations and things are a mess right now.

Ugh.

Air is smokey today.  Not from the "usual suspects", radio says it is coming from the "KNP Complex" near Visalia, California, which means Kings National Park.

South of Yosemite on the western slopes of the Southern Sierra Nevada Mountains.

"Smoke  - gets - in - your - eyes!"

Addendum:  Just got a call from furniture people who will be delivering a new double recliner couch tomorrow.  Here between noon and two pm.

Theater seating for the family room!

I believe I mentioned I was taking a brain break from painting for a while. It is much needed. I've received the BoGW and will be dealing with that before my birthday on Saturday. I should also probably get that Halloween gift exchange gift in the mail at the same time.

In the meantime, I am using this time to work on writing. I have started up a new (i.e. another) Tumblr for writing stuff. It is public, which is nerve wracking for me because I hardly ever share my writing with people. I'm trying to go out on a limb and see if I can get some constructive feedback but, alas, so far the only person who's seen it is Husband. And I guess I'm okay with that for now. I'm doing an October daily prompt thing that is, I think, going well. I am a day behind because I slept basically all of the last 3 days so that threw things off. Trying to play catch up today. I've got yesterday's done and up, I just need to finish up today's and get it posted.

If we change the spelling slightly, and add an umlaut, we get:

döner (n.)

Short for döner kebab, tasty sandwich of Turkish origin that is served all over Germany. Comes with either garlic or spicy sauce.

I gave thanks to the Turkish immigrants for bringing that with them every day I lived in Germany.

Funny you should ask, there's a rumor going around that hackers want 700 billion to keep FB shut off.....

Sounds reasonable.

I'll kick in Five Dollars, that covers my share, and the share of four other people if you figure 700 billion divided by the planetary population.
