If we change the spelling slightly, and add an umlaut, we get:

döner (n.)

Short for döner kebab, tasty sandwich of Turkish origin that is served all over Germany. Comes with either garlic or spicy sauce.

I gave thanks to the Turkish immigrants for bringing that with them every day I lived in Germany.

And then we have the Newfies to thank for adding the I in there (or was it one of the other maritime provinces, I forget), to get the most glorious of messy foods - the Donair.

In the meantime, I am using this time to work on writing. I have started up a new (i.e. another) Tumblr for writing stuff. It is public, which is nerve wracking for me because I hardly ever share my writing with people. I'm trying to go out on a limb and see if I can get some constructive feedback but, alas, so far the only person who's seen it is Husband. And I guess I'm okay with that for now. I'm doing an October daily prompt thing that is, I think, going well. I am a day behind because I slept basically all of the last 3 days so that threw things off. Trying to play catch up today. I've got yesterday's done and up, I just need to finish up today's and get it posted.

Have you thought about joining a writer's group?  Sadly, I can't point you in the right direction to find one, but maybe someone else can.

I've been listening to drive time radio via the internet for SoCal.

They had an oil pipeline rupture over the weekend off of Huntington Beach [Surf City USA] that is still leaking and now they are reporting Lightning Strikes closing even more beaches on either side of those already closed.

Losses are already projected to be in the tens of millions of dollars.

I think you can imagine the disaster scenario should lightning hit the wrong patch of oil slicked ocean.

What's next?

Sharknado?

Does that mean we are going to have assorted animals drunk on Vodka and high on a cinnamon infused sugar rush rampaging around in a hunt for Taco's?

Wait... Is it Tuesday again already?

donor (n.)

mid-15c., donour, "one who gives or bestows, one who makes a grant," from Anglo-French donour, Old French doneur (Modern French donneur), from Latin donatorem (nominative donator) "giver, donor," agent noun from past participle stem of donare "give as a gift," from donum "gift" (from PIE root *do- "to give").

As "person from whom blood is removed for transfusion," by 1875; in reference to those living or dead from whom organs or tissues are removed for transplantation, by 1918 (originally of guinea pigs).

I mean, depending on the context, the Latin root suggests that people have been giving things to other people for a long time.  Personally, for flavor, I wouldn’t use a riddle about organ donation in a D&D game…

It was a word riddle. I can't recall the exact words but it was something about changing a word around & you get donor & door out of it. It was the general principle of the whole thing, as he was just set in his ways vs having a good time for all.

I have in the past. I just haven't found one that's quite the right fit for me yet. I do have at least a couple of people I talk to semi-regularly about writing but have yet to talk to them about this yet since I just started it over the weekend.

Sounds like it wasn't a good match for him.  I've met a fair number of people who confuse D&D with history, and a few too many who confuse it with real life.  Hope you can find new players soon. Maybe winter will drive people to look for indoor entertainent.

So I'm behind (about a month's worth of watching) on my weekly watching of AEW's Weds night wrestling show, mainly cause, I'm at the FLGS for game night that night so I record it & just did get around to watching the show. Since I'm so behind I wasn't able to watch their new Friday night show as well, so I've using DirecTV's on demand for that one. Now they just had a big ppv over Labor Day weekend. Since I'm behind + I was at RCon that weekend, I just told my wife to record it for me, which she did. I'm finally up to that ppv watching & I go to recordings & it's not in there...ok then? I cycle through it a few times & again nothing. I go to purchases, which there have only been 3 (the last 3 AEW PPVs) & I select the one I just got. It says "deleted by G." on it. Who the elf is G? I'm assuming it's prob a DirecTV tech that goes & deletes out cash purchase ppv so you can't watch them multiple times, but then again, I might be wrong. It might have been someone in my house, but why would it say "deleted by G."????

All, I know is I'm thoroughly PO'ed at this one. Major event & what I saw in the 1 PPV I've ordered, some of the best performances that AEW puts on are their PPV stuff + I was really looking forward to this one. After dealing with DirecTV's "help" before on the last ppv I recorded, I'm kissing this one goodbye. That makes 2 ppv I've ordered, handed the cash over to my wife (it's her account) & have come out empty handed. I'm gonna give em one more ppv, if I'm not able to watch that, they can kiss my business goodbye.
