Ok, a little late, but time for Thursday's edition of trivia for October 7th:

  • 1885 – Niels Bohr, Danish physicist and philosopher, and Nobel Prize laureate for contributions to atomic structure and quantum theory, was born.

  • 1919 – KLM, the flag carrier of the Netherlands, was founded. It is the oldest airline still operating under its original name. (And serves tasty sandwiches in-flight.)

  • 2008 – Asteroid 2008 TC3 impacted on the Earth over Sudan, the first time an asteroid impact event was detected prior to its entry into earth's atmosphere.

Woke up to discover a nice drizzling rain and that my yard now resembles Falkreath Hold...

After breakfast I'll have to check to make sure there aren't any Imperial spies lurking about. The only thing that worries me is that the rabbits under the shed may have set up a Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary....

M.E.O.W. would NEVER stoop to such evil....okay, we might be considering it...[Okay, it's freaking brilliant, Section 2 is on it!]

Watch the sky.

There are rumors that the dragons have returned.

I've been under so much pressure at work for the past... Three? Four? More? Months and I'm having trouble slowing down. It's like I don't have to rush everywhere but I did anyway. I did have to rush a bit last night, as I took on some extra stuff to help out a guy I trained recently, but nowhere near what I have been doing lately.

I also ordered a lot of American WWII GI minis and I'm debating if I want to buy some of the Axis minis Reaper has to go with them. But I really don't want to paint them. Like, *really* don't want to. I might have to ask a friend of mine if he's willing to do it. He likes playing the "bad guys" in the games we play...

No need for the sad faces, I survived!

For clarification about the falling asleep thing:

We were all gathered in a too small, slightly stuffy room with the lights off and were being subjected to ' death by PowerPoint '.

It was not terribly conducive to anything other than passing out.

Will they show you the dangers of sleep forklift driving?

Which is no where near as dangerous as sleep big rig driving.

Have you ever seen big rig skid marks that look like they start in the center lane and then go off the right hand shoulder, maybe with a wobble?

That's evidence that somebody fell asleep behind the wheel and got woken up by the rumble strip, over-corrected, and put it in the ditch.

Just got notified that the estate lawyer has my check. I am buying out my aunt and brother for my grandparents’ 10 acres of land out in rural OK (near Ardmore). Now, the entire purpose of buying this land is simply to tweak my aunt’s brain. She’s… hmm, what’s a polite word… cosmopolitan. Owning farm/ranch land is something she wanted no part in so readily accepted my suggestion to inherit it 100% rather than have it split between her and her two nephews (Dad passed in 19). I only wanted it so she would wonder why I would want it. I’m not sane at times. Grandparents bought the land because the old lady that lived there in the 60’s was short on cash, and so my family bought it so she could live out her days in peace without worrying about taxes or rent. Job accomplished, and I felt that keeping the land and that story was worth it.

Turns out, the mineral rights are still attached. And have a smallish monthly natural gas dividend. It’ll take 15-20 years to break even (although I used inherited cash to pay for it, so net zero). So now it looks like a sound investment rather than a joke on my aunt, and I am conflicted on how I feel about that.

Plans for it right now is to let it be a wild and half woody area. May the turkeys, raccoons, and other small critters enjoy it.
