I am buying out my aunt and brother for my grandparents’ 10 acres of land out in rural OK (near Ardmore). Now, the entire purpose of buying this land is simply to tweak my aunt’s brain. She’s… hmm, what’s a polite word… cosmopolitan. Owning farm/ranch land is something she wanted no part in so readily accepted my suggestion to inherit it 100% rather than have it split between her and her two nephews (Dad passed in 19). I only wanted it so she would wonder why I would want it. I’m not sane at times. Grandparents bought the land because the old lady that lived there in the 60’s was short on cash, and so my family bought it so she could live out her days in peace without worrying about taxes or rent. Job accomplished, and I felt that keeping the land and that story was worth it. Turns out, the mineral rights are still attached. And have a smallish monthly natural gas dividend. It’ll take 15-20 years to break even (although I used inherited cash to pay for it, so net zero). So now it looks like a sound investment rather than a joke on my aunt, and I am conflicted on how I feel about that. Plans for it right now is to let it be a wild and half woody area. May the turkeys, raccoons, and other small critters enjoy it. No reason to feel any sort of guilt. You have continued the good deed started by your grandparents. Your unintended "punishment" for this good deed is the dividend. Let your mind be at peace, "you done good". GEM 7

Have you ever seen big rig skid marks that look like they start in the center lane and then go off the right hand shoulder, maybe with a wobble? That's evidence that somebody fell asleep behind the wheel and got woken up by the rumble strip, over-corrected, and put it in the ditch. GEM Seen a steel and concrete overpass get shifted 2ft off center by a driver who fell asleep and never woke up. Also there's a black sooty spot on the concrete embankment across town where another driver tried to pass on the right and met a concrete divider for an off ramp and went up in flames. 19 minutes ago, Pegazus said: Just got notified that the estate lawyer has my check. Seriously though, it sounds like a nice piece of land. I've driven through there a lot, and the area is beautiful. 8

haldir
Tuesday night/Wed morning our load wasn't late per se (showed up around 130 AM, which is actually early) but it was a full 45 foot trailer....ugh. Inside was like 6 pallets of bottled water (ok, I know there is a drought here in the West, Ontario's city water is horrible, more or less the city pool but with like 10x the chlorine added & there is this whole pandemic thing going, but really people???? Gallon & bottle water the 2021 toilet paper pandemic item.....anyways) & our load but we also got in 4 or 5 Christmas pallets for our GM department!!! Ho ho ho!!! (not!). Of course work shift was close to 10 hrs that night thanks to my new schedule of coming in at 11 pm now, eh oh well. Fun night at the FLGS, since it's my only game right now I look forward to it every week. The table has a bunch of great guys. I ran Salvage Operation from Ghost of Saltmarsh & they almost got off the ship with the cargo, but of course I had the main protagonist show up on the deck, ready for a fight while preaching about Lloth & how the Beast (the elder octopus) will take them down. Since they are only on round 9 & their ride (rowboat) shows up in round 13, the rooms they didn't clear out will start showing up topside. They didn't clear out allot of rooms as they took the direct route to the hold so they may get overwhelmed. Also, my shop got it's FREERPGDAY items in so I was able to pick out the stuff I wanted + the stuff I'm running on freerpg day (which I can report I got the night off!!).

Green Eyed Monsty
Today is weird. The humidity is so low i am throwing millimeter+ sparks when I touch any of the appliances or sinks. At the same time, it's trying very hard to rain. About eight of the local Virginia Range Wild Horses are saying "howdy neighbors". As the rain threatens and we get big splatty intermittent drops they are clustered under a neighbors shade tree. GEM

Reminds me of the safety training we had to do back when I worked at the chemical plant. We had a skeleton crew that worked third shift, and they'd never tell us the day before that we had to stay late at the end of our shift to attend. Just a "Surprise! Training time!" about an hour before as the first shift filtered in. Further compounding the issue was that the guy they brought in to run these sessions did not like to enunciate his words, and further impeded his speech by immediately shoving a piece of hard candy in his mouth before beginning. At least I got overtime pay. Edited October 7, 2021 by ManvsMini typos

This reminds me of the computer training we have to do in regards to a active shooter reminders we get every morning. Ummm, do you want us to continue throwing these giant loads that are always late or do you want us to sit in front of a computer for about 40 mins watching something we've already have taken in the past & it's not gonna change???? Yah + my co-worker is computer illiterate & I mean this in a nice way, but the guy can barely click a mouse. Also, to access his personal account on the computer, he needs my phone as we use Microsoft's security app to access the accounts. Try to access the account it sends a text to my phone, I answer yes, it lets you in. Since he doesn't have a smart phone, he can't use this feature, so I said I'd be the one for it + when he is on there, I'm just sitting there with him, so yah. 1
