The US may finally be doing away with daylight saving time!

The Senate has passed legislation to make DST permanent, it is going to the house of representatives now.

Fingers crossed,  we may be done with the clock changing nonsense soon.

IMHO this is a bad idea.

Why?  Because more people who are not fully awake yet will be going to work in the dark.  This is a formula for more accidents in the morning hours.

Lock it on standard time and leave it there.

Me, on a Facebook post about this:   This doesn't go far enough.  The entire country (ok, world), needs to abolish time zones and use the UTC and a 24 hour clock.

Reply from some guy in Denver: So whose time should we use? Which areas of the country should get the most sunlight and which should get the most darkness?

I have no preferences about the particulars, I just want to stop the clock changing/time travel  shenanigans.

If it's really a big deal, split the difference between the two; go back 30 minutes and call it good.

I'm the same way - pick one and stick with it.

But it's hilarious seeing the arguments against this move to stop changing the clocks. People are grasping at straws to defend their fear of change. Which is ironic, because the change is literally about not changing twice a year.

Which one is the time that parents whine about their kids waiting for the school bus in the dark?  If we're all afraid of the night, maybe we should shift business/school hours?

I agree about abolishing it, and just sticking with standard time.  Sadly they tried to do it here in the province and it failed, but that was also because they wanted to lock it to daylight time, and even worse, poorly worded everything so it was a giant bundle of confusion when it came to the vote.. This is how it happens.  You just wake up one day and somebody has changed your time zone calculation difficulty from hard to very hard.  Now when I'm tryna figure out what time people are in I'll have to add the half hour and then adjust for the time zone, probably weigh a duck, dress in chicken entrails, and create a circle of salt and iron filings.

Some of those might not actually be required, I just needed an excuse for circles and chicken entrails.    Math, sorcery, all the same to me.

I just want to stop going back and forth. DST, Standard.. Just heckin' PICK ONE. Ugh.

It's been a long week.

Andi's back in the hospital (that actually happened Monday) after our PCP essentially took one look at him after the followup appointment and essentially said, 'what the hell, they never should have discharged you'. Seems that Ritzy  Hospital .. left a couple of things out when they let me take him home last week. A couple of REALLY IMPORTANT DETAILS! Not. Impressed. Actually *censored* livid, but never mind... Got the impression our PCP wasn't much more thrilled.

So, he went in (NOT back to Ritzy Hospital!) Monday, and is being monitored closely while he dumps all the water Ritzy Hospital pumped into him.

He's doing better, but I still don't really expect to get him back much before the weekend... ^^;

At least he's a little closer, if a bit trickier to get to; I took him some stuff yesterday so he wouldn't be bored stupid, they're doing enough of that with the food; and, lo, we're going low sodium (sigh. I bet we use more salt than we think we do, even after cutting a bunch... although getting back to being able to cook our own damn food will help). I refrained from taking him a container of one of the no-salt herb blends we use, but it was a close thing ...

The lack of appetite because anxiety and stress has at least resulted in me losing a few pounds, for whatever small good I can find in this crap sandwich.

Alright everyone, time to use the wrinkles in your brain. I just received these miniatures, but I have no idea where they're from. I do know that they're from 1991, have a strange symbol at the bottom, and they're definitely made of lead.

Nexus SWAT troopers, if I had to guess.  I may have a few of these somewhere.
