Good to hear your teeth are well. A trip to the dentist is on my to-do list once vaccinated. I'd go if an emergency dental situation arose, but for general maintenance.... eh, I'm holding off a bit longer. I have so many emails and calls from their office saying I'm late for a check-up though. Tough.

Yeah, that was pretty much where I was at. Roughly a year and a half since my last visit, and I missed the ones I should have had last year. Only reason I went this time was because of the massive amount of tartar on a few teeth (that I thought were rotting, whew!) and that speck on a nearby tooth, plus my household is vaccinated. Otherwise I wouldn't risk it either.

Reminds me, I need to stock up on floss and mouthwash. And probably set up an appointment with my primary care just to make sure everything is as it should be.

I think I have decided I'm going to build some various cos-play sci-fi weapons, and display them in my son's old room when he moves out.  Starting with a big rocket launcher.

His room is the one with the big window closest to the sidewalk.  I wonder what kind of looks I'll get from pedestrians who catch a glimpse of the "arsenal"?

Better effect would be to have the head of an IG-88 in the window.

Ah, one of the Gateways to the Summer Court, Stairway of the Butterflies if I remember correctly. According to legend, one must only attempt passage if you have both an engraved invitation from a Noble of the Summer Court, and several people behind you in the room playing a perfect rendition of "Stairway to Heaven". There is a proper point in the song where one is safe to cross, but I am not sure exactly when that is.

I know when that moment is...

But I'm only allowed to tell you in your choice of one of four dead languages, three of which were never spoken by human beings.

EDIT: Huh. Just noticed I've got my halo. Is changing your title thingy to something custom still a thing?

Ayep - looks like you just go to your profile, hit "edit profile" and it gives you a space for "Member Title". I wonder if everyone can do it now?

If one of those languages is that of the Tcho-Tcho people of the steppes of Leng, then that would explain the connection between the general sound of Led Zeppelin's fourth album and certain stone tablets said to have been unearthed around 1971 in the region of Bron-Yr-Aur.

 Since I've been contracting to them for 15 years now, you would think that I would automatically know when all the Canadian holidays are.

For awhile I was doing good, but since we moved to Iowa, I haven't found a good local source for calendars that show both country's holidays.

If it's any consolation, most Canadians don't know our holidays until work or the radio reminds us...  Or we show up to work wondering why the lights are off..

*reads the label on the bottle* Wait a minute, this isn't Nair, this is industrial-strength super glue.

Given how fast super glue sets (and the fact that I just shook at least half of it all over your living room) that means that it finished setting about the time I got out the door. So, now I'm a punk rock chaos wolf, with an all over mohawk.

Anybody remember the late-night cable masterpiece Silk Stalkings on USA Network?

I just grabbed the first season of it off of EvilBuy for a decent price...

Hot cops investigating sex crimes, theft and murder among the rich and famous of Palm Beach... And it was a surprisingly well written show with good production values, too.

Possibly not safe for work, unless your boss watched a lot of late-night cable in the '90's, lol

Ye gods and fluffy bunnies, Mitzi Kapture was gorgeous, lol.

When I was a kid there'd be ads on TV for those kinds of shows and young pubescent Marvin was so very tantalized by them, all the ladies in their sexy outfits and lingerie and carefully cropped nudity and whatnot, and it was wild times; but by today's standards most of it would be considered tame af. Kinda shocked to hear it's actually watchable lol.

Anyway, I escaped my formative years with nothing much worse than a strong attraction to women in stockings. At least the Internet wasn't around to mess me up back then.

It's the minor holidays with varying dates that get us. Victoria Day (National Patriot's Day in Quebec) is one of them. Third Sunday of May.

Then there are those weird newer holidays, that vary by province, are even more confusing. Family Day, Louis-Riel Day, Nova Scotia Heritage Day, Islander Day... all on the same day, that may or may not be a day off, and is not celebrated in Quebec (for reasons?).

Still not as bad as guessing when Easter will fall.

SO a thing just happened.

I was GMing a game for a few friends, and was throwing a pretty sizeable monster at them. a Wendigo. First round my brothers halfling paladin goes "he's evil. I'm going to smite" Now being an evil outsider that means first round he gets to add twice his level (15) to his damage.  Next thing I hear is 'so does a 37 confirm a crit' He's using a polearm that has a x3 crit range. so 187 points of damage latter, it's still there. Next came. "another twenty and...does a 38 confirm?"  So yeah...I didn't have a whole lot planned for after that tonight. Time to wing it.
