Would you care to expand upon that rather cryptic remark?

GEM

As this is the Random Thread it didn’t seem necessary to be verbose.

My guess is the raccoons ate through the cable supplying internet to his house.

Got it in one.

Although it’s a bit more complicated.
I was experiencing

-sudden disconnects/zero internet.

-super slow internet speeds.

-intermittent internet connectivity.

It was just randomly bouncing between those conditions starting at about 1600 hours today.

In unrelated [????] news at 0300 today I spotted a Raccoon on the window ledge right outside the spot where my computer sits. She (?) was 3.5 feet from the point where the physical wire pierces the exterior wall.

That confirmed that the strange noises I have been hearing from the roof-attic are likely raccoon activity and made them the lead suspects.

This nonsense has happened to me before.

The wire from the pole to the house was replaced about four weeks ago. It took Spectrum  four (!) tech visits until they finally decided it was critter damage and replaced the wire. It has been all good for about four weeks but now it’s intermittently down unless it’s up….

Wow. Page 700 even.

And walkies, don’t forget the walkies…

Those are mandatory, four times a day.

Although I need to motivate Brutus in the Morning and Evening, those Dog couches are REALLY comfortable and it's hard to get up you know.

I hope someone out there has a good view of the moon tonight.  Too many trees and clouds here, but I got a glimpse of something red, maybe the Eye of Sauron.

Unfortunately, no. I had a wonderful view of clouds.

I took the day off today. I figured after spending a good chunk of time out in the sun yesterday, I might be a little more tired than usual, and I certainly am. Evenb after sleeping in a little, I'm still contemplating a nap later.

So until someone expressly forbids me to do this, I'mma keep making like a good rogue and quietly acquiring information in the most efficient and expedient way possible. :upside:

I heartily approve.

I am so frickng sick of bureaucracy right now.  Currently on day 108 of the refinance that was supposed to take 40-60 days.   Theoretically, we're supposed to close this Friday, but I still haven't heard from the settlement agent to set our closing appointment.

So on July 31st, 2022, in Nashville, TN, “Jim Crockett Promotions Presents: Ric Flair's Last Match". I can't even begin to fathom what's the weirdest thing here, a 73-year old making a comeback in wrestling, his not having retired from in-ring competition for over a decade being a personal best, or someone having dug up a compnay name that's been gone for near on 30 years.

But hey, I didn't realize until today Flair had is first match in Rice Lake, WI, apparently otherwise best known for an aging Hanoverian saddler and harness maker having relocated there, a fellow named August Ringling. Apparently he was visited in 1883 by a bunch of his sons, and the bros even put on their budding show there.

<sigh> Just got an email from a site trying to pay a bill. The bill is for something that was sort of ordered through me, but is not our part - I put her in touch with the manufacturer of said part.  She sent in a check to the manufacturer, but it was returned to her, so she sent ME a scan of the envelope.

It's not even a bill due to us, but I think I know why it was returned to her.  Probably because her addressed envelope said  "Walker BOL"  and not "Walker Hill AB B0L 7Y2"

(note: I didn't use the real city or post code here - I just made something up that looked similar.  So if you Canucks are confused about where Walker Hill AB is, that is why.)

Sad how many Americans not only can't recognize a properly formatted Canadian address, but apparently won't even bother to double check before mailing something off.

When I started at my current job, I heard cries of "woo!"coming from down the line periodically throughout the night. My first thought was, "Is there a bunch of Ric Flairs working here?"

Turns out they actually just go "woo!" every 100 units that are completed. The team leader at the end of the line thinks it's good for morale... others find it irritating.

I think it's a commercial in the making for the company and Ric Flair... he apparently needs the money if he's still trying to eek out one more match. And he did the CarShield commercials recently.

Yeah, I was slightly confused. I know most major and many minor towns in Alberta, being that I live here. I was confused where Walker Hill was supposed to be.

CanadaPost will try their best but if you do things like forget the postal code, or only write the second half...   Yeah, machines will send it to a human, humans will look at it Aaaaand odds are it'll be sent back as undeliverable because of the exact reasons you stated.

I would have used the actual city name/post code if it had been a large city like Calgary or Edmonton, or even a substantial suburb. But given that the real town has a population of less than 20k, I thought it better that I not use the actual name.
