Cygnwulf
mer. Got sick with that novel virus that is still going around, started getting fever and cough on Friday. So far, in my case the hands down worst symptom is the sore throat. Up there rivaling the worst bout of tonsilitis I can remember. Can't comfortably swallow anything that isn't warm. So that means lots of hot tea. And I mean LOTS of hot tea. I normally love hot tea, it's one of my go to warm beverages. But after days of this, I go to the kitchen and pull open the drawer with all the tea in it, and every box and tin in there is making me go 'bleh'....

Werkrobotwerk
today is going interesting. A man in a miner's hat just forced his way out of the elevator and crawled out onto the second floor.

Thoramel
So after today I'm going to be on vacation for a short time. I wanted to make sure my interns have plenty to do while I'm away so while in the field today I had them collect about a dozen different sedges to key out using a Gleason and Cromquist manual of vascular plants. For those who may not know, sedges are grass like plants that all look very much the same and can be indistinguishable from actual grasses to the untrained eye. And the Gleason and Cromquist manual is this large tome of plants where you identify them using a key of plant features (often with descriptive names that are only used in that manual) and not, like in other plant books, by looking at comparable pictures. In fact, there are no pictures. It is a ridiculously intimidating book of plants, even to people who work in fields where you need to know your plants. But it gets worse. I made sure to choose two sedge species that are almost identical. But I actually collected one of a given species and two of the other. So that should drive them nuts thinking it's three distinct species. Then, just because I'm evil, I had them collect a grass species that looks just like a sedge. But I didn't tell them that, just let them think it was another sedge. I'm interested to see what, if anything, they get right out of this batch of plants. Man, I've really missed driving interns crazy during the pandemic. We'll see if they still want to work with me when I get back from vacation in a week. 6 12
kristof65
Just found out the service department has been reduced to the Service Manager and one outside consultant (me). I guess they haven't been using the other outside consultant for a few weeks now - don't know the whole story. And the last remaining in house tech just turned in his notice - last day is Friday. They were already down a tech from the one who left last year, despite hiring three different people - first two didn't last. Third one just started a few weeks ago, but probably won't be ready for the phones for a couple more months at least. On the upside, it probably means my contract with them is secure.

Tastes like elf, but works. 1 tsp per 8oz water.

haldir
Crazy, so before I went to bed this morning. I decided to look for a couple things in my mess of a hobby room upstairs. I found soooo much hobby stuff that I'll find use for over the next few months. ha ha. I mainly went looking for my razor saw, as I knew I had at least 1 blade & 1 heavy duty holder (Xacto doesn't even make this holder anymore). Found that & more! Now I need to go through my goodies that I found, in the garage, now that is my hobby room. I may try & reign in the mess upstairs, but then I remember it becomes a oven upstairs in the summer & while it's nice now, it's not going to stay that way. Also, you know how I said the price for GW Shades & Contrast paints at my FLGS was pretty much double what retail is? Well, I noticed I only have a half a bottle of Agrax Earthshade & I know I'm going to more then that. Looked on the bay & price with shipping is like 1 or 2 bucks cheaper, so I may end up just getting that bottle from them. Hate the cost but I don't have to worry about shipping. Had I noticed I needed it, yesterday I would have added it to my order....

Tech vs Bio I guess, I'm not even interested in the game, I just love the models and this monster will probably be one of the few scifi minis I will print/paint. But who knows...knowing me this might lead to a complete army and then I need adverseries etc etc.. One could also print that tent alone and put it on a base. Might make a nice diorama. What did I miss? Since when is there a Bust of her? Okay, check out Stargrave and Starfinder... [yes, I AM evil]

TheAuldGrump
Felt weird not having the after school game - out for summer. Went well enough that I think it will be back come the fall - I don't know if it will continue to be online or if we will be able to go back to the live games. Lord of the Dish Pit
Contrary to popular belief, I have not run off and joined a ghoul warren. Although at this point in time, I would be tempted.... Combination of Spring weather causing me to lose ground in the Lawn War, allergies, creative funk, and various other frustrations meant that my only contribution here would be a series of rants about things that none of us can change, so I figured it best to stay away for a bit.
