Despite the fact that I've been the sole user and paying the bills for my internet for the past twenty years (the company has changed names twice), I have to get my old man to call up and have them restart my service since his name is still on the damn account and I never got around to seeing if they can change it before this. Bah. Grumble, grumble, grumble... On a related note, I was going to do my taxes on the free IRS thing this year, but in order to verify my identity I have to send them a pic of my driver's license and a webcam photo of myself. Except I don't have a damn webcam, so apparently the whole "pics or it didn't happen" thing means I don't actually exist. But, if I don't exist, then why the hell do I have to pay taxes??? Oh, yeah... Update: Jack is no longer a state-sponsored bum and drain on society. Jack now has a crappy second shift job at a place called Acme Wire, making things like the wire face guards on sports helmets. After five paychecks, he's finally caught up with his monthly bills. As of Thursday, Jack has hot water again for the first time in five months. And he has managed to throw a bit of $$ at Bones 6 (he got a lighthouse). Yay me. Inarah
The reason why Americans are muy gordo: Fajitas for one at a favorite local spot. Comes with ~2lbs shredded meat, rice beans, condiments, fresh hand made tortillas, and complimentary chips and fresh salsa. Two of us ate half of it, and the rest is in the fridge. 12

Welcome to our world. Most restaurant meals now days end up as either two meals or a meal and a hearty snack for each of us. GEM

Corsair
Anybody interested in a free ride in a helicopter flight for 4 people? I'm still looking for 2 more people to join us. We leave early Saturday morning from Myrtle Beach, SC and will fly to St. Augustine, Fl where we will have breakfast and then on to a yacht for lunch. Then we’ll do a flight along the coast to see Jacksonville, FL and return back to St Augustine for dinner and then fly back home. If interested please pm me.... Preferably someone with a helicopter and yacht, otherwise we can't go. 14

Well my wife really wants to go to Florida but we're not allowed out of Canada and my helicopters are only about an inch long so don't fit 4 people. 4

Preferably someone with a helicopter and yacht, otherwise we can't go. That's going to be a rather long flight, probably 2.5-3 hours, which isn't always the most comfortable in a helicopter. Sticking to running alongside the coast, you're looking at approximately 265 nautical miles, and most helicopters cruise around the 100-120 kn/h range. If you're in a Robinson R44, that's going to feel cramped pretty quickly. If It's a BK117, you'll get there a little faster at 130kn cruise speeds and won't feel anywhere near as cramped as the R44, but it's also a twin turboshaft design, and the Lycomonster engines are known for being fuel hungry (yes, I called Lycoming "Lycomonster", it's an aviation thing). But y'know, if your friend happens to have the helicopter and the yacht, I doubt they'll need to worry about fuel costs, since at minimum it's going to be an entire tank of fuel to make that trip - it has a range of 292nm, and you're travelling 265nm. Most operators would stop for fuel halfway, but yeah, you're going to be burning close to (or slightly more than) 700L of jet fuel for each leg of the trip (183 US gallons). According to Beach Aviation Service's website, Jet A is $7.37 per gallon, so add a little bit of rounding for servicing fees and that's $1,500 USD just in fuel for the first leg. According to Global Air's fuel map, it's $8.91 per gallon, so adding in service fees that's another $1,800. And using information from 2019 from the US Forestry Service's "HELICOPTER SERVICES HOURLY FLIGHT RATES, FUEL CONSUMPTION, AND WEIGHT REDUCTION CHART", you're looking at a cost of at least $2k USD per hour of operation in costs, and since they use something like $5.20 per gallon of fuel for pricing, it's probably a lot closer to $2,700 USD per hour of operation, which means that those six hours of flying costs almost as much as a Honda Civic Brand new (Google says they start at $21,700 USD, and six hours at $2.7k is $16,200). The Bell 412 I was originally going to use for these numbers uses even more fuel, and doesn't look as lovely at the BK117... But yeah, given it's a 2.5-3 hour flight, if you want it make it there for lunch you'll want to be on the runway no later than 08:30. It would be faster and a ~lot~ cheaper to fly in a Van's RV-10 (183 knots cruise speed), or if we want something fancier (and available in a lovely coppery ORANGE! ...and y'know, already built) the Diamond DA62 seats 7 and moves at 171-185 knots cruise. You'll also still have fuel leftover from the round trip, and it'll be a lot quieter too! Oh yeah, and if you like to sleep in, the DA62 6
