today's car wash drama

We have a site that is co-located with a marijuana dispensary, and owned by the same people.  Pretty sure the guy calling for tech support help today has been heavily sampling the dispensary product.  To quote our dispatch: "I got a contact high just talking to the guy on the phone!"

Sounds like the doctor I went to see about medical weed for my anxiety disorder. I don't care if it might help, I am not taking medical advice from a guy who went into medical weed for easy access to medical weed.

Was it this guy?

Here's something unexpected from my part, last Saturday I participated in a dragon-boat racing charity event with some of my coworkers.

(I'm in the centre row, first one on the right with the open jacket

85 teams of 20 rowers, three 200m races spread over the day. Everyone had sore shoulders for two days, and we weren't the best synchronized team. Strong start, but lacking in the middle part of the race.

And the weather was miserable! Unseasonably cold (max 13C/55F), rainy and windy. And because of some delays, we had to wait longer than expected before our turn came. Luckily, some of the team brought some insulated curtains and a propane heater to our team booth, otherwise we would've lost some participants to hypothermia (I mean, they would've went home before freezing more).

The bosses catered our participation, so we had plenty of food, snacks and beverages (including micro-brewery beer) to go around. Only thing missing would've been hot coffee for the whole team (I brought my own in a thermos).

My sister is still in disbelief that I even considered participating.

I don't see a picture of the boat anywhere...

We had to slay the dragon part of the boat. Otherwise, it was like the one you see on the water behind us. A long canoe for twenty rowers, one steerer in the back, and one optional drum beater in front (in our case, the daughter of a coworker)

Before the event, I expected the boats to be more festively decorated.

So it seems like all I do lately is skip a bunch of pages, pop on and complain about my health......sorry about that.

So anyway, this morning I woke up and the whole right side of my face wasn't working right.

Half a day in Emerg.  The good news, I didn't have a stroke.

The bad news, Bell's palsy.

Already on the recommended drugs, which are particularly effective if caught early, which is was (who the heck waits more that three days to see a doctor with the whole side of their face numb??).

So very good chance it will eventually completely recover. In the mean time, I have to put drops in my right eye regularly to keep it from drying out and possibly getting permanently damaged, since me lower lid won't close.  And I have to tape it shut with a pad every night to keep it shut while I sleep.  Whee, fun.
And I have to hold the right part of my lower lip up with a finger to drip my diet cola from a bottle, otherwise I dribble all over my shirt.  Awesome.

On the plus side, it is still socially acceptable to wear a mask, which covers up the fact half my mouth isn't working right. #brightside  😉

Any idea what caused that? A few years back one of my colleagues got a tick bite, developed Bell's Palsy with no other symptoms, which then developed into a later stage Lyme disease. And that almost killed him. I'm asking because it wasn't initially diagnosed as being related to a tick bite. Instead it was considered an ideopathic issue and no treatment for Lyme disease was ever considered. I mean, it's probably not that as that seems really rare. But it may be worth asking.

My stepfather. But in his case he was also stumbling and unable to hold things with that side. Guess who had a stroke and waited so long that he’s now unable to do much by himself even after three years of physical therapy? Yeah…

Very happy I am not one of those guys to wait to see a doctor. Probably saved my life twice (appendicitis and not-cancer-but-maybe-is thyroid).

They checked for lyme disease in the blood work. Clear, not that I've been out of the city in the last few weeks, or even on our lawn really.
I'm not saying it was triggered by Covid, or the 4th vaccine and then getting Covid right after, but there is a LOT of talk about Bell's palsy occurrences with Covid and the vaccines.  I had Covid 3-4 weeks ago, and the 4th shot less than 2 weeks before that.
Not saying it WAS the cause, but that is the only change to any of my meds or conditions in the last 2 months at least.

Either way, I would get the vaccine again, since with my lungs it may have been the only thing that kept me off a respirator or worse.

And, unfortunately, getting Covid at some point was going to be inevitable....

Still if some Doctor is out there correlating info on this, my blood work is already in the system.

I don't play the games.

These Jackals are from Onepagerules (3D printed by me) their basing set comes with both square and round options.

I used two of my own for this pic.

What looks best?

Square or Round?

Please tell me.

I'm sorry,  this is going to be no help at all:

Which one do YOU like better? They're going to be your army, you should be pleased with their appearance.

Much like Chaoswolf I'd normally say that whichever you like better

But, these are 3d printed, so I'll go with the only correct answer - both
