I've told the story before of sitting in a theater lobby after Rocky Horror waiting for a cast meeting to start, when the Eurhythmics' "Sweet Dreams" came on the radio station playing over the lobby speakers...

And almost falling over in shock when I heard two younger cast members complaining that somebody had ruined Marilyn Manson's song...

50th-birthday-memes-33-720x720.jpg.b826f61447b4475036b5d91eef4ab2cf.jpg

I'm almost there, just 2 more months!

Been there for the last 11 months.

My mind agrees. However my lower back didn't get the memo. [Stupid back!]

I just realized the other day that I've never seen this used as a meme before (obviously, the movie is probably too old), so I had to put one together...

Seems like a natural fit for those internet forum discussions where people think they can win arguments by just endlessly repeating what they already said.

As many of you know, I adore the "Twilight Zone". There is a classic episode (aren't they all classic?) with an old guy at a retirement home who promises that those who join him in a midnight session of childhood games will be young again. Of course, there's a little magic involved, but he says you are only as old as you believe you are. Somedays my body does feel 200 lbs and 40 years old, but I try to fill my days with childlike wonder and simple happiness.

Well, there's one for the list of "didn't quite expect that to happen".  Been a while since that list had anything added to it, the last one was "stuck behind two LAV-III's with yellow placards on them" (student driver).  As one could imagine, I gave them more space than usual (but not quite as much as you'd give, say, a ~tank~ with those same placards on it).

Today's entry?  Bus delayed by a little over  half an hour due to THE POPE.  Well, okay, due to police shutting down the road we were on temporarily and then using two busses to block off another road, and then letting the convoy for the pope come through, but still.  RCMP have cooler looking bikes, I miss the old Harleys, but Edmonton Police Service upgraded to BMW's about ten years ago.  So weird having two types of sirens coming down the road though..

A lot of departments have switched because of the lower maintenance and higher resale value of the BMW bikes.  I've talked with a number of  motor officers and they like them because of the reduction in vibration causing less fatigue and the beemers having such great acceleration.

Productive day as far as mini-painting for RCon. Knocked out a couple more harpies (I am really dreading this figure.....) 4 more to go. Also knocked out most of the scenery pieces I will be adding to my games. It's not allot, but pieces I thought were essential to the story. Also knocked out around 5 minis. Simple minis & of course I'm "speedpainting" my way through these, so of course nothing would win competitions, but hey I'm getting color on the pieces & it also helps me overcome the "Well, I've got the pieces, no need to paint them" thinking I've acquired over the recent years when it comes to my weekly game as well.

Also, one of the Patreons I subscribe to released his version of the Tin-Soldiers from Wild Beyond Witchlight!!! This, along with Sowpig. a recurring character, are pieces that I really wanted to have for my Saturday game, but either couldn't find it, or not willing to pay what Wizkids/aftermarket wants for just 2 figures....

I am re-thinking some color choices I made on a previous mini though. He is partially painted, but I'm thinking of color change. I may just re-primer him tomorrow & we'll go from there.

Oh, I wouldn't doubt it.  Another reason the local forces mentioned were the BMW's were noticeably lighter fully loaded out, which is handy if you have to pick it back up, or just generally move it around.  I could see the reduced vibrations definitely being handy too.
