My boss responded "I don't like hi attitude either, but we're both stuck with it." He then called me and told me to keep doing my job. I've got the fix for her problem, the jist of which is, don't become entangled with the criminal justice system and you won't have to worry about it. Pegazus
Took a coworker out for sushi as a thank you for being an underling/minion for me. He’s getting bumped up to my level and given full responsibility for another product in my program. Figured it was the least I could do for taking all those arrows and what not. In unrelated job news, I applied for a deep space program position for some extra-planetary lander legs. Very doubtful to get it as it would mean a promotion to the top “normal employee” level, but would be a cool job to get.

Went back to catch a couple hours of sleep, and was woken up by Mrs. Strawhat telling me what time it was and declaring that we have mice. I managed to perform a "trap and release," but we're still not sure how it got in the house. I'm really hoping it was just an "explorer" that somehow found its way into the garage (and snuck in the house when the door was open). I'm guessing it hasn't been here long, because all it needed to do was hop through a baby gate into the storage area and it would have been off scot-free instead of trapped in a plastic left-overs container. About releasing a captured mouse... They will find their way back to your home unless you release them at least 5 Km/ 3 miles away from it. 3 hours ago, ShadowRaven said: my eldest goddaughter just graduated high school. I know what you mean. Oldest Vixen bought an appartment and will get the key end of next month. A bit of renovation and decorating and then she'll leave the Lair. I only walked it to the bottom of the cul de sac (three houses between us and the main street). It scampered into a storm drain as soon as it could. Hopefully it finds better digs, as I'm pretty sure the cat won't be sympathetic to another critter in the house.

I had a friend that tried the "catch and release" and it nearly reached sitcom levels of ridiculousness at how the mouse would keep coming back. As cute as they may seem, they are vermin in the human world, and sometimes terminal measures are required. You hear a tiny knock at the door, and then in a squeaky, sing-song voice, “Daaaad, I’m hooooome!”

I guess I should have known from how I kept using the magnifier more and more when painting, but I officially could benefit from bifocals now, according to the eye doc this week.... Welcome to the club. 3 hours ago, Green Eyed Monsty said: Check out the variable focus lenses. I've been wearing them for decades and find them much more satisfactory than the traditional bi-focal lens. GEM Indeed. Though I call them bi-focals, they're progressive lenses. When you get the proper prescription, it's far less tiring on the eyes. Though sadly you lose out of peripheral vision sharpness (at least at my level of RX).

GRM I didn't even know he had a partner until today, so I have no idea about the partner. I'm just glad that this guy didn't become a site owner until after the co-owner of the company I'm with was pushed out a few years ago. If this site owner had managed to get ahold of the old co-owner, because he would often tell the customer what they wanted to hear, but then blow them off, leaving us to clean up the mess, which often meant having to cave in. 2

I should start workouts for the cat, too. Even our old declawed cat managed to kill a snake (just a garter snake, but she was still pleased as punch about it--we had been out and when we got back home she was sitting right there by it staring at us). I've done such pest control things before, even if I prefer to not. I'm going to blame Mrs. Strawhat's delicate nature if it (or other reasonable facsimile) does show back up. On the bright side, she's promised to close the garage door more often. Sometimes I wonder why I bother.

On the bright side, she's promised to close the garage door more often. Sometimes I wonder why I bother. Last week I had to remove two mice from our domicile. I used the traditional trap method, with an aromatic medium cheddar for bait. Took less than two hours for them to do their "dirty deed". Sidebar: I was picking up some fence supplies from a building supply business aptly named "Sticks and Stones" that has a small hardware department. I asked about mouse traps and the guy waiting on me just grinned. I asked why the "face" and he explained they had just dealt with the same rodent problem and they had to go to the nearby Ace Hardware to obtain the necessary equipment. I did the same. GEM Just heard a report that Hershey's is reporting there may be supply chain related issues with Halloween Candy this year. They are struggling to keep up with regular demand, and have not started their advance production, which normally starts in the spring, for Halloween. In particularly short supply is Cocoa. This does not bode well for the Christmas Season. GEM 2
