I have mixed reactions about Halloween. While I love it, and it's my holiday (my birthday is only a few days earlier), the most terrifying part of seeing this year's decorations is that we are beginning that slow, horrible slide into winter. Kicking and screaming.

The big GW LoTR reveal was this morning, and it did not disappoint. The new boxed set is pretty much what everyone expected they'd reveal. I was hoping for an Isengard boxed set, with platforms and craters featuring uruk-hai. I've been collecting the range for 15+ years, so I have most of the minis, but I do want more rangers and the new ruins, rulebook and minis are worth the price of the set. The troll will be fun to paint, a nice challenge to blend the different fleshes. The new elves were the cream of the crop, though. Elrond is amazing, and plastic, so I will be ordering him for sure. I was really hoping that Helm's Deep castle would be rereleased, even as a made to order.

I'm thinking of doing a demo at the FLGS on release day, closer to Christmas if they let me. Not a lot of room in the store is the big thing, but I might be able to set up a card table on the computer side or use the counter. While I won't have the new models, they are all copies of old ones, which I do have, so it should be feasible.

You can blame at least part of that on them having the banner up for a couple of weeks at the same location as last year.

We had a cookout today, since the weather wasn’t too hot. It was all going well, until I realized that were were yellow jackets all over the yard. At first I thought they were bees, but the pictures on the interwebs confirm it’s yellowjackets.

So, Sephy isn’t going outside until we get the problem sorted. MIL says there was a nest in one of the dead trees, so we may have to figure out how to deal with that in a couple weekends when we start work on clearing out all the trees around the house.
