Had an orientation session for the Operations Department of the Railroad Museum last night.

Where I was informed that I am an "unpaid employee" of the State of Nevada when I am volunteering at the museum.

How nice.  All of the headaches and none of the benefits.

I'll still show up and pitch in, 'cause "trains", "steam trains".

Y'all play nice at ReaperCon this weekend.

Nick Anything is pouting right now, while waving his tiny sword and flintlock at me.

Well, that does mean you may not be allowed to criticize the State government, as an employee, but I submit that being unpaid gives you full rights to 'Snidely Whiplash" anyone you don't like and tie them to the tracks. Only regulation is you must wear a top hat, coat with tails, and a thin moustache waxed into a tight curl at the ends.

Top Hat:  Will a hard crown Bowler Do?

Coat with tails:  How 'bout a nice black brocade vest instead?  [It shows off a watch chain very nicely]  With a Bow Tie.

Thin Moustache:  Not gonna happen.  I've worn a full moustache since I got out of Boot Camp, often waxed, but sometimes it curls "funny".  No longer black/brown but  a uniform "silver".

And we aren't allowed to tie the "guests" to the tracks, or any other part of the facility.  For that "extra service" you have to go outside of the environs of the State Capital to the nearby jurisdiction where prostitution is legal.

Lady C has plans afoot to get with a lifelong friend on Thursday, Friday Eve we get with our nephew and his family [Uncle Corsair gets LOTS of hugs] and Saturday she will probably go shopping while I am at the con. See [some of] you tomorrow at the Meet & Greet!

"Oh the Chicken-ity!!!"

Dinner was great tonight, I ate too much but eh, vacation. I decided to eat at Twin Peaks over here. Good food, even better views. The female form is a marvel to look at, I will not lie. Plus, it's across the interstate for a game store, so hey dinner + some shopping, I can handle that.

Early day tomorrow, must try & sleep. I'll see some of you tomorrow!

Of all the days...

Had a notification pop up on my phone last night of a declined transaction on my primary checking account.  Logged in via my PC, didn't see anything out of the ordinary, no pending transactions or anything like that, figured it was a glitch, or a fraud attempt my CU stopped, which has happened before.  Logged in tonight to transfer money for ReaperCon, and noticed a $29 insufficient funds fee has been charged to my account, no explanation.   Only thing I can figure is that it was related to the declined transaction yesterday.  Start freaking out, thinking maybe we missed a bill or a check.  Thing is, we had several hundred dollars in the account, so whatever it was had to be large. Start checking all of our transactions over the last couple of months, don't find a couple at first, like the hefty quarterly tax payment to Uncle Sam and a health insurance payment, which freaks me out even more.   Eventually locate even those, and there are no unaccounted for checks or bills that I can find.

Spent 28 minutes on hold waiting to talk to a rep (thank god my CU has 24/7 service), he can't see anything more than I can see, now I'm currently on another estimated 20 minutes hold time to talk to a specialist who should be able to see more info on the transactions.

Depressing stuff, skip if you don’t want to be depressed. Can’t figure out how to make spoilers work on mobile.

Anyway, just laying here wishing I could turn off my brain. Keep having random thoughts, like “I wonder if my brother has sorted out funeral arrangements”, and then I scream at my self to stop it because is IMPOSSIBLE. I really don’t know how to deal with this.
