Randomness XVIII: Ex-Vee-Triple-Eye

I'm not usually a political kind of guy, but yesterday we had our provincial elections.

Though my local candidate didn't win, I'm satisfied that the party that attracted all of the right-wing anti-everything conspiracy theorists didn't win a single seat. Even their party leader lost! 😁

It's hr they'll almost always find a way to be the security weak link. Well then and any executive...

Tell me about it. We're having a problem with the HR person at my wife's job with our health insurance.

As a school district employee, in order to have coverage over the summer, we have to write them a couple of checks to cover our portion.  There was some confusions as to the amounts those checks were supposed to be, and multiple checks were written/voided.    Because of that, and the fact that they didn't submit the July 30th check for payment until August 26th,  I lost track of the balance in our account vs what checks still needed to clear and the check bounced. Of course, I get the bounce notice from my credit union the night before I'm leaving for ReaperCon, and I end up spending two hours on hold/on the phone with my credit union to figure out what happened. I'm annoyed, but I transfer some funds around in case they resubmit it and figure I'll deal with it when I get back.   On Sept 1st, I get notice from my CU that the check has been resubmitted, and paid, so I'm thinking "Great, that's the end of it."

Nope.

I'm out of town on an install last week, and my wife texts me that she's been called into a meeting with HR and the superintendent to discuss the bounced check and that we're in arrears.  She tells them they have to wait until I get back into town, which annoys them.  They've had a month to figure out that the bounced check was actually resubmitted and paid, and  we don't owe anything, but apparently not.

If that wasn't bad enough. when I get back and start reviewing the emails between HR and my wife, there is apparently still some confusion about how much those checks should have been for, because the check that bounced and later cleared was written for over $100 more than they say we're in arrears, which means that even after all of the confusion at the beginning of summer about how much we would owe, the HR lady still got it wrong.

At this point, I've lost all confidence in her ability to know who owes whom what.  We never had any problems like this with the previous HR person, and this isn't the only thing this lady has screwed up for us.

We called them this morning to discuss, superintendent is out, and we're told that we need to schedule an in person meeting.  I tell her NOPE, not happening, we can discuss it on the phone, so let's set up a time for a conference call.  She refuses, says it has to be in person, then finally transfers us to the superintendent's Voice Mail where I left a probably angry sounding message that HR needs to get their broccoli together.  OK, actually I said "get her stuff together", but I wanted to say broccoli.  Surprised I contained myself.

Still haven't heard back from him to set up a conference call.

I refuse to go to an in person meeting because I don't want to risk losing my cool - easier to walk away from the phone.  I've written myself a script to read to them, and that's all I plan on saying. We're telling them we're not giving them another cent until they do up an audit/review of our premium and payments history for the last year.

Alright. Well. The Saga of the Foot has turned into a little Toe Story - no, not even sorry - and after they got Competent Surgeon down out from the rafters, she scheduled Andi for surgery. Next Monday (I haven't even been doing it for a month, and my streaming schedule is already borked! Welp). Okay. Mind you, they're not gonna just clean it out and sew it up, no, they're just going to remove the toe; and after seeing it, Andi's in agreement.

Which I guess means that I'm about to be married to an amputee, and yes, I have by now heard most of the 'toe' jokes (although if you've got some new ones ...).

So far, the new booster isn't bothering me, but Andi's not feeling the love at all, which hopefully will have cleared up before Thursday, when we next see Wound Care on the subject of the toe (.. the poor wound care nurse...)

Because apparently Timing is Everything, my dad is also going in, albeit the next day, for some minor - we hope - surgery, and I'm worried.

It was a nice break, but I guess we're back in it.

Sounds like time to call the Superintendent, calmly explain the situation, and demand an Audit of the account.  If there is one mistake, there is the likelihood there are others that haven't been discovered - yet.

If the Superintendent starts making demurring noises inform the Super. that the next "request" for an audit will be directed to the District's Attorney and it will be from ~your~ attorney.

If there is any more static from the Super ask the following question in the exact language in quotations "Who accepts legal service for your organization.".  This is a question they are required by law to answer and any delay or obfuscation will find the Super. in legal hot water of the cooking goose sort.

Good Luck with this.

@Chaoswolf My best friend may have scarred his youngest for life with something like that.   His son was around 5-6 years old, and someone gave him some doll that sort of looked like Chucky. His son didn't like it, and kept taking out of his room. My friend kept putting it back in his kid's room - at first innocently believing it needed to be put away, later to get a laugh out of it.

His son is over 30 now, and bringing up the doll when we're together causes him to go off on his dad!

I've had conversations with the Super before, as has my wife. Our impression of him is that he's a reasonable guy, and is interested in maintaining good relations with the community and employees. I think once he sees our documentation, someone is going to be in trouble - right now he's only got what the HR person is saying.

I have a bit of a dark sense of humor (obviously) but I wouldn't do that. Funny is one thing, mean spirited is quite another.

you know, I keep seeing Mountain Lions doing stuff like this that convinces me that they're basically just 150lb housecats, (albeit with all the incredible danger that comes with being that big and strong)

Saw one one time splashing in a river, he'd raise up on his back feet and plunge both front feet into the water, then try to bite the splash out of the air....

ugh.  Sorry to hear about the foot.

Mrs. Wulf is going in today for the pre-op for another procedure on her foot. This one SHOULD be less invasive than the last ones, though one part of what they're doing is going to be to try to reduce the scar tissue from a previous one, so who knows....

This is an example of the sort of thing you call your union to have someone else in on that call when it happens here.
