Apparently, yesterday police in CT received 18 different "SWAT-ing" calls about active shooters at various schools, all of them fake... Who the **** does something like that? I'm so pissed I can't even bring myself to put an angry emoji here... Unless the perpetrator(s) were very careful, and clever, I can't imagine it will be long before the police they tried to play with are knocking upon their door. Assuming they are local anyway. I've personally known guys who were on the equivalent of a S.W.A.T. team. They might be inclined to exercise the warrant with extreme prejudice themselves. 6
Corsair
Fake 911 calls like that are felonies in every state in the US. Multiple calls? Not gonna be a good outcome. @Gadgetman! yes, get fluids into you! Get some broth or soup with lots of protein dropped off to you. Had that crud twice, you have to stay hydrated. Praying for you here.
Moderator Chaoswolf Posted October 22, 2022 Moderator Share Posted October 22, 2022 Dinner! 'Leftover' stew. Start with a can of Dinty Moore beef stew. Add all of the leftovers in the fridge. In this case: part of a pork roast, 1 chicken breast, a little bit of meat loaf, and some mixed vegetables. I also added onion, mushrooms, celery, some carrots, and a potato ( yes the beef stew has carrots and potatoes, but MOAR is always good). Add herbs and spices to taste.

If you have lost that much body fluid you are probably dehydrated. Hopefully the Ikea people will be understanding. Is there somebody that can make a grocery run for you? If so, consider having them pick up some sports drinks for you. Besides the liquid it will provide replacement electrolytes and a few calories. Powerade, which I drink on a regular basis for my migraine issues, helped get me through my bout of Covid late last winter. Try not to stress too much and let your body deal with this so you get well soonest. GEM The really horrible thing about dehydration is that most people doesn't realise that they are in danger, and since irritability is a common symptom, they're not going to take advice from anyone, because they know best themselves.. (This is a general observation) Another is reduced mental faculties... (If my brain had been working at even half capacity on thursday, I'd have called my doctor and gotten myself a blue light special trip to hospital.) In other words, I only remembered half an hour ago that I have a large box of sports drink powder. It's a bit stale, haven't done much hiking since Covid first appeared. (All the gyms closed, and after that there wasn't even room for a bicycle among all the horribly overpriced SUVs at any of the local trailheads ), but it tastes just as awful as before, so I expect it to be good. My red Reaper bottle is topped up now. IKEA... The problem is that the distribution point isn't one of their buildings, but one og the Norwegian Post's sorting and distribution centers. The goods are expected in during the day, and then we're supposed to pick it up between 2 and 6pm. I expect them to want to use the storage area for other things at night. 4

I'd be calling IKEA and explaining the situation and let them instruct the PO that the goods are either going to need to be held for an indeterminate number of days or they can expect The Plague to be let loose among their staff when you stagger/crawl in to pick up the package[s]. OR IKEA may elect to make alternate final delivery arrangements. Sympathy and may you have good luck. GEM

Green Eyed Monsty
Went to a live performance this evening. One Man Show of Samuel Clemens time in Nevada and how the pen name Mark Twain came to be. Very good show. It was announced that there will be a "Mark Twain Days" in Carson City next April 21st to 23 and there will be some sort of Guinness Book of Records event as part of the festivities. Glitterwolf
@Gadgetman! get well soon! Can't you have someone else pick that load up for you? Maybe someone can do some groceries for you and put them in front of your door? Eat some broth/soup, fruits if possible.

He's 85 and in poor health. And besides, his car is a Suzuki Baleno estate (also known as the Cultus Crescent or the Esteem in other markets. that thing is just 5' tall. Normal people have to do origami with their bodies to get in behind the wheel.) Not even the VW Caddy we have at the office can fit those packages. (IKEA BILLY, boxes are 220cm long. Longer than the diaonal of the cargo gold of that orked machine). My Berlingo CAN hold them because its the 'MultiSpace'(5 seater), and I've taken out 2/3 of the rear seats. When I slide the front passenger seat forward all the way and fold it forwards, I have just enough length there. But my car is quirky... And my insurance lists and me as the sole legal driver. One of those 80wide/200tall BILLYs is destined for my kitchen, at least temporarily, just to hold all my freeze-dried goods.... Going to make a fish soup in a couple of hours. One bag of soup, water, milk, a handful of macaroni, some nutmeg, and about 300gram of 'fish pudding' It usually ends up so thick that if it's allowed to settle for a few minutes before devouring, you can stand a spoon in it.
Rob Dean
It was a nice clear day at the top of Pike’s Peak yesterday. I took the cog railway up, since I’m out here for business and had the day off. But it was about 30F up there, with a windchill of about 0. I came prepared with a hat, a hat liner, warm layers, etc., but I had to take a glove off to take pictures, so I kept that to a minimum.
