Oh, forgot to post Sunday’s dinner here. Chopped steak topped with beef gravy and sautéed mushrooms with a side of roasted red potatoes and a bacon Caesar salad. C28C94D5-99FD-4D69-97FD-245858309961.thumb.jpeg.9e753fb171cc14d81bd1430184180aac.jpeg

That is some seriously smooth and brown gravy.....took a sec to realize you hadn't put chocolate sauce on your mushrooms and steak......

Thanks! It took me so long to make! I had to boil water and mix the powder in. Put some serious sweat into it!

what did you do that has them ready to fire you off into deep space?

Oh, I wish, I wish. I feel I was born 200 years too early. I should be on an exo-planetary ground survey crew scouting sites for colony landings and establishment. Instead, I’m stuck in a gravity well. I am curious if the thoughts that go thru my brain trying to fall asleep are worth pursuing. I mean, who knows?! Matter could be a sink for space-time while antimatter is a source. Sort of makes sense but I need to sit down and do the math, find some predictions that can be tested.

So all signs point to tomorrow as my back surgery.  With everything going on with our health care system there is still a small chance that something could delay it at the last minute, but otherwise I'm headed to the hospital tomorrow before lunch witha surgery set for 1 pm. Not saying I'm not a bit nervous (they ARE opening my spinal column) but I also can't wait for it to be done.  Well over a year of waiting and hoping nothing gets worse (it hasn't gotten too much worse) while being super careful and missing out on a bunch of things I'd have liked to do.  So I'm more that ready to get it done.

Praying here for you!

You should totally redraw all the technical specs so that they build the thing to allow you to stow away on it - it's not like anybody reads the damn plans once they're drawn up, right? lol

So, yesterday my nose was running like Usain Bold for Senate like a well-oiled machine on three cylinders like a leaky faucet*. I was preparing for the usual week of going through tissues like a kid through Halloween candy, as the common cold is wont to require.

But today, my nose is almost back to normal. And I'm not entirely sure that's a good thing. I've heard of several (and known, in three cases) people with a single day of of severe cold symptoms earlier this year. At the time, we still had heavy testing in our area, and all of them had Covid.

*you know, running might be one those English words with entirely too many meanings that might completely stump a non-native

Here's hoping it's not Covid.

Good luck! I hope it goes smoothly and that you recover quickly.

*shrug* I won't even find out.

See, due to my suspecting I may currently have Covid, I'm  not supposed to use the testing station just around the corner, but one I'd have to ride a couple of stations on the subway to get to. Because that somehow minimizes the risk of others being exposed if it is Covid, according to people who presumably aren't rationally intelligent enough to hold a different job than bureaucrat. (Yes, I actually called to confirm that.)

I'm not going to be as mad as our bureaucracy. I don't actually need to leave home for a couple of days (home office rules!), so I just won't. This has about run its course as far as my health is concerned already, so by about Friday, I shouldn't be infectuous anymore even if it was Covid.

Which means I could go to the testing station around the corner then, because I'll technically no longer be suspecting I currently have Covid. Eh, maybe I'll do that, but if I'm right, I should be testing negative even if I actually had Covid. So what the point, then?

Yay. . !

How soon can you tell us more, like what the mission is?

Oh, not a secret or anything. (Was just checking here before bed, thus the instant response). New Frontiers probe called Dragonfly. Supposed to put a quad-copter drone on Titan, one of Saturn's moons.

That sounds very very cool!

Can you equip it with some lasers and rockets, just in case it encounters the Borg?

Aaannnddd Youngest tested positive for Covid.

That makes it the third time she got it in two years, I think she has had all the variants now.

She had her shots the first rounds, this time she wasn't scheduled for one yet..

Oh well...
