Ugh....

Last couple of weeks have been, well, ugh.

Two Saturday's ago, I was supposed to be the weekend on call tech, but swapped with another tech.  Didn't matter.  One of the credit card payment platforms decided to do an update on their servers on a Friday night/Saturday morning, and completely borked it.  Even after they got it back online, it screwed things up enough that every one of our sites that uses them had to be manually reset to get them accepting credit cards again.  Wound up helping the on call tech for 5 hours straight that Saturday, which borked up all my weekend plans.  Then on Monday, one of our customers discovered an exploit that was allowing people to get a free car wash from their tellers using bad debit cards. Finally figured out how they were doing that and spent all day Wednesday getting the affected sites updated to stop the exploit, and managed to blow up a computer.  Like "fried most of the chips on the board" type of blowing up.

Finally starting to get caught up, and now all of a sudden some guy who has had the hardware sitting at his wash for a particular feature upgrade for four years has suddenly decided that he has to get it installed and working this week.  Yeah, that ain't happening.  Especially since I have 15 minutes left before my 3 day weekend starts.

On the plus side, my son is back from his sub patrol, so we can call, text and email him again.

So we've had some wet days here, most of it is just rain storms from a over-active system running through the PNW right now. Some of the days thou have been a light snow-wet rain mix (not really a sleet, but just as wet), yesterday thou.... Came home yesterday from work & it was doing the "sleet" thing but nothing was really sticking to the ground. I came home, got something to eat & then headed up to bed as of course Weds nights are my FLGS game night. When I woke up around 330 or so, I saw it did stick & we had a light covering over the grass & dirt areas. At least the streets were still clear & such & when I went to the game store it was cold & it got colder as the night grew longer. I think the temps were in the 20s, at least they felt like the 20s.

Snow pretty much melted off the areas that got sun today but the white crap did stick around in the shady areas. It's gonna make raking up leaves a hassle this year. Thanks to our warmer then normal fall weather, allot of trees here haven't dropped their leaves & that includes most of the ones in my backyard.

Reaper order came yesterday, tried to upload pics but the board is borked right now for that, just gives the paperclip icon. Either way, glad to have the Cathy Wappel minis, I just wish her helm bearer mini would have been made as in Bones material. If I had known that one wasn't going to be part of it like the Darksword version, I would have went after that one first. Either way good for Reaper for helping out a great person in the hobby & overall.

Howdy howdy, everybody.

Strange feeling, tonight. Visited the friendly (not so) local game store for the first time in a while and sold a bunch of dragon minis to a guy I was playing D&D with before the group swelled up and I bailed. I was kinda bummed. All Reaper, but I’ll never paint them and have started working toward liquidating a lot of stuff and was happy to send them to a good home.

But aaaaaaaanyway, did some shopping while I was there of course and discovered that the f(ns)lgs has started carrying Reaper products! This was once a thing I dreamed of seeing, and, while I’m not really into the painting scene much at all anymore, it warmed my heart all the same. They had a display with a couple dozen or so minis maybe, Bones and metal, even some Warlord stuff, and also a little stand of those dice jars or whatever.

Kinda nice for the world to catch up to me and leave me behind all at the same time. Good times. 😌

Nah, can't use this one until the pandemic is actually over.

Since it has degenerated into just another cold virus, though still admittedly a rather virulent one, in most areas, it is for most practical purposes over.

Most of the active cold viruses today are the degenerated descendants of the Spanish Flu [which actually started in Kansas, USA] that took such a heavy toll circa 1918.  That one is part of the same family of viruses from which the most recent pandemic developed.

Ooh, those look very much like the crèpes we make back home.

Pan fried in butter and then drizzled in maple syrup is the TRUETM way to eat them. At least from a French-Canadian perspective.

A true Crepe is thinner than a Pancake, but it's the same stuff otherwise.

Crepes are also great for dessert with icecream, fruits and whipped cream ( of course even a brick would taste good with all of that)
