Survived day one of parental visit.  Wound up being taken out to get work boots (by my request, since mine really need replacing) and dad was all "no, you're getting ~good~ boots" Aaaaand since we see your shoes are dead we're also replacing those.  Obligatory socks were also purchased, with mom insisting I clearly needed eight pairs.

We also raided Deserres, an art store, and I now have a 9x12 Fabriano Mixed Media fat pack plus a thing of Fabriano Bristol (smooth), and four more Faber Castell Pitt markers (the four black set), plus a make your own fox kit (dad insisted on it, it's cute, so I'll make it soon).

Worst part of the day wasn't being a human GPS (aka navigator), but in all honesty it was the ribs for supper.  Ribs shouldn't need a steak knife to eat!

Ribs should never require anything more to eat than your fingers, or a fork. Wherever you went, it is a place I think best be avoided.

Finally a) have internet b) the forums are up and c) got caught up.

I am alive. I’m told that the surgery went well. Still in hospital. Still lots of pain.

glad you're back. Sorry about the pain, but I hope that's only a small hiccup on the way to mending up.

That was pretty much my thought.  They used to be good (and have been reasonably decent when we've gotten their stuff through Uber a few times the past year), but I was all... Wow.  Dad was amazed I didn't say anything other than a quiet "no" to him asking if I'd order them again.  Well, at least until we got outside, then I gave a full explanation of my thoughts, and dad also agreed with the same sentiments you have.

Sadly it would seem MKT is not as good as they used to be.

Well shoot, Saturday Witchlight game got called at the last moment due to one player wasn't feeling well when he woke up this morning + I haven't heard a confirm from anther (which is unusual, since he normally gets ahold of me sometime after I message him. Our 3rd player, who is a returning player, had a last minute plan change on him, so he couldn't make it. I'm beginning to wonder if the Saturday game is gonna be a thing here anymore.....

We'll see if we can play in 2 weeks, as I'm trying to offset it from Pathfinder Friday nights. I did do a bit of leaf clean-up, thou all I did was just blow some into a large pile. If you take our front yard & look at it as a left & right of the driveway, I got the ones on the left side in a pile. With the way our weather has been, the ones in the right side haven't all fallen yet. Same can be said about the backyard trees too. I'm not sure when the city free pick up is. I should find out, but most likely we'll probably miss that day as we really haven't started on any clean up.

I guess I could do some hobbies, we shall see.

Glad to hear you are doing well. Relax and focus on healing, enjoy being taken care of by the hospital staff.

now I just have to decide if I want $200 worth of cheap minis or just a couple of really expensive ones.

My vote is for one expensive mini. That way you can show off what management got you. 😉

???

No they are mostly other (much more benign)  kinds of RhinoViruses.

Says who? …and why should I believe this solitary(?) voice?

The Origin point of the “Spanish Influenza” is unknown as far as I have ever read.  Spain is just where it was first really noticed.

Uhh, No. (??)

Influenza viruses are all H1N1 viruses.  They are different from CoronaViruses.

SARS and MERS were other types of Corona viruses.

The origin of what became known as "The Spanish Flu" was an Army Camp in Kansas, circa March 1918  [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_flu ]

I stand corrected  on the families, however, both viruses cause the same sort of over-reaction, that being a Cytokine Storm, resulting in hospitalization and death in way too many cases.

Once we learn how to control the bodies over-reaction we will be well on the way to mitigating the effects of multiple classes of viral infections.
