Popular Post AlonTey
Fear not Reaperites, I haven't forgotten November. A few random items from the pile at the top of the month and then a more focused selection of models to be used for Rangers of Shadow Deep. Group Shot Reaper Zombie Giant Bones V 1007 Spoiler Also featured... - TTCombat halfling zombie - Mantic zombie x 2 - Tombstones from GW mancrusher gargant and Reaper Jahenna 77669 This was a fun one. In the tradition of Reaper giants he's a bit small for a DND standard 3" base so I thought I'd base him with a smattering of other zombies pulling themselves from the grave dirt to follow this towering nexus of necromantic energy. While there is a frost giant zombie stat block I think I'm actually intending to run him as a zombie t-rex to represent all the zombies that will keep popping up around him. Reaper Baran Blacktree, Veteran Warrior 07002 (Bones V 335) Spoiler Lots of very inspiring versions of this model floating around on the internet. Intend to use him to represent my ranger in Rangers of Shadow Deep. Reaper Henchmen and Hirelings 44149 Spoiler Lov Love, love this model. The horns were a bit too....opera for the grim and grimy look I'm aiming for so I trimmed them. She'll be Helen, my knight companion for RoSD. Reaper Henchmen and Hirelings 44149 Spoiler Didn't turn out too bad (I think the hair and skin look good) but wasn't quite a hundred percent what I was aiming for. He'll be Al the arcanist for RoSD. Reaper Henchmen and Hirelings 44149 Spoiler Hats off to Bobby Jackson for this whole set. The sculpts have so much character I barely felt like I had to do any work with the brush. Ron, my rogue companion for RoSD. TTCombat Halfling Archer Spoiler Bagnor, my Archer companion for RoSD. Nolzur's Grick Alpha Spoiler Feel like I could have done a bit better on the rubbery skin but overall fine for gaming. Nolzur's Gnoll Witherling Spoiler Skeleton Bone contrast paint works surprisingly well over Nolzurs straight out of the box. Nolzur's Triceratops Spoiler Easily the most time consuming part of this model was debating what color a triceratops should be. I settled on something between Land Before Time and a basketball. Looking forward to repeating the paint scheme on my Bones triceratops. Epic Miniatures Gas Spore Spoiler One of my ongoing projects is to complete a model for every entry in the Monster Manual and after a ....very...poor....attempt at modelling my own gas spore I found this fellow on Etsy. Quick and easy. EnderToys Two Story Cottage Spoiler Also featuring... - Lantern from OOP GW WHFB watchtower - Shield from WHFB State Troopers Needed a bunch of houses for scenario 1 of RoSD and the cottage bundle from EnderToys seemed to fit the bill without breaking the budget. I strongly recommend ordering these direct from EnderToys instead from Amazon as the item shipped incorrectly twice before cancelling the order out right. EnderToys Two Story Cottage Spoiler Also featuring... - Small decoration from OOP GW WHFB watchtower - Sign from Dungeons and Lasers 2 extras Bonus of the two incorrect Amazon orders is I had extra houses. Extra bits added to distinguish the houses from each other and to break up the otherwise extremely blocky shape of these inexpensive houses. EnderToys Tavern Building Spoiler No modifications, straight out of the box. Very quick paint job, took like a quarter of the time each of the two story cottages took. Back next month with at least two more houses, some zombies, a dude with a bow, some rats, some spiders and gnolls.
Patrik Strom
Fantastic! The zombie giant especially. I love the extra zombies on the base.

Rigel
Love the expressions on the henchfellows! That arcanist in particular looks like he knows he's gotten into a situation he'd rather not be in. Great job on the zombie giant (especially the zom-basing!) and that gas spore too.

Moderator Chaoswolf Posted December 7, 2021 Moderator Share Posted December 7, 2021 Very nice work all around! I've been eyeing those Ender Toys buildings for a while now. What do you think of them? Any assembly issues?
Darcstaar
Great job on everything. The terrain is fantastic. The grick alpha is on mean beastie.

AlonTey
Thanks all. Extremely kind words from a bunch of people whose work has been a big inspiration for me. They're worth it, I'd say. Short review? Perfect if you value form over function for your terrain, overall good compromise if you're willing to put some labor into them, definitely are nicer looking options if the time and budget allow. Long review? Pros - Cheap. Four buildings for less than a single building will run you through Etsy and waaay less than ordering from Europe or something (...those urbanmatz buildings haunt my dreams...) - Fast Delivery. Arrived in under a week. - No assembly. Everything came ready to use out of the box. - Durable. If you didn't glue on a bunch of junk like I did you could easily toss these in a box to take to a store/convention. - The scale issues from the reviews are overplayed. Yes, would love the houses to be bigger (the smallest on in particular would be little more than a shed) but reaper models look completely reasonable beside them. Cons - No texture to speak of. Tried to get creative with paint to compensate (blotched on the daub parts, painted exaggerated wood grain) - VERY boxy. Model looks a little unnaturally, perfectly, square. Door looks less like it's built into the wall and more like it's a different part of the wall. Ultimately I'd like to get some of those nicer options as well and then use these less expensive options to fill in space if I were to go whole hog with a cityscape.
