Popular Post deathly halliwell
Hi again, This morning I tidied up probably my last mini before the holiday period, the metal version of Christina, Female Cleric. I decided to try out some OSL to finish off my RCL pop-ups. The paint scheme is based on a PC in a group I used to DM for who worshipped a deity whose holy symbol is a rose. Included is an image of the bones Christina I did five-ish years ago when I first started the hobby. Quite a difference! ManvsMini
That is a nice rose on the shield! I like it very much, and would be proud to have that mini on my shelf/table.
Darcstaar
Fantastic improvement! Your original was good quality in terms of precision placement of base coats, similar (though better) than what you’d get from a pre-painted figure. Now you are producing a mini that people would likely pay good money for. I love the split heraldry in the shield.
Evilhalfling
the rose is outstanding

Iridil
Wow - so much improvement! I am blown away by the rose - and splitting the shield color behind it really made it pop

Thank you Darcstaar, I agree about precise base coats but am glad to have improved. 🙂 I am glad the heraldry worked well! 3 hours ago, Evilhalfling said: the rose is outstanding Thank you! 3 hours ago, Glitterwolf said: You levelled up! Moderator Chaoswolf Posted December 22, 2021 Moderator Share Posted December 22, 2021 I love seeing when people paint a miniature and then paint it again a few years later, it's one of the easiest ways to see how good one has gotten. The rose on her shield is amazing; very nice work there!
Poilu_1914
I have to jump on the bandwagon, that freehand rose is amazing, and love the before figure too, always nice to see how soemone progresses as they gain experience.
Grim
Very, very nice! I actually painted her up once as a wedding gift for a friend - she played a cleric of Milani (from the Pathfinder universe - she's the goddess of rebellion against Tyranny and her symbol is a rose growing from bloody pavement) in our game so I also put a rose on the shield. Not as nice as yours, though. As someone pointed out - I really love the counterchanged shield, and the OSL looks really, really good as well. I'll have to see if I can't dig up a picture or something. Edited December 23, 2021 by Grim

I decided to do the rose first and then the bleeding pavement but was so happy with the rose that I chickened out of trying the pavement... 🙂 I would certainly like to see yours!
Grim
I had to do some digging, but I found the pictures I took. This was June of 2019, my wife did the freehand though I colored it. My friend had purple hair at the time, so it was partly her character, partly her. I think I'm between your two versions in execution. 🙂

I'm sure the person to whom it was presented was very pleased!

Oh, she loved it. 🙂 We got her a gift off of their registry, too, but I wanted to give her something more personal that I thought she would like. It is fun to paint these up for friends...
