I'm tempted, I just hate that so much software has gone to subscription models like this.  I miss buy it once and keep it forever, even if that does mean I don't get future updates.....

Oh, I hate it too, don’t get me wrong. But I’ll suck it up for now.

I got it at 50% off. Now the offer is 50% off with a bonus month on top.

A desktop publisher that I like switched to a 'subscription model' a few years ago.

The new version of their software just came out.

Buy it once, and works on Windows, Mac, and Mobile... no subscription.

I am guessing that they were rather disappointed with the economics of their subscription service. (Affinity Publisher.)

Printed a build plate of minis today and the right side all failed. Thought it was something wrong with the printer again, but I checked the print file and 1 mini was somehow sitting off the build plate, which may have cause other stuff to fail. Plus I was printing mini at 70% and 80% scale, so likely pushing over the limit of what the pre-supports could handle.

Printed it again this afternoon after fixing the mini in the air and spacing them all out so their rafts weren’t touching and everything stayed attached and printed fine. Hooray!

I really don’t understand my printer sometimes. Yesterday I printed a plate of minis and 4/9 failed in the middle back of the plate because they didn’t adhere to the build plate. The ones that printed looked great.

Printed another plate right after with no changes and that was fine. So I reprinted the failed plate overnight and it printed without issue.

I’m happy it worked second time around, but I’d love to know why some of my prints fail for no obvious reason.

Could it be that something in the area causes a disturbance? Like a laundry machine or someting else that can cause the printer to shake, bump or something?

No, my printer is in the garage and the only other things on the same bench are the wash and cure units. Plus it was during the day, with the garage closed and no one in there the whole time.

No heavy traffic that could cause it?

Just trying to eliminate options here. It's kinda strange that the same batch prints bad at first and then without a problem.

There should be a difference in circumstances if the settings aren't changed.

Hmmm, one more idea.

The same batch, but was the file orientated exactly the same when printed both times?

Were the same figures on the left side for example?

I think I’ve figured out the issue. When I put my build plate back on, unless I push the bottom of the plate down and back when screwing it on, it ends up sitting on a slightly different angle.

Not sure why that’s happening now as I don’t remember it happening a few months ago, but I’ve had 4 plates print without issue today when I’ve pushed the plate down and back when tightening it. So I’ll keep doing that in the future.

That could be it!

A slightly different angle means different pulling force!

And it would explain why some things just completely fail in a section as one half of the plate would be slightly higher now.

I have no idea where this change came from, but at least I know how to avoid it.

Welp, looks like my printer is out of action until further notice. I tried to print this morning and the build plate attempted to grind its way through the bottom of the printer.

Fortunately no damage done to the screen, but it looks like the limit switch (a sensor that tells the printer the build plate has reached the bottom and should stop) has died and needs replacing.
