Iodine. As a solid it is lustrous gray in color, as a liquid it is deep violet/near black, and as a gas it is distinctly violet, and from its vapor color was the name suggested.

When a Roman numeral is placed after another Roman numeral of greater value, the result is the sum of the numerals. When certain numerals are repeated, the number represented by them is their sum. Using this highly-simplified lesson, we therefore have 50+10+10+10= 80.
