Question 304: What is the tallest free-standing mountain in the world?

Mount Kilimanjaro. While not the tallest mountain in the world, it is not part of a mountain range, which makes it the tallest free-standing mountain in the world. It is also the tallest mountain in Africa.

 

 

Question 305: Where is the only royal palace in the United States located?

In Hawaii. `Iolani Palace is the only official royal residence on United States soil, having been used by the rulers of the Kingdom of Hawai'i until the collapse of the monarchy in 1893.

 

 

Question 306: What does the "J." stand for in actor Michael J. Fox's name?

Answer:

Absolutely nothing. Born Michael Andrew Fox, and first being credited as Michael Fox, he required a unique name for Screen Actors Guild membership, but discovered that "Michael Fox" was already taken by another actor. Fearing "Michael A. Fox" sounded too much like the Canadian "Eh" interjection (as he hails from Canada), he settled on using "J" instead.

 

 

Question 307: How many pips/dots are there on a common six-sided die?

21. You could look at a six-sided die and count the pips, or simply add the sum of each sides value: 6+5+4+3+2+1=21

 

 

Question 308: Which espresso drink is named for a religious order?

Answer:

Cappuccino. The name comes from the order of Capuchin friars. A form of the Italian word cappuccio ("hood"), it refers not to the actual hoods worn by the friars, but to the actual color of the hood, which is a red-brown.

 

 

Question 309: What informal group of writers were J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis part of in Oxford?
