Bones Pledge Manager 5.5 information and discussion thread

This post is for information and discussion of the Bones 5.5 Pledge Manager only.

 

This is the current status of Bones 5.5:

• The system to place additional or new orders has been disabled.
• Orders have been reviewed.
• All purchase orders with the vendors we use in China have been placed.
• Deposits ensuring the beginning of production have been made.
• We've been told that production will commence before the start of Chinese New Year and will be completed after the
• Chinese New Year. For those not aware of how Chinese New Year works, the country closes all types of businesses for 4-6 weeks. In the case of one of our vendors, their factory will be closed the last week of January and will reopen after the first week of March.
• We expect updated shipping and production information after the end of Chinese New Year.
• Our next email update will be in March.

Production is still ongoing now that Chinese New Year is over. One of the factories had like 50% of their workforce out sick with Covid about 2 weeks ago. 
 

Ed has claimed on the last 2 Reaper Lives that he’d send out an update the next day, but it’s Ed, and he never gets to it.

I'm not worried about it yet. Is it nice to have stuff by the expected delivery date? Yes. Does that happen? Not often.   Will Reaper deliver? Yes. 

 

I wish I could remember what I ordered.  I don't remember what email I used for the "2nd account".

I have reminded him this morning. 🙂 So we should hopefully see something soon.

As all of the orders are now in do you know if you’ll be delivering the UK orders from the UK hub?

All will come from Texas, is my understanding.

I recieved an email today.  So...  looks like a June-August time frame?  I am not worried about the delay, but I am moving around then.  I just wanted some clarity on where I will be sending my box.

The email from March 23 estimated everything would be packed by June 30th.

I think that (packed) means in a container (or several) buttoned up and ready to roll away from the factory (on June 30).
 

8 Steps after that are:

Roll to a Chinese container terminal (port).

Load onto a container ship. 
Container ship transits Pacific Ocean from port (Shenzen?) to Panama. 
Ship transits Panama Canal. 
Ship transits Gulf of Mexico to Houston. 
Unloads at Houston TX. 
Customs. 
Rolls by either truck or rail or both to Denton.

5.5 Update - 3

 

Greetings all, Ed here.

I need to apologize first, as the last update was written and sent to be emailed and then lost in the works.

Where we left off was getting a shipping schedule together. Below you will find the actual reply messages we received from each of the two vendors concerning the production time frame.

Currently we are planning to take the shipments through the Panama Canal and unload in Houston Tx. This adds to the shipping charge but should allow faster transit to us once unloaded. 

Please understand that the Omicron surge currently ravaging China and Hong Kong is not over, and as with all things, times could slip.

 

Vendor 1 

Hi Ed and the Reaper team,

 

I trust you are all doing well, but the situation in China is getting worse due to the Omicron pandemic. In Dongguan, where over 50% of the world’s toys are produced and our factory is situated has been locked today to March 21, 2022. No production nor logistic activities are allowed and so we have no choice but to shut down our production. The labor shortage situation has been improving but this shutdown will derange our production planning’s. I hope we can resume production on March 22, but I really don’t know. Some orders will be delayed but we will do our best to keep the ship date we promised. We will do the best we can.

 I will update you as soon as I have more information. Thank you for your understanding. Take care!

Here are the estimated timelines for the two projects for reference:

Bones 5 reorder: 

Mass production: March 22nd--May 10th

     Assembly:        April 25th--May 20th

    Inspection:       May 10th--May 30th

      Packing:         May 30th--June 30th

Do you have any further update on whether production started as planned or if there are further delays due to the ongoing covid situation?

 

Also, do you know what shipping method you will use for delivery to the UK?

Last Thursday they said they were waiting for 5.5 to be loaded onto a ship.  When that will actually happen, they can't say. Delays are ongoing in ports worldwide.

In the emailed update (6/7) it said that orders that can be fulfilled from the first shipment will be sent out without waiting for the second shipment to arrive.  Do we know what items are in the first shipment?
