dwarf ghosts

Not that it'll help me now, I need them next week, but it would be nice to have them in catalog, along with other ghost races.

As I'm (sort of) getting close to painting the rest of my Bones 4 and 5 and reviewing my Bones 6 order, few gaps in my collection I'd love to see filled in Bones 7.

  • Phoenix miniature, honestly would be content whether it's small/friendly like in Harry Potter or huge/menacing like in Fantasia 2.
  • Male equivalents of Daffodil, Lily, and Daisy from the upcoming Briarwood Vale set. Faeries are PC options in at least the two most popular fantasy RPG games, and finding male miniatures is hard, even on Etsy.
  • A male Earth "Elemental Scion" (Djinn) and female Water Elemental Scion to round out the six that have come out.
  • A few more Chaos Toads from the Bones 4 Fan Favorite set to make a few more not-Slaad.
  • Not-Gith in a similar vein to Wildfolk and Bathalians.
  • Human/Humanoid Samurai and Ninjas to round off the Daimyo set since it hit Dinomen, undead, Half-Orcs, Goblins, and elementals, but not humans.
  • More Yokai, those were a blast to paint.
  • Different kinds of giants beyond the core six. For example, the Sea Giant looks great and unique.
  • Different-looking dragons like maybe a fat one, one like the old half-skeletal one, two-headed, other things that are different than the classic look since that's pretty well covered.
  • A few more vampire hunters/inquisitors like the two in the Dreadmere set.
  • Hastur, the King in Yellow.

I've been thinking about something I'd like to see as an expansion set for Bones 7: Animals.  Lots of normal animals, and perhaps some giant versions.  Maybe some farm animals (horses without saddle or gear, cows, a bull, pigs, sheep, goats), some large wild animals (rhino, elephant, giraffe),  smaller predators (hyenas, an assortment of wild cats, wild boars, wolverines), large birds (an ostrich would be really cool, maybe a giant owl and/or eagle), deer, or a camel without packs on its back.  Also include giant versions of normal animals; the 1e Monster Manual included giant versions of stags, turtles, otters, lizards, goats, wolverines, boars, weasels, beavers, and even porcupines, and what DM doesn't want to make his players face a giant porcupine?  And that is just one very old sourcebook; I'm sure plenty of other giant animals have showed up along the way.

been wanting animals for a few kickstarters now,
seems like a big ask for one expansion
but would see a chunk released per themed expansions

I wasn't actually expecting them to include all of them, I just wanted to toss out a bunch of ideas.  Though if they did only one of each, it would not be all that big; I only named about 30 animals, and each of the Bones 6 expansions had more than thirty miniatures.  And only a few of these would be significantly larger than man-sized.  But I'll be happy with any animal-themed expansion, as long as it is actualy animals and not a bunch of anthropomorphic ones (though that might also be an interesting expansion in its own right).

its not unreasonable, and i'd like the animal set
reaper just has released expansions more by area themes
like a farm expansion, a savanah expansion, a jungle expansion, a forest expansion, a water expansion

also i don't expect repeat of some they already did like boars and goats
and the pack is optional on the camel

I forgot that there were boars, probably because they come with another mini rather than being on their own.  I did not realize Reaper even had a camel, but I'll add it to my wish list.  My comment about packs was based on other camel minis I've seen.  I can't find any goats in Bones, though; have they just not made it to retail yet?  Did I just miss them somehow?  All I can find is the goat in this set in metal (and all three of these animals could presumably be re-released in plastic).

Some of the past expansions have been a little looser than others in terms of theme.  It seems like a good idea to shake things up a little anyway, based on the Bones 6 sales being down from the previous Kickstarters.  There's no reason they have to stick to the same types of themes next time around.

goat were bones 5 and did not get to retail yet
the thing with bones 6 is bones 5 was pre pandemic peak while bones 6 was inflated and people were playing remote

That is a good point about Bones 5 versus 6, but it still reflects a dropoff in pledges, and it is still a different situation where a different approach might well be justified.

I am not sure how many times I have looked at the Bones 5 mini offerings (I started buying up miniatures a bit too late to have actually been a part of that Kickstarter), and I had never noticed the goats.  When you mentioned that they were in Bones 5, I went looking and, after much searching, I saw them walking across that bridge.  And all this time, I thought that particular set was just a troll, a bridge, a traveler, and some treasure.  Now I finally see the goats.  It makes me wonder what else I just haven't noticed.

Honestly, at this point, I'd just love to see some kind of evidence that the Chronoscope line - or Reaper science-fiction/fantasy in general - isn't dead; the last releases in the line were re-molds of the not-Oz minis, and the last Reaper sci-fi minis in general (not counting CAV) were from RVE, which was ages ago.

My $.02:

On another thread I asked about getting more arches and statues from the Crypt of the Dwarf King set.  Honestly I'd love to see some terrain sort of themed around de-generic-ing (that's a word now) regular dungeon layouts - I can put down my dungeon tiles and my Dirt Cheap Dungeon walls, but the addition of a dwarven arch and a statue makes it way more *real* and gives it way more flavor.

Basically I think of this as like dwarf-themed scatter terrain, then maybe elf-themed scatter, orc-themed scatter...there's already so much human-themed scatter in the world it seems like an over-saturated market.  A quick trip to Etsy reveals a modest number of dwarf-themed terrain pieces with the caveat that there's going to be print strata and the usual 3D print brittleness.  I think Reaper's bones or the new 3D print stuff would be orders of magnitude better.

I like this idea very much.  I have a few thoughts to add.  First, I would much prefer true scatter; broken walls like they have in the Hakir expansion in Bones 6, while interesting, are much more limited in their usefulness.  Second, I would suggest avoiding treasure chests and treasure piles, as there are many of those already available.  With a quick Reaper search I found 7 different free-standing chests (some with treasure piled around them), and 8 generic-looking piles of treasure (plus several more specific ones, like a cloak or scrolls), and I probably missed some.  (I suppose if Reaper was just looking to re-release existing metal treasures in Bones plastic, that wouldn't be bad, but no need to sculpt new ones.)  Third, sarcophagi are also pretty easy to find, so those are not ideal either.

So what would I include?  Arches and doorways are good.  Traps are also nice to have.  Fountains are not hard to find, but most of the ones out there are very elaborate, and a simple one would be nice.  Boxes that are NOT treasure chests (foot lockers, crates, barrels, etc.).  I'd love to see pools of liquid for the floor.  Maybe some small plants and fungus.  Statues, both full and broken.  Immobile monsters could be included too; puddles of slime or mold, or carnivorous plants, or other things along those lines.  And I'd love to see stalagmites.  Maybe boulders too, but it is easy enough to just use a real rock.  But maybe some boulders that have carvings, or gems sticking out of them, or something along those lines.  And crystal formations; Reaper already has a few of those, but more would be nice.

Speaking as someone who's into this for painting, I have a couple really stupid and unhinged ideas that're probably never going to happen, but before I mention those, I'd probably want to start with the more sane ones.

Specifically, first off, I'd love to see some HG Wells-type Martians, ideally done in that sort of very specific Japanese stylization, maybe even with a larger-scale tripod if we wanted to get extra-wild!

Also, female were-creatures. I am surprised there aren't any in Bones, and speaking as someone who's... interests that's relevant to, more of those would be neat. Probably a werewolf and a werecat are gimmees, and wererat; wereboar and werebear as secondaries.

Thinking in terms of more esoteric weres I'd like in both masc and femme forms, a were-elephant to potentially double as a loxodon/make good SEO money from Mario Wonder coming soon would be fun, and a were-grasshopper would be great because the 90s Shin Kamen Rider is cool. Were-dinosaurs would also be good, tho you'd probably have to make them more monstrous to avoid competing with other dino-humanoid figures. If we're taking from concepts that furries have added to werebeasts, werehorses and wereskunks would be fun, the latter feels like it'd have some especially fun paintjob potential if one can freehand.

Also, stuff based off the book of Revelation. Like, they're public domain, they're surreal horrifying monsters, there's a lot to choose from. Like, there's the obvious Four Horsement, the Whore of Babylon and the Dragon, the various Beasts, Apollyon (Who I imagine taking inspiration from the Castlevania version's design and also using a giant key as a "weapon"), the horrible man-faced scorpion-locusts, those weird secondary horsebeasts that spread that plague, the many eyed lamb with the slit throat, maybe the star Wormwood interpreted as a monster, there's a lot you could go with and I'd love all of it.

Thinking about it, this also goes for Heironymus Bosch. There's so many freaky, awful little demon-guys from that guy's work that are completely in the public domain that would be perfect for minis, I know I'd have fun painting them! Ditto for the deeper cuts from the Oz books, because like, I know Reaper has those steampunk-y Oz minis in Chronoscope, but like, what about the ones from the books after the first? Like, Tick-Tock, Jack Pumpkinhead, the Sawhorse, the Nome King, the Patchwork Girl, those are just a few off the top of my head! They're all public domain and there's loads of deep cuts to choose from!

And, for the stupid idea that motivated me to get an account: Aeromorphs and the tank equivalent to aeromorphs that I don't know the name of. Which, if you don't know, Aeromorphs are more or less anthropomorphic jet planes that usually look like they're drawn by perverts. There are sometimes tank or other millitary vehicle equivalents (Though sadly I have yet to see one based on the Bob Semple yet). But I genuinely think that as a "new weird"-style creature archetype that deserves to show up in stuff beyond the prurient, because it's such a simple yet visually striking and unique concept (especially if you make it extra weird by putting them in an otherwise conventional-ish fantasy setting), and I sincerely think they'd work well in the more gonzo-modern Chronoscope range

Finally, on a related note, something inspired by the concept of the Dorse/Queen's Stallions. Which, if you have the good fortune of not knowing about it, if you strip all the NSFW baggage from it is basically a human distorted into a grotesque horselike form to be used as a beast of burden, a bit like those Tommy Wiseau horses from that one Skyrim mod, and a concept I think is genuinely fun and disturbing for a "new weird" sort of body-horror vibe, a bit J-horror if you get me.

I've got loads more "things I want minis of" where that came from, but I think this is a good start. If only to show that yes, in fact, I am Like That.
