Bones You'd Like to See, thread #5

I like the Mothman and other cryptids idea - there is a Nessie-type creature in one of the Bones V aquatic expansions, but Mothman, the Hat-Man/Shadow-Man, Jersey Devil, Montauk Monster, chupacabra, the Flatwoods Visitor, menacing Men in Black, Melonheads....

Treants/Tree-folk seem fairly under-represented - I was just telling someone the other day that there really doesn't seem like very many Tolkien-style Ents out there in a reasonable size, beyond the colossal tree-man Reaper released in a Kickstarter a couple years ago (which was a fantastic model, but huge!  Something maybe a little closer to the size of Bones giants would be just right....)

Halflings and Gnomes - Bobby Jackson's halflings and deep gnomes are fantastic, I'd love to see more in this style, including more female gnomes and halflings.  (The adventuring kids from one of the last couple Kickstarters also make brilliant halflings/gnomes!)

Here are some traditional fantasy suggestions:

-A colony of giant ants (some small workers, a few medium soldiers, a couple of swarms and a big queen)
-A band of gargoyles (some regular ones, a spellcaster and a leader)
-A band of nordic adventurers / viking raiders
-A group of ents / treefolks

I support this

I will say this again in case it got buried in the sauce...

VIKING LONGSHIP!!!!

Maybe the the figure head can have swappable choices like a viking style dragon head, Raven head, Wolf head, etc.

I remember being on that boat (pun intended) for wanting a longship. Especially with Norse themed figures always being popular.

It's big, without being too big. Size wise, I'm picturing something in line with the barge of the dead.

And if the shields on the side are swappable/cutomizable), we can get a lot of use out of it.

There were a number of awesome sets of minis from Bones V that could just use a couple more to round out a squad (Harpies, Slithe, Briarlings, Satyr/Fauns)

Other than that, I'd love to see:

- Stirges

- A full squad of Illithid

- More female monsters of all types like the female bugbear that was previewed

- For the love of Magubliyet can a man get some decent Bones Black hobgoblins?

- Maybe adapting these guys and rounding them out to full squad? https://www.reapermini.com/miniatures/dhl/sku-up/03040

- Seriously, would love to see more hobgoblins...

DRAGON RIDERS!

Seriously, we have all sorts of Bones Dragons to choose from now, and all sorts of best selling PC types, but only one dragon with rider.

Take six* top selling PC type figures, match them with an existing Bones dragon, then sculpt the PCs into a riding pose along with a saddle for their chosen dragon. Make riders and saddles separate so they can be mixed and matched.

During the KS, all six of the dragon riders could be sold as a bundle, and their matching dragons as add-ons in the pledge manager.

For retail, put each rider & saddle combo in a blister pack, and have the packaging clearly indicate which dragon they're intended to go with.

The result is that for 6 new SKUs combined with 6 existing SKUs, you effectively get 36 dragon & rider combinations.

Timing would be ideal for Bones 6, as it's rumored that a Dragonlance supplement for D&D 5e is coming in 2023

*or more than six - I'm fine with that.  Six just seemed like a reasonable number. Five is reasonable, too.

Sensibly dressed women- or at least women dressed to the same level of protection and appropriateness as the men (e.g.- the brinewind doxies are fine in context so long as some equally enticing men are included). It would be great to see equality, not just tokenistic representation across the expansions.

But also, more specifics:

  • Battle Llama
  • Bald male/female wizards
  • Book golem

I'll second that.  I hope that Reaper never stops doing the "cheesecake" style minis - the artists and sculptors do a really good job with them, and they're a lot of fun! - but variety is the spice of life and all that, so definitely sprinkle a few more sensibly-dressed women into the mix.  And maybe a few more "inappropriate" guys, for that matter - it's not my thing, but why not?  (I take it the scantily-clad male demons/incubi that were paired with succubi in an add-on for the last Kickstarter were something of a sensation with some of the ladies and LGBTetc. gamers in my sister's RPG group!)

I recently painted the pig and cart from bones 4, and realised a donkey and cart would make a great addition to a villager set 😉

Also, crafts(wo)men and artisans from various races, much like Nub, Tub, the dwarven butcher and the elven blacksmith that are available. A half-orc potter, halfling farmers, a blacksmith and stablehand shoeing a horse, etc.

A fun expansion maybe: a Stagecoach with horses and driver, and 4-5 mounted bandits (cowboys). Can be a wild West set, but easily adapted to a fantasy or steampunk setting.

Seconding the mounted adventurers that were mentioned earlier. Would like to add a fairy on a hummingbird or hummingbird griffon.

Also the set of random enlarged/dire animals would be fun!

And a Fae expansion 😍

Not Bones, But MSP I'd like to see:   Large bottles of auxiliary products like Brush-on Sealer and Flow Improver. Especially since you are selling airbrushes, it would make sense to offer some larger sized bottles of those, maybe primers as well. Yes, there are companies already doing this and the difference between comparable products may be subjective but I am Reaper-biased and would love to have larger bottles of at least Reaper's Brush-on Sealer.
