February 26th Question of the Day:

Who was your favorite teacher in school and why?

Mr. Rau, my everything teacher in High School. We went to a small school and he was also my neighbour, so I knew him really well. He taught me English, French and Math. He was just so comical. He would sleep in English. In French he would sing and play his guitar. He made up his own songs about French verbs. In French, he demonstrated masculine and feminine by saying in a falsetto: "la fenetre" and opening the window, then in a deep voice "le mur" and walked into the wall. The point was feminine things were dainty and you could interact with them easier than masculine things. He speaks about 5 languages fluently. He had the best stories about touring Europe and North Africa when he was young--actually, all his stories were hilarious. He could arm wrestle the high school boys and win, walk on his hands and do the flag off the doorframe.

February 27th Question of the Day

Furry, scaley or feathery friends - Show us a picture of your family member.  Past or current is fine.

People on the forums may remember Marmalade. She had also starred as the Sphinx in one of our Pathfinder podcasts.

Jill Tweedie, my History teacher for my last 3 years of secondary school. Only 5'3", but fierce enough to keep any class in order.

She didn't teach me mere facts. She taught me how to study, and then get what I had learnt down in a coherent form on paper. How to construct an argument so that you will convince your reader. (And thus how to demolish an opponents case.)

This made me a complete pain in the behind to my other teachers as I practised showing up the fallacies in whatever they were teaching, But it won me several debating prizes in my last year, and a rapt audience whenever I got up to speak.

I still miss this lad:

And my wife was so cut up at his passing that she refuses to consider a replacement.

Yeah, this photo was taken about 50 years ago.  Gotta provide some representation for T.W.I.T.

Quizzle for today, 25 February 2022:

Have you been locked down by weather this year?

I've missed work twice due to weather, snow and ice (though I wouldn't really say I missed it...). Friday my car was completely encased in ice from the freezing rain, roads too dangerous to attempt heading anywhere.

A man named Kirby Meiners. Taught my first physics class in high school. Not sure why he was my favorite, but I remember his name so that must mean something.

You all have seen Molly before, so here's a pic of Dixie, our elder Labrador who came to live with us when a breeder decided not to breed her (she is super sweet and loves being an indoor house companion):

And one of her with Molly:

I have a Cardinal or two that lurk in the backyard.

They are hard to spot.

This fluff-nugget:

…is Baylee. Baylee is 10? weeks old in this picture. She is a Golden Retriever + Poodle and the newest dog at my cousin’s house.

No, but we'll see how hurricane season treats us.

Hello GTKY peeps,

We currently do not have a quisitor lined up for the month of March or May.  If any of you would like to become a quisitor and take a month, please PM me, and I will get you added to the quisitor PM.

Also, I am sorry that I have been absent here of late (hence this message coming at the last minute) and will continue to be so through the spring as I have limited time for forum posting due to my Bones 6 sculpting workload.

Thanks,

Andy

To possible new folks, this does take a couple extra minutes each day, but is really quite simple. Make up a list of questions on ANY topic in advance then just add to the list as you think of things. Have your family and friends help you think of the questions. Go get a burger with the idea of getting their ideas. It is fun for everyone. Plus if you run late or need help we have it available.

28th: Last Question for February:

(Also still looking for a quistor for next month, feel free to join up!)

What dumb accomplishment are you most proud of?

Having the Post Descriptions changed for Tower Officers at a maximum security prison. "Don't shoot the dumpsters, they don't belong to us."
