Comet's tail turning people to dust? A zombie apocalypse... involving a horde of weirdly-posed, Thriller-dancing, generic zombie clones??? 😄 "This will come back to Bite them in the broccoli" is maybe one of the funniest things I've heard all month - I needed that! On 3/18/2022 at 1:51 PM, Chaoswolf said: ...I'm actually fairly impressed with the core preview so far. The zombies will come in handy for me, I DON'T actually have a whole lot of them. With a little bit of surgery, I'll have a horde of unique zombies. Also, since they're zombies a few bad cuts and slightly wonky limbs wont look bad. On 3/18/2022 at 1:57 PM, MoonKing said: Exactly. I've been working on making alts and doing head swaps and weapon swaps on duplicate minis I have, just to give them different looks and poses. In a worst case scenario, I'd suggest selling, trading, or gifting unwanted duplicate minis to anyone who isn't in to doing conversions on Bones minis. I mostly like the core set so far - I didn't precisely need more dwarves and wouldn't have chosen more, but so far it's dwarf- and gnome-heavy, and they're great sculpts for bands of those sorts of NPCs. Not a lot of flashy stuff so far, but useful enough for both PCs and GMs for tabletop gaming dwarf and gnome characters, and I'm not complaining. The same goes for the human and other adventurer types in the core set. (The gnomes and halflings, however, are as always something I'm really glad to see getting some attention!) The Thriller-dancing zombies are mostly harmless, and they can be kitbashed and modded with a little effort, but they are a bit of a letdown for filler "free bonus" figures - like others said, the twig-creatures (for example) might have made for nice, useful filler. For that matter, throwing a bunch of extra stirges, I bet, would have been a winner of a decision. For zombie purposes, some multipart zombie figures - interchangeable heads and arms and torsos - might have been a more popular choice, I bet. All the easier to mod and alt dupe-zombies with! Ah, well - not much enthusiasm for the zombies, but a little creative Bones-surgery should go a long way, and I think the rest of the core set looks great - really looking forward to the Swamp-Thing and other monsters, as well as the gnomes and halflings! Also, with that in mind, congratulations, @Maredudd - great to see persistence and dedication finally pay off! I was feeling kind of take-it-or-leave it on those characters myself, but in spite of the fuzzy preview pick, from what I can see, it looks like this will be a great mini, and now I'm excited about it, too! 🙂 2 hours ago, Bane Of Humanity said: Also giant ant?! Hopefully we see some soldiers and a queen.... If the preview render of the Kickstarter stretch-goal progress map is any indication, "Ant Infestation" is on the menu. Whether that means two or more identical giant ants like the preview, or a handful of specialized ants to build a colony with, remains to be seen, but it's hard to imagine an "ant infestation" consisting of one ant! 🙂 Speaking of the preview progress map, someone above beat me to it, but here again is what the text on the map says: For those whose eyes are as badly shot as mine, here's what a close zoom on that screenshot reveals (I'm sure there's a chance these prices/titles might change without warning before the Kickstarter launches): 30K Core Set 55K Green Griffin 1/5 80K Town Guard 105K Painters' Picks 130K Dawnseekers I 155K Undead 1/5 180K Dreadmere I 210K Blackmane Gnolls 240K Ant Infestation 270K Green Griffin 2/5 305K Sophies I 340K Ment-at-Arms 375K Brinewind I 410K Undead 2/5 Interestingly, I think most (if not all) of those items have been teased already - skeletal undead, for example, in one preview render... the town guard... several barmaid/barkeeper/waitress style Green Griffin Inn staff... the gnolls... an ant... That list, combined with the latest and already-revealed screenshots, seems to suggest that we've got at the very least a five-part undead/necromancy-themed expansion, and a five-part tavern-themed Green Griffin expansion (which is connected to the green griffon icon). We seem to have an darkreach themed story focusing on troglodytes and dark elves involved somehow, based on some of the zoomed-in text revealed in some of the screenshots, though it's unclear so far whether that is a darkreach expansion, or if these figures will be stretch-goals for the core set, or a series of add-ons. The troglodyte renders seems to confirm this darkreach running theme, though. I'm expecting the "Dawnseekers" to be part of that theme - no particular reason, just a feeling. I'm thinking the Bloodstone (darklands gnome?) golem is part of that theme, too, suggesting that the darkreach theme will be added to the core set as an unfolding story, as hinted in the zoomed-in text previews... the "Dawnseekers" might be a tribe of troglodytes (already previewed), or maybe dark elves? Just a wild guess! Perhaps not very notably, but interestingly, there doesn't seem to be a set icon that really screams "darkreach" - we haven't necessarily seen all the icons yet, so maybe it's still in development, or maybe it's covered by one of the revealed icons (like the core-set's "Mr. Bones"-like character, or that scale-and-coins icon, perhaps?) So, unless there's a darkreach expansion we haven't seen/recognized an icon for yet, I'm going to guess that we will see darkreach minis added to the core set as the Kickstarter story/adventure unfolds. I don't expect the Men-At-Arms to be a very mysterious reveal: if we don't see a solid set of Reaper's usual well-designed generic warriors, I'll be surprised: most (if not all) the preview Kickstarters have included such a group of warriors of some sort. We've got some interesting revisits on the list for some past Reaper expansions that proved quite popular: "Brinewind I" and "Dreadmere I". If "Dawnseekers" doesn't refer to any already-previewed figures (like my guess of some of the darkreach baddies), then that one seems a bit mysterious to me so far. Who might seek the dawn, if not creatures that have been bound in darkness? Undead, maybe? Undead hunters? Some sort of adventuring band? I don't know.... Then, we've got the "Sophies I" reference. Is this a set of multiple Sophies in different poses/costumes? A set of crew for "Sophie's Revenge"? A "Sophie and Friends" type stretch-goal for the core set, as in one of the previous expansions? And, "Painter's Picks"... have we got a selection of minis that painters might be especially pleased with? Or a selection of paints picked out for painters? Or are these the "painter-pokie" tools that we see from time to time, but Reaper never seems to have available in the online shop when I'm in the mood to buy one? 😉 Anyway, interesting that it seems like most of the items mentioned in the list seem to have been teased already, and most of the items in the preview core set seem to be updated or re-released versions of existing figures. On reflection, it makes sense that Reaper is teasing figures we'll see early in the Kickstarter, and updated/re-released figures make sense considering Reaper's push to get many of their Dungeon Dwellers and Reaper Legends minis "Bones-ified" this year! Ratmaster2000
All I know, if the undead expansion, doesn't have vampires and other varied undead (we already have zombies as bonuses in core) AND an Eddie inspired undead character (ooh maybe a diorama with him at an organ:) ) I will definitely not be pleased. And I hope the ants are the size of ants like from THEM!, that was an awesome movie (Does anyone remember "IT came from the desert"?). Also, have they shown any mini's that are original concepts, or has everything been pretty much metal or limited edition re-releases?
BigJon
I have a somewhat related question. I ordered my Green Griffon t-shirt and I also saw this shirt https://www.teepublic.com/t-shirt/23453173-iggy-and-tango-shipwrights which I think is hilarious, but I'm fairly new to reaper so I know nothing about those characters and I couldn't find minis for them. So if anyone has any info on them I would greatly appreciate it. I would love to add them to my Brinewind campaign when it starts. Also does anyone know anything about how I could acquire Landlubbers guide to Brinewind, it's been sold out for a while. I'm a sucker for settings books and I'm really loving the Brinewind Asthetic. https://www.reapermini.com/search/landlubber/latest/25011

I learned after the first two that if there's a significant number of models or must-haves in an expansion, despite some figures you don't want, just go ahead and get it. You'll be waiting a year past fulfillment for anything to hit the store, if it makes it at all. 14 hours ago, YronimosW said: The Thriller-dancing zombies are mostly harmless, and they can be kitbashed and modded with a little effort, but they are a bit of a letdown for filler "free bonus" figures - like others said, the twig-creatures (for example) might have made for nice, useful filler. But when you need them you need a lot of them. I'd rather have seen more of Bob Ridolfi's Grave Kings or Rune Wights make a 2nd appearance. It's looking like we have: Core Green Griffin (5 reveals) Dawnseekers (is this a Reapercon faction?) Undead (5 reveals) Dreadmere Sophies Brinewind I'm guessing things like Town Guard and Ants are going to be Options or Add-Ons. I hope there is a NEW Sophie sculpt. Painter's Picks I expect to be something like busts or display pieces. Also there was a comment about new paint, but no more new learn-to-paint kits. 46 minutes ago, BigJon said: Also does anyone know anything about how I could acquire Landlubbers guide to Brinewind, it's been sold out for a while. The Salamanders, the Fire Newts, the Skeletons, the Gnomes, the Ants, the coins, the Shambling Mound, etc are new minis with no previous release. Several are resculpts of older metal sculpts rather than straight transitions to Bones: The Adventurers, Lardgulp, the Dwarf Rat Catcher.

ced1106
8 hours ago, Inarah said: Yeah, zombies aren't exciting, but neither were the goblins or knolls, or whatever they put in the last few projects. Main difference between zombies and the other figures, though, is that zombies are *much* more commonly made. I mean, CMON and Zombicide and KS. Then there's Mantic's Undead sets, and other retail zombie figure sets. Northstar Miniatures wisely avoided a skeleton and zombie figure set by including them both in their cultists set. Reaper's goblins are uncommon, in that they have variety: Pathfinder balloon-head goblins, old-school scrawny goblins, etc. These goblin sculpts are different from even CMON's Massive Darkness goblins, so you can have different tribes of goblins (who all hate each other). Gnolls, on the other hard, are uncommon humanoids in D&D, and they're *very* difficult to find from other retailers. Same goes for bugbears and hobgoblins. OTOH, Orcs (and skeletons) are as common as zombies, and, thankfully, they're not in the Core VI set and were an optional buy (Orcapocalypse?) in a previous Bones KS. With humanoids, you can distinguish them by weapons and shields, as well as spellcasting abilities. Zombies don't have such distinction, although there are zombies of different time periods.
