I found one prior catoblepas mini (http://www.miniatures-workshop.com/lostminiswiki/index.php?title=Image:Rp-11-422a.jpg).  I suspect Reaper's might have been the second one ever, though.

Pathfinder Battles has had one for years. I’m not a fan of it, but then I wasn’t a fan of the Bones 5 one, either.

ohh i like that larger scorpion. Would look nice with my mierce one. (ie. the very big one with these smaller ones).

Yeah, i forgot about the Ral pArtha Catoblepas .

but you get the idea. orcs, characters, minotaurs, basic undead are so ... everywhere.  but i guess if you want to attract more newer ppl that makes sense.

I really like the wolves and warg. I hope for more monsters and wonderful creatures! I feel people are really underestimating the quality of the wolves.

If we follow the description of Pliny the Elder as given in The Natural History:

Quote

the catoblepas; an animal of moderate size, and in other respects sluggish in the movement of the rest of its limbs; its head is remarkably heavy, and it only carries it with the greatest difficulty, being always bent down towards the earth. Were it not for this circumstance, it would prove the destruction of the human race; for all who behold its eyes, fall dead upon the spot.

We can easily use any single head down wildebeest or oxen type creature. When I was looking at Nolzurs minis today, I noticed Oxen and realised that due to the head sculpt and posture they reminded me of the wikipedia page picture of the catoblepas (Jan Jonston, Historia naturalis de quadrupedibus, Amsterdam 1614). 😁

Reading The Natural History by Pliny the Elder is really interesting. The Basilisk is no more than 12 fingers in length (Google assures me that this is about 25cm) and a snake that moves by being upright in its middle.

Psst… you misquoted and attributed someone else’s words to me. 😉

I’m looking forward to Hakir. Hope I’m impressed.

Here’s hoping this thing blows up massively in the last 48 hours.

Thanks. Not sure how exactly that happened.

I am looking forward to seeing more of the expansions. So far the teaser are quite nice and interesting since they show non human minis. Currently I am planning on getting the core and Briarwood. Dungeon Dwellers looks nice with the wyverns and Hakir seems to have a nice Anubis style giant and the scorpions look fun to paint.

Oh, wow. A sci-fi train like in Boba Fett would be an extremely cool encounter!  I’d be up for that!

I really can't see Reaper committing to something as complicated as a train.  It seemed they sort of regretted the amount of work involved with the pirate ship.  Not bringing it to retail.  Needing to manufacture an extra piece to keep it from sagging (and then not using that piece after all). And on top of that, people still weren't satisfied with all the decks being playable leading to a lot of conversion.

If they offered a train people would complain about needing seated passengers, or the seats not accommodating round-bases, or there not being enough space to play inside it, or it being too wide to be realistic.  Or there not being enough rails.  Or...

I am fully prepared to eat my words.  As I never would have thought they'd actually deliver on the pirate ship either.

Reaper Jon on the KS page talking about “Choo choo”?! What could it mean?

I hate to be the downer, but I wouldn't read too much into that.

I think he was making reference to the hype train.
