Bones 6 Enthusiasm and Commentary

I don't particularly care if the lighthouse/dragon is 9inches or 12inches or whatnot. Just a general order of magnitude is sufficient. Is it Big, or BIG? Argent from Bones IV had to change from plan, but was still plenty BIG as BIG DRAGON. Cool figures at decent price? Yeah that's not going to be what I fuss over. If it was a promise of a 12inch dragon and get a 2inch dragon, yeah okay perhaps. But.... meh. A dragon that can swallow a player can be in a range of Big sizes. A lighthouse that adventurers can go up can be in a range of sizes.

I’m not a DM yet, so I don’t know if I need a big lighthouse, but it’s a great flexible piece. Not a bad price either.
I’m really happy with the recent additions to the core, like the newts and the raptorkin. As it’s my first KS, I’m happy to see so many cool minis get added to the core. I’ll have my very first pile of shame!

Absolutely your prerogative. I don't agree. I value the money I earn enough that the value of things I choose to spend it on are carefully considered, my personal valuation of something is based on what I'm told I'm buying, and if that thing does not live up to expectations at a later date due to artistic interpretation or the demands of manufacture then I will make my feelings about it known, and those feelings will color my future expectations and valuations.

Enjoy it! A pile of shame is a totem of pride. Bury yourself under it gleefully.

That hasn't been my experience in the last two Bones Kickstarters, though I do a little trading.

I have been surprised both by how hard it can be to get Reaper Bones KS on eBay.de yet how little folks will pay when we put Reaper Bones KS pieces we do not want on eBay.de. Maybe it is the German market compared to the US and UK markets but for example I have not found the Reaper Bones V Chronoscope set on eBay.com, .uk or .de so far.  And yet we got a big Reaper Bones IV bundle, including the Stygian barge (which I have seen only a couple of times on the various different ebay sites) for a remarkably low price second hand.

The lighthouse is brilliant and looks like it may push me into asking Mrs. GG to reconsider our pledge goals for this KS. It is competing with our big budgeting for Dwarven Forge Wildlands going to retail scheduled for late May/early June as well as various other smaller projects. The Galladoria KS has already been sidelined for us thanks to these budgeting issues.

Waffling on if I should get the lighthouse. We would never use it

If the brazier will be removable, it should work quite well as a watch tower, or even some sort of hermit's abode.
Barring that it could be a lighthouse in a park of some sort of an aristocrat who had an unfulfilled dream of being a sea captain.
There is some potential of using it outside of a seaside campaign.

And the walrus can be put on a flight base, and with a little knife-work, add some hard-mount points to the shoulders for a grenade launcher and a minigun, then just slap on the HUD visor and...

what?

I wanted to say that we are missing giants in this kickstarter, until I realised we are missing giants as add-ons since all the giants are currently in the expansions. The skeleton giant and Egyptian gods. It does seem like we are missing some medium sized add-ons this kickstarter. We have human sized groups, some nice encounters and two large add-ons. Which is interesting as that was what I remember people being interested in last couple kickstarters. Furthermore, the core set really lacks the same amount of larger scaled figures. Sure it has a decent amount of medium sized monster but compared to gaunt in Bones 4 and the zombie giant + dragons in Bones 5 it seems a little more targeted at smaller figures.

The recent updates:

The drake looks really nice and now when I can actually see the tail it looks quite good. Especially the back scales.

I like what they did with the flying carpet, thought I fear bones material warpage may cause issue.

Also the teaser from the latest updated:

A rattle snake based snake woman/man! (intuition pushes towards woman) For some reason it makes me think they will be in the Hakir expansion

what?

A walrus does not need a flight base or minigun to be terrifying.

Blubber tusks and spears

Out of everything they have put out to date the drake is the one thing other than stirges that has caught my eye.

We will start adding Extras from the Core Set tomorrow, notably:

Wolf Pack

Mudmen

Town Guard

Honeythorn Lancers

Well, that's good news. I'm still hoping for more of a core set split up, but this is a good start.
