I do so hope this gal shows up somehow somewhere!!
Cyradis
13 hours ago, Inarah said: I think that's become apparent to many of us this month. Honestly, it isn't due to this KS for me. *I* changed more than Reaper did. Their KS may have gone a bit differently than others, but it is still for their style of products: tabletop gaming figures. They are good at it, and always have been. This Kickstarter really emphasized that as a company goal. A bunch of adventurers are more likely to end up on tabletops than yet another dragon. They have SO MANY dragons. It is great, but to an extent, how many are worth it for them to produce at a time? Example for me and preference with a comparison: Evilhalfling stated he likes painting 75mm Bones figures like the Hakir figures, which is great! The more I paint larger scale figures, in a way, the *less* I want to paint the Bones material. I'd be using them for practicing say "just the face" as a cheap trial instead of actually painting the whole thing. They simply don't have a resolution that I find pleasing to paint at that scale nowadays, and the cartoony style is less often what I do now. And I'm getting braver at just putting the brush to my nice resin figures, because frankly, I don't have *time* to practice just for practice's sake. If I hear folks on the painting Discord channels looking for practice pieces cheap, I definitely refer them to Bones (and wish the Bones V busts were more available for this purpose). Minsky and Nunae also hit on good points: Reaper has to keep competitive. That does mean updating and/or retiring models, especially true of the older Bones generations. If the sculpt is well liked but the model detail just isn't getting it sales, it is time to update it. These aren't like metal figures where the molds themselves are more simple to make - they take a big order to get them from China. A Bones model is more of a commitment to production/discontinuation than a metal one which can be more on-demand. For the KS Exclusives, I do like Nunae's idea of making an "Unlikely to Hit Retail" label to manage expectations. What am I looking at getting later in the PM? Only in for Briarwood initially (sorry all) Later: Maybe Green Griffon. Owlbears Chonky Dragon New Paints Lighthouse Lancers Anniversary Dragon *maybe* Rotstump *maybe* Storm Giant
Great Khan Artist
I pledged $200 or $250 this round, which is about what I pledged last time. I know I'm not the Core Set target audience, but I pledged early to unlock some of the other stuff. What I'm in for right now: Hakir: I mean, how could I not? It's like this set was made for me. I'd love for them to break it up so I can buy additional mummies and scorpions. It's true that I make my own terrain out of plaster, but having someting that travels well is a plus. Gnolls: I will likely get $60 worth of these. My current models are official "Frostgrave Gnolls", which are certainly fun models to build and paint, but they're a bit small. My main setting is the desert, and Frostgrave/ RoSD uses piles of these guys. I love the sculpts and love that they are extras and I can buy as many as I want. Sold! Dungeon Denizens: I like monsters. Most of these I will be able to use in my games. I will mail the flumph to @Pezler the Polychromatic for his growing army. So many of these compliment minis I already have, like the yeti and the trolls. I love those troll sculpts and am collecting the whole set. Storm Giantess: The counterpart to the male in the last set. I also have a lot of Greek models, so she will fit in nicely. The latest Frostgrave supplement deals with giants and vampires, so a nice purchase. Phoenix Egg: I have the Arabian Adventurers boxed set and plan on making them into a wizard's band for Sandgrave, so these guys will be a nice addition. Chunky Dragon: I really like her. She's just the right size for a couple Stargrave scenarios. I'm also a big woman, so I like that she is a robust girl. Lighthouse: I'm a sucker for terrain. I will use it in Ghost Archipelego. Mudmen: I've been looking for something to use as lava men for a while now. These will work nicely. I'll probaly buy a couple sets. Slaughter Pigs: If they end up listing this encounter, it's a must-buy for me. I work in the pork industry, 'nuff said. Maybes: 30th Dragon: A neat model. I don't know what I would ever do with it except display it. It's also a great price. Ants: Could be fun to use in Ghost Archipelego. Newts: Really fun little sculpts. Adding if budget allows. Rotstump Bog: I especially like the troll and bonesnapper. A fun set. Owlbears: I don't actually own any owlbears. I like it, but it doesn't really fit my games. 9
msfnc
Confession time: I’m bad at painting. I’m slow, and I have a lot of trouble getting motivated to start. But I love minis. And I love gaming. I have more minis than I will ever be able to paint, and lots of minis end up on my table unpainted. Because I game. A lot. I run games for an after-school program. I run games at home for my own kid’s group. I run games one-on-one with my youngest son. I run games for myself and my friends. I run a game for my wife and another group. This kind of ks campaign is exactly what I need. Tons of disparate models. Lots of PCs/NPCs. Because who knows what these jokers are going to want on the table? Who knows what I’m going to need? So I collect every possible option. Sometimes, life permitting, I’ll paint up PCs or an important bad guy or monster. But most of the time I’m pulling gray minis from a box 15 minutes before the dice drop. All that to say, I have no complaints whatsoever about this Kickstarter. I didn’t know what I wanted, and Reaper gave it to me exactly.

Genuinely curious, couldn’t you just have backed the KS for that alone? And anyone will be able to join the Pledge Manager as a late backer for a minor increase later. In general it's on principal (I hate seeing a snazzy model only to discover I can't get it because I wasn't signed up to this specific thing years ago, same reason I dislike con exclusives). In this case though it was more of a timing issue, I'd already decided to get what I wanted when it hits retail, so I wasn't paying much attention to the Kickstarter anymore and it slipped by me. I'll feel a bit silly late pledging for just the one thing, so hopefully Reaper puts some tempting stuff in the pledge manager.

Especially since there was a lack of Human ninjas. I still bought and enjoyed the Daiymo expansion 🙂 AJ PS anyone want some Free Dino Ninjas??? Back in the day, Games Workshop made some great Ninja. I also remember a Ral Partha boxed set of Ninja. More recently, Paizo had a ninja encounter pack with like 3 ninja, metal, in it. They were fun and quick paint jobs.

I hate finding something later on say Marvel United at retail, seeing hey these are actually pretty cool looking & then finding out a bunch of characters that were made are exclusive figures that you can't get anywhere but KS or whenever CMoN does anther Marvel United KS (see Xmen). It's the same for Zombicide. I've played it with the common characters & I've played it with the celebs & the celebs are funny (FAT Steven Seagal for the win!) but you can't get those unless you go & find sellers selling them in the aftermarket due to they are KS exclusives.

Had to have that terrain! And the 30th dragon! Been wanting to paint a dragon for some time now (last one I did was a Ral Partha one back in 1978) and I may add the owlbear set during the manager phase. Thanks for the photos @Chaoswolf, that cemented me getting the Hakir set!

Agreed entirely i hate finding some cool figure and think 'oh wow that's neat!' and then see that it's either not available anymore, or available at a super inflated price because it was a 'exclusive' i had a similar situation with a really cute Tiamat funko pop, only to find out it was a con exclusive from a year or two ago and its now so incredibly expensive
Blip
This was my first Bones KS, and I'm in for $230! I'm really excited for the huge amount of amazing dungeon critters on offer. The big wins for me are: Sullenhall - Giant Skeleton, huge array of undead that all fit well together Denizens - Norkers are adorable, the Trolls also ride that line between looking goofy and intimidating, Giant Slug, Wyverns, Orcs. There's a lot from this set I'm stoked for. Ragged Wound Orcs - I wasn't originally planning to get these, but with the ones from Denizens already there, these fill out the ranks nicely Rotstump Bog - I love the npc in peril, and the goblins will go well with the Orcs as minions etc. Guards, Wolves, Mudmen, Newts - All super versatile, beautiful, minis that will get tons of use. Chaarondar - has lots of character, and looks equal parts intelligent and rampaging monster I'm wavering on: 30th Dragon - FOMO is hitting me hard here. It looks amazing and epic, but I'm struggling to think of situations to use such a huge mini in play. It's an epic finale boss fight, but then what? I might skip this in favor of Gnolls + the Owlbear encounter Core Set - Most of the things I really want I can get from the bonus sets and I can't justify spending an extra $77 to get the few outliers. Still, I'm really going to miss the Skeletal Houndsman and Lardgulp.

He is huge, massive, but hard of hearing and sight and spends all his time in his treasure tended to by goblins He even traded all his gold away for copper, and makes the goblins paint each copper coin gold. More treasure that way, see The party were meant to avoid him, which was easier because he was hard of hearing and sight. But their faces when he was dropped on the table! bearsman6
So, as a KS newbie looking to spend several hundred on this pledge manager, what can I expect for shipping costs? Guss I'm trying to budget better. I'm definitely in for Core, 2 expansions, and at least 3 add-ons. Just wondering if any vets have insight, because the stuff at the bottom of the KS page just confused me lol
