So, as a KS newbie looking to spend several hundred on this pledge manager, what can I expect for shipping costs? Guss I'm trying to budget better.

I'm definitely in for Core, 2 expansions, and at least 3 add-ons. Just wondering if any vets have insight, because the stuff at the bottom of the KS page just confused me lol

Unless it's changed You'll get charged for each pledge manager transaction, and will see stuff in the cart. Would be like the pledge calculator. Taxes on import more than shipping. I think it was 60/30 for me last time ( 3 expansions + lots of add-ons).

I ended up at the $547 for this one.  I like a few things, but I too was generally underwhelmed and disappointed this time.

CORE & EXPANSIONS
Core Set:  Not really disappointed in this but not really excited either, a few things I like, Werebear is cool, ethnic adventures, Catalina and Hugo the dog, I was always a fan of the old 3 stage characters so the barbarians look ok, most of the other adventures are cool enough but just what reaper does they are nothing special (but I like some) I was surprised how much the Gnomes have grew on me and I think they will be fun to paint.  The rest of the core set is Ok

Green Griffin: Got it, because I like Taverns have a bunch already.  This set was pretty average I was hoping they would have done something different or something that every other set has not done already, but nope just a run of the mill Tavern. Missed an opportunity and the mark on this

Sullenhall:   I got it for the terrain pieces and the giant skeleton. The rest are ok can always use skeleton knights and the rest (not so much vampires) and I wish they would not sculpt things onto the base like with Claudia.  Is the set exciting…no, can it be used…for the most part, yes

Briarwood: Got it.  Little fairies are cute not really useful but cute.  The big fairy dragon should be fun to paint.  Bee people are at least different they rest…meh

Denizens: Got it.  Like the filth beast, yeti, trolls the rest are just normal dungeon fodder again nothing really exciting.

Hakir: Got it.  I have lots of Egyptian figure from another company so I wanted tis for the scenery and its ok, some nice monsters and adventures. The scarab folk are different can’t really tell from the drawing

OPTIONS

Blackmane Gnolls: nope

Men-at-arms: Nope

Orcs: Nope

Chaarondar: Got it to add to my dragons.

Owlbears:  Love the owlbears, Dwarf and the baby ones. This was a easy one for me

Hellborn: Nope

Bugbears: Don’t have many of these so yes got this.

Anniversary Dragon:   yep love my dragons

Phoenix Egg: Yes thought it was interesting

Lizardfolk: Nope

Lighthouse: Only got it because everyone was clamoring for it, not really a lighthouse more of a beacon but it seemed nice enough. I liked the walrus

Storm Giant: nope

Rotstump: I really just want the fallen hero piece, so not sure that came up after the end so I have timr to ponder.

Any chibis: Not really interested.

Any paints: can always use paint

EXTRAS

Extra Ants:  No

Extra Townguard:  No

Extra Mudmen:  No

Extra Wolves:  No

Extra Lancers:  No

Extra Newts:  No

I won't type up my views because everyone is sick of them

But I'll say what I like about the things I got:

Briarwood: got it mostly for the Shimmerscale, alicorn and fairy dragons. The bees will be interesting to paint. Not really interested in the rest

30th anniversary dragon: while I DO prefer the concept art more, the render looks alright, especially with the added propatagium I campaigned for. I do wish dragons werent given such HUGE long tails sometimes but I'll work with it

Owlbear: super cute little family. Will make a nice diorama..might get two, paint one up as snowy owls and one as great horned owls

and that's it. I MIGHT get the lighthouse, base on how decent the render looks

I will grab the Nightmare from core and the Wyverns from DD if they ever reach retail

I just wish Mrs. GG and I could afford all the things I like from this Kickstarter. Maybe I am fortunate enough to be part of the target group… except for not having enough disposable income that is.

My feelings about this KS are best summed up with a picture…

Kind of hard to say. Unlike previous Bones kickstarters, we won't really know what the shipping price will be until they're ready to ship your stuff specifically. Though apparently, we'll be getting a couple of options to choose from, if available.

Where do you live?

EDIT: nvm - looks like others answered it? But living in the US vs. elsewhere will definitely have an impact on total shipping (including VAT for Europe, etc.)

The more I look at Hakir the more it calls to me...

The amount of large figures is what is really interesting and the designs of the scarab folk.

I am getting more and more tempted to forget the core set (which I like) and change it with two expansions. Mostly because the expansions have a more monsters.

Currently my preferences go something like this:

Will get:

  • Briarwood: I always want fairies and I am prepared to put money were my mouth is. Plus even the non fairy sculpts are whimsical.
  • Anniversary Dragon, with the wings fixed and the rider added it interest me a lot more than when it was first shown.

Making a choice between these

  • Core set: I do love some of the figures inside it
  • Sullenhall: I already have an unplanned undead army. The giant skeleton and necromancer will be nice additions. The terrain can work anywhere and is nice.
  • Denizens of the Dungeon: The wyverns (I have blacksting!), skeletal dogs and the trolls. Plus a lot of other medium sized sculpts.
  • Hakir: At first it looked Meh. Until I reminded myself that the most of the figures are 75mm... Then the set went up a lot in value. Plus undead Egyptians. Ahh Anubis leading a pack of Dark Alliance Anubises would be fun.
  • Wolfpack + Bee Lancers: if I don't get the core this is in.

Interested but the other options are better

  • Egg of the Phoenix: This encounter has a really good selection of medium figures. But salamanders aren't something that I am that interested in
  • Lighthouse: Sullenhall has more terrain and figures for a slightly increased price. Will need to see the the final sculpt and the walrus for final decision.

Since I don't have a huge pile of miniatures (a few hundred I would guess, but I haven't counted), I do have disposable income, and I love to paint minis, maybe I am part of the target audience?  I'm not sure.  I do like most of what I see, and I have the added bonus that shipping costs should not be too bad (even if Texas were to secede from the U.S., I would still be in the same country, just a couple hundred miles down the road from Reaper).  I plan to get the core set and four expansions (Hakir just doesn't offer enough that I would actually use in a game to make it worth the $50).  I'll get more than a few extras too.  I have no idea how I will paint that anniversary dragon since I have never painted anything like it before, but I'll find some way.  Then I need to devise a way to get him on the table, to the chagrin of the PCs...

I pledged enough to get the Core Set and all the Expansions with the Anniversary Dragon, the Lighthouse and the Owlbear set.

I know that my problem will be how long the pledge manager stays open.  It will be the same problem I had with Bones 5.  I've bought all the big stuff and it is payday and i will just get a Phoenix Egg set and some Ants.  It's only a couple extra bucks.....next payday....I'm just going to get some Bugbears and an extra set of Lancers......6 months and 12 paychecks later, I have a 65 pound box of little plastic people show up and my door and I try explaining to my wife....honestly I only bought a few things, while holding 3 lighthouses and large army of gnolls.

I think I might have a problem 🙂

I'm a little surprised at the harshness of criticisms in the run downs.

I get that not everything is for everybody (some of this isn't for me), but they're trying to do something for everybody. they unlocked a ton of extra stuf that we didn't earn,  They adjusted on the fly, listened to comments.

Those that say 3d printing is a direct option instead of these (whether you wanted hands sculpted models instead of digital models, or just for variety or price) please be acutely aware that 3d printing is not cheaper nor easier than mass production. It needs a lot more work after the print to sand/fill/clean than injected/cast parts, is much more fragile, You need galons of IPA, a wash and cure station, ways to clean/decant it, possibly a chemical smoothing (like an acetone vapor bath) or putty fill and sand to get rid of lines. Its messy, time intensive, non recyclable. Even if i owned a resin printer, i would still be interested in professionally produced minis.

I'm happy to part of a mostly positive community. I wish I could have been unrelentingly excited for this kickstarter without feeling bad that it wasn't a big as past ones that i've missed.(though my pocketbook probably appreciates it being smaller 😉 ).

While I understand that you’re referring to isopropyl alcohol, the phrase “3D printing requires gallons of IPA” makes me chuckle from up here in PNW über-hopped beervana.

There are much worse problems to have.

I'm glad I have some time to think about how to explain the sheer volume of miniatures that will be arriving in 18-24 months.  She already thinks I have too many miniatures...

I can't tell you what I'm getting,  cause I haven't decided myself yet. I have enough for 2 cores and a lighthouse invested, but that's not what the final breakdown will be.

Same. I have some money in the Pledge Manager to spend and I know enough about how Reaper has done past (additional) unlocks to just wait to see how things look a month before they close the PM out. That might not help their decision-making but it saves me a lot of decision-making when they add more.
