I'm fairly confident we'll see the wyvern and the nightmare at retail. If they'll stay in stock for longer than a hot second is a different question, but they don't seem to be the kinds of miniatures Reaper might run into trouble with. They're not so large as to need special packaging and they don't seem particularly fiddely/difficult to cast either.

i would think so, but some of the things i'd have thought would be at retail from bones 4 that shouldn't be trouble aren't here yet either,

or the bones 4 raptor pack that hasn't been restocked for 2 years

we'll see though. I can live without them if they don't come to retail, i just want them to paint after all, not really game

While I understand that you’re referring to isopropyl alcohol, the phrase “3D printing requires gallons of IPA” makes me chuckle from up here in PNW über-hopped beervana.

Well if you have lots of failed prints, it might take a few pints of that too

I wasn't very engaged with Bones 6, but that was more for life reasons (having an actual job really cuts into one's free time  ). I tossed in enough to cover a Core Set and checked on the project every now and again, but didn't really look in depth to see what was offered (though I did bump my pledge up a bit near the end).

Things I'm excited about (bold for Super Excited):

RODERIC AND GLITTER  I've wanted these two ever since Bones 1, I'm so happy!

Town Guard (it doesn't matter how many generic guards we have, it's never enough)

Green Griffon expansion (especially the bar, I can definitely say that will get LOTS of use)

Shadows of Sullenhall expansion, sort of (our undead campaign recently finished, so I will have to think about this one)

New MSP Colors

30th Anniversary dragon (super excited about this one, it's a beautiful sculpt PLUS there's a rider!)

Legendary Tales - Egg of the Phoenix (especially if the flying carpet is separate from the rider mini)

Legendary Tales - Blacktallow lighthouse (big scenery gets used a surprising amount in our games, this will be a good addition)

Extra Town Guard (again, we can never have too many guards  )

If I were to only get the things I'm Super Excited about (plus the Core since it's always amazing value), it would be roughly $275, which would be quite conservative compared to the rest of the Bones Kickstarters I've backed.

I DESIRE about half of what's on offer, I WANT one of everything, but in the end I will probably end up settling around $300, since I can't properly justify any more than that. Not only do we have far more expenses now than we ever have before (huzzah for both the joys and the pain of home ownership), I have literally thousands of minis and (I shall say this quietly) am starting to feel a bit saturated with standard useful gaming minis. So, at this point I'm really focusing more on filling gaps (though one can never have too many dragons  ).

Huzzah!

The render they showed has the figure separate.  But the carpet has a 1" hole in it to accommodate it.

Absolutely excellent way to set this up for tabletop use. Less pretty if you wanted to make a diorama with it. But the goal is tabletop play, and it will be just right for the purpose 🙂

Not in the slightest

No matter how much the wyverns cost at retail, they are NOT going to be $25 a piece

And the nightmare is not going to be a $125 miniature

I'm not sure why you think they will be even remotely comparable

If I have 0 need and 0 want for 99% of the miniatures in the core / DD expansion why on earth would I drop $175 for the 3 minis i DO want?

And IF the wyverns do end up retailing for $25? Then I won't buy them because that price is outrageous for something that size, simple as that

My bad, I thought you were saying the nightmare and wyverns were in the same expansion pack.

In terms of restocks, i suspect this is part of the problem with the China boat issue.  You can't get a repack of 'one' figure.  I was waiting for the ogres for months before they finally came in.  Might've been longer.  And these were sold out at the local level first before I checked Reaper so who knows what those stock outs are doing to sales averages.  "Wow, we sold a lot of this guy.  Yeah, but then none for six months.  Did we have invnetory for those six months?  No?"

A little green stuff (or your gap filler of choice), and you're all set for diorama use, too.

I wonder if one could paint one of the 1" bases the same as the carpet, and use that to fill the gap when nobody is standing on it.  It would probably still leave an unsightly circle, but at least it would be removable.

I was wondering the same thing - in fact, I'm hoping that the hole is sized for the standard 1"RPG base, which would make the carpet compatible with a large portion of my miniature colleciton.

As for leaving an "unsightly circle", incorporating the circle into the design on the rug could minimize that:

I've tried to pick expansions/mini's based on game expectations (Double Lost Valley says Hi!) .... only to have the game in question fizzle before delivery.  It's HARD to predict that far into the future.

I'm older, wiser, and more experienced at predicting what I'll need.  I'm going to need one of everything.

<cough>

In all seriousness, this is the first Kickstarter we've backed that ... that might just (almost) happen.  This is largely due to the much smaller size of an "All In".  I've also gone "I need a thingeramaber for this weekend's game" and with much searching into the various boxes and bins, come up with the PERFECT figure ... that I hadn't looked at twice during the actual Kickstarter campaign.

We've also had more than a few times mid campaign where we've gone "That's perfect, guaranteed to get!"  ... and not get it, because we liked something else MORE.

I REALLY like the Men-At-Arms pack, but ... do not think we'll be getting them, because our collection fills that niche too well.  There are a handful of other things that we might pass on, due to having 'enough' of that type.  Maybe. We'll see?  Budgeting is HARD, and EVERYTHING is getting more expensive by the second.

::o:

Step 1: Add this set to my pledge

Step 2: Start an RPG campaign

Step 3: Keep the game running at least until Bones 6 delivers

Step 4: Find any excuse to use this mini in the campaign, as often as possible. The actual excuse is irrelevant

Step 5: ???

Step 6: Profit!

Ever since we started backing Bones Kickstarters, in every group we've gamed with, there will be at least one occurrence, without fail, of a player exclaiming in tones of wondering awe "Wow...you really DO have a mini for everything...." as I pull out some weirdly specific mini that's totally perfect for the situation.

I love this idea in principle.  There is just one problem: I am not even remotely close to being a good enough artist to pull that off.  I can mostly paint within the lines, I just can't draw the lines myself, so anything fancier than solid colors is a stretch for me.

EDIT: I forgot to add that they announced that it would be a standard 1" base.  You can see that bit of information (with the pictures) here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/reaperbones5/bones-6-tales-from-the-green-griffin/posts/3492700.

I would definitely have to use a decal to get the kind of detail shown. At the size of the rug it shouldn't be too hard to print out.

In my experience, if there's a magic carpet in the vicinity, at least one of my players are going to stand on it... regardless of whatever else may be happening.
