I love this idea in principle.  There is just one problem: I am not even remotely close to being a good enough artist to pull that off.  I can mostly paint within the lines, I just can't draw the lines myself, so anything fancier than solid colors is a stretch for me.

I'm not good enough to duplicate that pattern to a display quality level. But I've learned that from the typical tabletop distance, your eye/brain can render even rough brushwork in a pleasing manner if you choose the right colors and lay out simple patterns.  I would do the above pattern by using a 3-4 contrasting paint colors and layering them as rectangles, then the center circle, and finally dots in a pattern on top.  And I can't even paint eyes,

Plus, you have 18-24 months to get to that level. :poke:

More than that, if I don't paint this set first!  Probably well over two years.  I also have to overcome the problem of a lack of artistic talent.  I'll figure it out.

I just saw the pigmen way back in thread. Looks like they didnt get officially revealed. Anything they were associated with? I assume It was from Twitch, whicu wouos explain me completely missing it.

One of the Legendary Tales that didn't get reached, that involved the Slaughterwaulers that got mistaken for Slaughter Walruses.

So that's what people were talking about. I would've  been interested in seeing more.

How many sets did they add through the Pledge Manager last time?  I figure they will release more Legendary Tales that way, especially if they have already paid for the sculpts.  I'm still hoping for the Deep Ones.

I imagine it's the molds that are more at issue and depends on pledge manager spending.

I think that those fine point Sharpie markers would do well for putting a pattern on the flying carpet.

Even better yet would be Micron Pens. Thou, I think those are only in black ink. I could be wrong on that.

I bet we'll see them in PM. Reaper generally doesn't reveal something during a KS, then not offer it in that KS. Now they did reveal the Murder Hornet & beefolk in '20 & they appeared in this KS, but that was cause there wasn't any KS going on, besides Bones 5, which was closed for new ideas.

I recall it was around 9 or 10? They were small sets like the henchwomen & a dragonslayer encounter (small to medium dragon & 3 or 4 medium size figures) were among. I think they also revealed Rauthuros (the 4 armed winged devil) during that as well or something. Who knows what this PM will give us thou, as there have been some changes in 6 that weren't in previous KS from them.

They come in a full rainbow of colours and nib sizes.

They also would not be my first choice; unless you have a way to spray your sealer. Using brush-on sealer smears the ink.

I'd use a fine brush; and I might even get wild and use stamps, if I could get any flexible enough. I'm not quite good enough to freehand a Turkish carpet pattern... ^^;

You could try water slide decal paper, since it is nice and flat, so no stamp flexibility would be required. Either print with the stamps (i assume you mean rubber stamps and ink pads, and not actual stamps like postage stamps.....though that could work using various parts of the stamp for decoupaging (I think that is how to spell it...esentially like sticking things in a scrap book) or use a computer printer (i think colour laser prints aren't affected by water (not actually tried), though ink jets might be a problem if the ink runs in water, maybe seal the surface after printing.)

Talking about stamps, I wonder how a gel press would work. Or for that matter water marbling? Since certain rugs have geometric patterns marbling could be interesting.

Let’s not forget the legendary middle finger spell effect. I recently inked it, and its brethren spell effects and I’m quite eager to use it for my tiefling sorcerer.

Ok, dust has settled. The things I can't live without / wouldn't forgive myself for missing in this KS:

Norker on a Porker (Norker warboss denizens)

new bathalian sculpt (denizens)

Demilich (denizens, hasn't gotten enough love, gone under the radar)

Roderic and glitter (core set)

Mummy queen's cat (hakir)

all the mummies and adventurer PCs in Hakir

hugo the dog (core set, dredmere 1)

skeletal hound master (core)

extra skeletal hounds (denizens)

every single thing in briarwood (cept maybe the arborial defender). every single one.

Kyle the anniversary dragon. going to paint him green (i have an adult red). I think the ear frills fit green well.

lizard folk

Things i'll pick up at retail: sullenhall necromancer, vorlaka elder. greyhawk the bitty griffin. one of the hellborn (I was excited until i realized how little 2 of the ladies were wearing).

Things i'll pick up at retail because this KS inspired me: familiars 1 (bat and faerie dragon), glitterwing sylph, andromedan queen (use a fairy court), sir garrick forscale

I thought i'd be a more excited about hakir, but i'm not huge on terrain or big 75mm humanoids (but I do know good painters are going to love them). I thought i'd be more excited about addons, and I want the men-at-arms for the novelty but can't justify it, and the gnolls, and the salamanders but again theres too much i want and gotta trim somewhere. I didn't realize how much i needed lizardfolk until i saw them and thought about it. I'm using some prepainted pathfinder xulgath, so not ideal). I need some sahuagin, so was really stoked for the deepones encounter. Hope we get some extras in the PM.

I spent a good bit of time over the pandemic trying to fill in my collection, and i have the major iconic monsters (is 9 beholder/beholderkin too many?), a plethera of goblins, orcs, humans, undead, Fey are few and far between. I have a gaggle of gnomes (can be used a redcap in a pinch), and maybe 2 sprites, and thats it. the sylphs and fairies are amazing, everything else is great. The new paints look like they have nice eastery pastels for the fey folk. Briarwood on its own would make this KS a success for me, but there are so so many good things.
