Bones 6 Enthusiasm and Commentary

Has anything from the Bones V encounters been released to retail already? I'm wondering if they'll release those things as individual figures or in a boxed set like the Henchmen & Hirelings (didn't get the female Hirelings in the pledgemanager before they were out -.-).
I kinda like being able to buy individual figures, but I get that selling whole sets might be more economical. But especially with the encounters in this kickstarter it might be nice to get some salamanders without getting an additional drake, your fourth carpet and the adventurers.

There hasn't been allot of individuals out from B5 tbh. The Scions are boxed, you would have thought those would be by themselves.

I remember it being announced they would only be available as a set

Correct. I was going to buy the water scion at retail but they will not be separated

Yeah, there was only 1 or 2 of those I wanted so I did not get that expansion either.  I would definitely have bought the genie and fish guy, but not buying the boxed set just to get them.

Oh well, lots of other stuff to paint meanwhile.

Things i'll pick up at retail: sullenhall necromancer, vorlaka elder. greyhawk the bitty griffin. one of the hellborn (I was excited until i realized how little 2 of the ladies were wearing).

Just throwing this out there, but SOME of this can be corrected with paint.  "That's totally leg" can easily become a dark brown leather pant leg.   "This is clearly boobplate" can, with some effort become a metal/leather composite armor, with metal above, and leather supports.

"That's a belly button" ... is a harder thing to adjust for, should that be a deal breaker, though could be a thin silk?

*relative ease depending on skill set.  Durn near impossible for me, might be easy for you. YMMV.

Ok, dust has settled. The things I can't live without / wouldn't forgive myself for missing in this KS:

Norker on a Porker (Norker warboss denizens)

new bathalian sculpt (denizens)

Demilich (denizens, hasn't gotten enough love, gone under the radar)

Roderic and glitter (core set)

Mummy queen's cat (hakir)

all the mummies and adventurer PCs in Hakir

hugo the dog (core set, dredmere 1)

skeletal hound master (core)

extra skeletal hounds (denizens)

every single thing in briarwood (cept maybe the arborial defender). every single one.

Kyle the anniversary dragon. going to paint him green (i have an adult red). I think the ear frills fit green well.

lizard folk

Oh man, I'm really excited for the mummy cat. That is the first thing I'm taking out of the box and painting, and it shall have a place of honor on my display shelf.

I can't wait until we get more renders for some of this stuff, like the scarabfolk. Lots of interesting sculpts in Hakir, I'm so happy we got it

Greenstuff... *sigh*

Albeit I am getting tired of having to tweak, file and (in a few cases) outright FIX minis because boob-plate, boob-windows or other notions of appropriate wear.

(I'm ranting, no need to comment/chime in, but dog help me, I am probably never going to shut up about it. Not actually sorry).

Anyway. My want list is .. shorter than usual, but the maybe list includes almost everything, and thus makes up for it.

Definitely getting:

Briarwood and Denizens expansions.

Gnolls.

Men at Arms (I can almost always use spare parts, if they prove recalcitrant).

Orcs of the Ragged Wound

Chaarondar

Kyleanthros/30th Anniversary Dragon (.. I have no idea what we're calling him, but that's gonna be his name in my file. So there. 😛 )

Hellborn Heroes (no such thing as Enough Ti- Excuse me, Hellborn).

New MSP Colours

Talons of Winterfall

Egg of the Phoenix

Goblins of Rotstump Bog

and.. Extra WOLVES, because I don't actually have enough.

Considering:

Sullenhall, Tavern and Hakir expansions. Bones terrain doesn't always work out, but.. tempting, yes.

Chibi heroes and Goblins - I'd use them, almost surely, but.. if we never run in person again, do I /need/ Chibis of Shame?

Bloodclub Bugbears - I love these grumpy jerks, but I don't get to use bugbears very often..

Blacktallow Lighthouse (I need to see the sculpt before I decide..)

Storm Giant Queen - ergh.. do like the sculpt; but.. do I need another giantess?

Extra Newts - I don't know if I'm going to use the current..

Core. Tempting. I haven't done the math since the campaign ended, but if there's enough... I might just get it anyway. T'ain't like I won't paint most of it eventually, eh?

Not really interested:

... really, not much on this list.

I'm not feeling the lizardfolk; although I like them, I've never had much call for lizardfolk.

Painter's Picks, I have most of, and they're not currently colours I am using much of.

A lot of what I'm getting, I admit I'm getting for one or two pieces; Egg of the Phoenix is a good example of that; I want that guardian drake, the carpet and the egg, but the salamanders and adventurers are really just a nice bonus.  I can use them, but they're not the big draw for me that the drake is.

I might actually get the bugbears to go with Rotstump; but that's sort of why they're a maybe. ^^;

^^^ This needs to be a mood in the hobby. I like fully armored women on my table, but my sculpting skills have definitely improved because of it (as long as I keep remembering to not drink from my greenstuff water🤢).

Modifying minis to have more modest clothing wound up being a good way for me to practice basic putty skills.  Doing things like filling in the cleavage of 77057 Juliette and making her slit skirt into a full skirt gave me a lot more confidence in my putty work.  I've painted at least five versions of her so far, and only one has been "stock" - the rest  were conversions where I was trying to make her more modest.

I get that some people don't want to do putty work, but if you're interested in leveling up your skills, modest-ifying female minis is a good place to get started.

I haven’t seen the mummy cat yet, but I already know I love it. The scarabfolk are really exciting, especially the mounted merchant. It seems like the beast is gonna be pretty big.

That's an excellent idea.

This is the only image I've seen. I don't think either the the Mummy Queen or her cat are completely finished in the photo, but this should give an idea on their appearance.

Just got a promotion at work. Get to throw more money in the pledge manager when it goes live.

And regards to the "Mummy Queen" model, the preliminary sculpt doesn't look very undead to me. Which is fine if they drop "mummy" description. Currently could make a nice desert sorceress villain. I like her and hope she shows up in retail.
