Also, I want to look at a known printed mini side-by-side with December's freebie (https://www.reapermini.com/search/jolie/latest/30105), which I think might also have been 3D printed. She looks noticeably different in details from the Bones V Kickstarter version of the figure. If she is indeed a 3D print, I feel much better about the prospects for Reaper's 3D printing.

Was the bones 5 version bones black (ie injection pvc from china)? The retail version is bones usa (Siocast). you should be able to tell by looking at the bottom of the base. If there is a typical parting line/flash across the bottom then it was injection molded. If there are little dots where the support snapped off then it was printed.

The Bones V version I presume was Bones Black; there is no clear mold line on the bottom, and the bottom is concave. The newer one has a flat bottom with a mold line, so that would mean Siocast. On the other hand, the cleric that was in the hotel gift bags at ReaperCon (on the right in the picture) looks like it was probably a 3D print; only one support dot, but no mold lines. I'll compare to the February promo figure when it arrives, once Reaper thaws out enough to get orders shipped. bearsman6
I think I'm just one of those people that may be too trusting, or too optimistic. It didn't really bother me that Reaper was going to be increasing their output of prints... because I trust them as a company. They've earned at least a bit of leeway from me due to their track record. I'm kind of excited to test their prints beside their bones, honestly. I want to see if it'll hold up as well.

I don't think it is too trusting; Reaper has absolutely earned that trust. My only complaint was always the communication, slipping this 3D print bombshell into a broader update, without context or explanation. I would have loved to see them say, "We've been 3D printing minis for a while now. Here is a list of minis that were 3D printed, if you want to check out their quality. We will not 3D print any miniature unless we are satisfied that its quality is at least as high as our other miniatures." Since my latest order has arrived, I now have two 3D printed Reaper miniatures to work with, the cleric from ReaperCon and the henchwoman that is the February free figure. I think I will go ahead and paint both, and see how it goes. But based on initial examination, the quality seems just fine to me, though I must admit that I have not tried throwing them against a wall or driving over them in my car. 7

Yeah, I think most people were upset that the 3D printed minis thing was slipped in very quietly after there not even being a hint of it during the campaign or in previous updates. People don't like feeling like the wool has been pulled over their eyes, deliberately or accidentally. 4
pcktlnt
Haven't had time to keep up. Did they say when pms are closed?
Brother Jim
The 08 Feb update (#82) says this about that: When will the pledge manager close? - We don't have a firm date for this, but It will certainly be open quite a while longer with no projected closing date at this time. We will certainly give you several updates as we approach the close of Bones 6. Backers still have plenty of time to add items to their pledges! 4

I went through all my minis that I got in December and January. The only one that looks like a 3D print to me is the Belevos Traveling Wizard 07074. Here is what his base looks like in comparison to a mini I 3D printed myself with my crappy printer. Notice the many small dots. These are the result of the supports. You can see what those supports look like on my home mini. Further examining Belevos, he has some of these dots on his backpack and pouch and in a few other places. These are very insignificant and as far as I can tell did not effect the quality of the print. 🙂 Although, this model itself is very good for 3D printing. I mean, was probably designed specifically for it 🙂 Besides that, I'm not sure if I would've noticed that it was 3D printed. The quality is superb. Especially things like fingers and book pages. Although, he doesn't have many details. It's all cloth and beard 🙂 I could probably break of the raised hand if I push hard enough (don't want to try), but then I'm sure anything could be destroyed with enough brute force applied. And here is the photo of that clerik. I can see the cast line on mine. It goes from arrow to arrow Edited February 10 by Zloyduh 5

I would highly suggest Lychee if you're new at the support game, their automatic system has gotten very smart in the few updates.

I played around with its supports and got them to a pretty solid point (at least in my opinion then). Don't remember if that print was before or after... I need to upgrade to a new 3D printer overall, but no time and kind of less interested in it at the moment 🙂 EDIT: Thanks for suggesting Lychee. It looks nice and clean. It doesn't have my printer in the list, which I'm not surprised at all. So I'll be stuck with Chitubox for now. I'll definitely give it another try when I get a new printer.
