The giantess is excellent, especially given she's a work in progress.

She definitely has a classical inspiration - she reminds me of the traditional representations of Britannia:

Britannia+by+Rex+Woods.jpg

Of course it's not an exact copy, and the Reaper artist and sculptor's original spin and style show through, but the sculpt pretty clearly builds on a traditional, classical, and graceful model.

It works for me.

Me too.

I think it looks awesome the way it is.

I'm stoked that a talented artist poured their time and hard work into making something that I'll be able to own and paint.

Imho the sculpts for the new minis are all on point this time around.

Now, I'm personally shocked there's another Minotaur coming.  There is a surprising amount of them in Bones, I think they've averaged at least 1.5 per Kickstarter at this point.

There are lots of cows in Texas, they just creep into the creative process.

i'm still in the same boat so far, waiting for a dragon or other big beastie to get excited over

Shimmerscale, fairy dragons, and Nightmare are still the only things that are interesting, and not enough to warrant paying for their whole expansion / core set

but i know there's a dragon i want thanks to the previews before, so just waiting for that big boy! I was hoping we'd see some sort of big critter add on by now though, honestly lol

Y'all were busy today.

I didn't need any more giants last time and I don't need them now. Same with the 2 headed guy, so that's an easy "pass".  However, the angry tree men have potential, and I hope we get more than one.  Just like I hope we get more than one killer wasp.

Still no pics of the Lost Tomb?

I haven't even paused to mention the tree-man so far - he's one of the biggest stars of that expansion, and that expansion is full of stars.  A more manageable treant (or matching set of three or more...) than the colossal one from a few Kickstarters back was on my little wish-list, and there he is - and he couldn't have been more perfect.  That's one I'll be buying more of later when it hits retail, but I'll definitely be wanting to grab at least one of the expansion.  And, I sure wouldn't be arguing much if a bigger set of matching tree-men in different poses were to appear at some point - I for one would back that in an instant.

The big faerie dragon looks like she's about to be yet another hit for the fae set, if the blurred render and silhouette are anything to go by.  Another beautiful addition to a beautiful set.  Reaper has produced a lot of great expansions over the last six Kickstarters and there's some stiff competition, but I think this one is surely in the top five, if not the best one yet.

The mongrelfolk have really benefited from a zoomed-up picture, those grew on me instantly, once I could see them better.

The Dawnseekers and the other curated "pre-gen" adventuring groups put together for the last Kickstarter or two have been excellent - among the best adventurer groups so far in Bonesium.  Bravo!  The large random batches that are the core sets are good for what they are, but the smaller groups seem like coherent sets, and like they ought to have stories behind them.  Almost makes me wish there were PDFs with little character sheets and bios for the groups or something. I'm appreciating the free PDF adventures and "splatbooks", such as the guide to the Green Griffin Inn.  Bravo again to the production on these - I doubt these booklets get much fanfare, but I for one enjoy them 🙂

Someone earlier expressed disappointment with the Green Griffin Inn set, comparing it to the Brinewind Extras - I don't think the comparison is quite fair:  the Brinewind Extras option appears to have been under-priced a bit, and I know I'm not the only one to have remarked on just how much terrain Reaper managed to cram into that set for so low a price.  And I think it was priced only a few dollars less than an expansion, as it was - a half-dozen townsfolk or monsters added to the "Extras" could have justified a full Expansion treatment, really.  In any event, I don't plan to get this expansion, it's not for me, but if I were new to these Kickstarters and didn't already have a stash of tavern scenics and staff, GGI would be an excellent way to get everything you really need for a typical tavern encounter.  Not for me, but I want to drum up some enthusiasm for all the new collectors who, I think, will be quite happy with this set.  (I might grab this set anyway - it's one of the best I've seen, and the ghosts are something cool that I wouldn't normally see in the far blander and more generic Wizkids or Mantic equivalents, for example - in fact, all the characters have more character to them than I've seen in comparable tavern sets.)

I think I saw a couple complaints about stuff that only gets teased in the other media, and I guess I can see that point of view.  On the other hand, if I didn't know this discussion even existed and never otherwise looked at the other Reaper media, I think I'd still have fun seeing each new revel.  The reveals paced out over the weeks of the campaign are part of the fun for me  The enjoyment of that might come down to how you feel about surprises - some people don't like them, and that's fair enough.

I think I'm most looking forward to seeing what Dungeon Denizens ends up looking like.

Bravo for the folks who have been holding out for a dragon - looks like the first big one has appeared!  It wouldn't be a Reaper Bones Kickstarter without the dragons, and it looks like they're starting to appear.

I make this post fully acknowledging that there are outside factors adding to the slow growth. The state of the world, the economy, and how shipping was handled before, and in the future, are not helping.

That said, none of those things are directly impacting me, or how much I was planning to pledge.

Gotta say, I completely disagree with Ron’s assessment. My lack of enthusiasm has nothing to do with ‘not being able to see the models well’ on the KS page. It is absolutely due to what models were chosen to build the backbone of this KS. Very few of them make me pause and say “I’d like that.” Only one has gotten me to think “I NEED THAT!” And that one’s so far off we haven’t even had an unlock dollar value teased yet.

And I’m not alone.

Here are some thoughts from others at another mini forum.

I am not worried as its Reaper but this KS is losing stream in my excitement.

KS I'm the type who likes to check every hour or 2 on what has been added and get excited and if possible add money/ or plan.

I would hate to say it but I could pull out right now on what has been shown and really not be disappointed.

Is it possible that we have hit the limit on minis wants?

Nah, I think it's them, not us.

looking back just to KS5, look how many dead smexy minis came out of that. I had tons of stuff in my collection, but I still bought a lot of KS5 because it seemed like there was something for everyone. There were all those amazing options (Troll bridge! Charnel pit! Yeti fortress! Vampire castle!), there was Sophie's Revenge which alone got tons of people onboard, there were expansions for generalists (Dungeon Dwellers, Fan Favorites, Brinewind) and expansions for the more esoteric (Greek Odyssey, Chronoscope, Dark Depths). And lots of stand alone extras to get buzz really happening, like Yog Sothoth and the giant War Mammoth.

For KS 6...well, right now it is mostly for newbies. I am looking forward to both the Inn and Graveyard expansions, but I already have inn stuff and graveyard stuff, including two tombs, so these are just adding more options and some nice sculpts. Still too good a deal to pass up, but I am right with you in that they could cancel the KS right now and I wouldn't be that disappointed.

However.

It is still early days and the best stuff is yet to come. I have no doubt that there will be some great things coming, but I do think Reaper could do themselves a favour by unveiling a few of their coolest things sooner rather than later. Chibi goblins and Sophies are not gonna get it done.

Chibis and Sophies are not gonna get it done, indeed.

There is very little to entice RPG and Wargamers so far (I am both). Certainly not anything that’s going to make me want to chip in another $10 or $12 for that awesome add-on that was just unveiled. Because there are no awesome add-ons that have been unveiled.

I love Reaper, but $14 for 6 orcs 2 years from now is not enticing. I just bought 20 orcs for $30 at retail last week.

There were tons of add-ons RPG and Wargammers loved in Bones 5, and the KS grew like mad because of it. This time, they're just not there.

I hope it turns around. I hope I spend more than I should.

But right now, there’s diminishing faith that'll happen.

I love Reaper, but $14 for 5 orcs 2 years from now is not enticing. I just bought 20 orcs for $30 at retail last week.

I definitely feel some of this.

Background: I'm a relatively new mini collector, fairly new to KS, and this is my first Reaper KS. But I also have a fair amount of liquid budget that I can commit to this should I so desire.

I've been watching this KS excitedly not knowing what to expect. I've looked back at the past few and seen insane ($3+mil) numbers by the end. I have to wonder if that isn't where 6 is going too. But it seems slow currently.

The Core set spoke to the new collector in me. I can see why it isn't great for a lot of others though. The Fae expansion spoke to ALL of me. I see many others feel the same, so maybe it's just as awesome as I thought. 😉 And now this dragon ... I'm in for that. Hopefully a lot of others will be as well. Maybe it'll drive a push.

I suspect there is at least another dragon coming my way with that anniversary beauty. But that's just on faith. How much will I end up spending? I don't know. I just want to see the fun things become a reality.

True the current add ons are not the best. But I have higher expectations for the upcoming ones (the green griffon extras sounds fun and more of what I actually wanted from the GG). The hellebore look interesting while the wolves for the core set look good (was hopping there would be 6 or 7 in a pack, but they did just release the old wolves in plastic)

The hellborn look to have a nice variety while keeping a common aesthetic.

The poses for the wolves look more rare than the other manufacturers. The top can be howling, but it also looks like if it was smelling the air.  The middle is a stalking post, but the face doesn't seem to be growling. While the bottom looks more surprised to find you there than anything.

Wow! I love the look of our new hefty dragon boy. He has so much character! I'm definitely adding this one.

This and the giant skeleton have been the standouts for me so far. I know a lot of people already have plenty of undead models, but personally I'm excited to get a huge army of zombies, skeletons, ghosts, and vampires all at once. 😀
