Comments like this almost make me want to go back and dig up all the glowing reviews from 2013 talking about how Bones quality was indistinguishable from metal once painted.

Yup.  Zombies, too.

You want to see creative, look up Lost Kingdom, Mori Elves.  Their asian inspired fey creatures are blowing Reaper out of the water:

They are really beautiful.  They look great in render, but won't print worth sand at gaming scale.    The ones you do get to print will be too fragile for anything but a carefully  guarded display case.  Different minis for different purposes.  Very beautiful work.

No, it was probably just misplaced during an update.  It hasn't been removed from the project or anything.

Or possibly they shuffled the order of things a bit. Like Inarah said though, it's not gone.

Get it. In the mean time you can get the other tavern set you want and use immediately. Have in your game the players get to know the bar/tavern you bought. Have it become familiar in all your campaigns to the point that they consider it a second home (for their murder hobos).  In 2 years when you receive this one, set up a Cobra Kai style rival bar open up across the street. Then you can uses both sets and have them have meaning. At $50 over 2 years... thats less then $2 a month. Just cut back that $2 on your gaming budget every month and it will have paid for itself.

*rotates arm 1 degree* Ok, ok, ouch, stop twisting my arm! I'll get it! 🙂

In all seriousness, I am going to get it. I've been wanting to do a terrain board of a small town/city for a while, and this will give me some stuff to populate a second watering hole for the area. And it will probably take me towards the 2-year mark to even get to the point where a second or third tavern is ready to build.

And hopefully others can show kindness to a frustration that is a bit more nuanced than simply "not liking" a product.

Very much this.

Here’s to hoping for more females in that tavern, in some role other than servant. I was really hoping for some women sitting down and drinking or eating as well.

The Sophies are definitely nice for folks lacking Sophies. But since I have these ones in metal, I really have zero interest in them in plastic. Good ones for expanding the line, and having a material option. But not great for enticing veteran folks, I think. Going to need new Sophie sculpts for that.

Do love that fairy dragon. Very cute.

It was true enough in my case at least.  Which doesn't say much for my skill at painting 😄   In those early days of Bones, the quality was pretty good, all things considered - on a par with, or better than, much of the competition, I would say - and I think a lot of those Bones figures really do come close to their metal counterparts.

Which isn't to say that there weren't some figures with really soft faces, or partial hands, or noodle-swords/spears, or dinky ankles that wouldn't stand straight....  But some of those figures, I think, were certainly better than others.  Some of the newest Bones figures are getting to the point where they might be improving on metal (I'm thinking Bones USA may be forgiving of molding techniques that metal might have trouble with.)

Still, even today, for generic RPG orcs, goblins, skeletons, and many NPCs, those old Bones figures are more than adequate for the job, in my book.

Those pig-men will be hard to resist!  Look perfect to me for the purposes of those who have been looking for old-school "pig-faced" orcs - they aren't copies of the old monster manual illustrations, but do they need to be?  They seem to be ready to go for some sort of "The House on the Borderland" adaptation, at least - I guess there's some Mythos monsters going on here this early after all 😄 Hopefully they'll be included in the core, or in one of the expansions I'd be getting anyway.

The fairy-dragon looks better and better - great work on that one!  I'm afraid I might have to paint that one up and give it away to my mother, she'd never forgive me if I didn't 🙂

Well we didn’t get a single unlock yesterday and pledge levels continue to drop by the day. This clearly wasn’t the start many of us wanted and it seems Reaper agrees as they’re shifting unlocks around and dropping updates left and right to try to get some excitement going. The issue is the core set just doesn’t have the value people want yet and the possible value in the future just isn’t enough to buy in when there’s no guarantee they’ll actually be pieces you want.

The solution to me seems simple, the current core set need value now to get people buying in. Reaper dropped the 5000 backer mini this year (which was a strange decision anyways), but it would give them them the perfect opportunity to add one now to up that core set worth. Bones 5 had the pizza dragon to tie it in with the theme so I say add a griffon, the namesake of the campaign. Make it a 3-inch base monster Karl Franz would be proud to ride off into the sunset. Put it right at the top of the page so it’s the first thing you see for the core set like the giant was for Bones 5. I think this would get people excited again and show there’s already good reason to buy in without needing to wait for something good to unlock first.

I will add that I think the expansions also still feel lacking in value a little bit, but that's in part because I have several Bones 5 expansion boxes still sitting beside me and those were great.

With no real mystery left for what's going to be the next unlock for the first three expansions (they've been completely revealed, even though none have been fully unlocked); that's also killed the possible excitement and momentum. I now know what all five unlocks are, which now means it's going to take much longer for new stuff to be added... except so much of the new stuff now also seems to be randomly shown off. I understand changing the approach, but it does feel a bit chaotic that the best stuff we're seeing has nothing to do with unlocks or money going up.

In my opinion the slower KS6 start is not down to the core set sculpts or increasing numbers of 3d printers….it is down to the current state of the world. So many delayed kickstarters, so much uncertainty, so many price increases across the board. Things out of the hands of Reaper.

I know I was hoping for a solely US based KS this time and I am in Germany not the US!

It could be all of the above…

I had D&D last night. I talked to both my players who also occasionally DM, and who both paint mini’s, and both bought in on Bones 5. Neither saw anything interesting enough in Bones 6 to back it.

The pig men sculpts are interesting. Not exactly the direction I would go for a wereboar (the best use of them in D&D), but perfectly serviceable. But this is the first time I’ve truly been hit by the “I already have that” fairy. I got a Wrath of Kings Teknes starter box on clearance for like $5 a couple years back. It comes with a dozen pig men. I already have more than I’ll ever use.
