Moderator Popular Post Guindyloo Posted April 7 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted April 7 You can consider this post to be stated in my "mod voice." I'm going to make a general statement that I don't mean to be in direct response to any one person, I just want everyone to be on the same page regarding the moderation of this thread. To date, unless I missed something, we have only removed ONE post from this thread - that one post was in violation of the stated rules and so it was removed and the poster was contacted regarding that removal. We have not removed anything else. We do not remove posts if we can help it, unless they are in violation of the rules. This is different from previous Bones kickstarter threads where off-topic chatter was often heavily moderated and removed. We're not doing that. We might, if necessary, give a friendly reminder to steer things back to the topic on hand if things are going too far off the rails, but generally that hasn't happened so we've seen no reason to intervene. We have not, nor will we, censor comments about what people don't like about the kickstarter, the miniatures being offered, the way things are revealed, etc. so long as those posts remain within the stated rules. If your post contains personal attacks or name-calling, for instance, you should expect that to be removed. We will absolutely step in if we believe that a topic is likely to cause a fight whether by the content of the topic itself or simply that it has been hashed out for too long and has begun to devolve. Those are the instances where people are more likely to get upset that we've stepped in and we understand that, but it is necessary at times and we will do it. We still, more often than not, prefer to opt for a friendly "mod voice" reminder rather than removing posts, but sometimes those must go hand in hand. So if you are someone who has been stating things that you don't like in a friendly and/or neutral manner that stays within the rules - you are in NO danger of having your posts removed from this forum thread. Zero. It will not happen. However, you must understand that just like you are free to state that you don't like things on offer, other people are also free to state that they don't like seeing all of the negative comments and so long as those people are staying within the rules, and not picking fights or attacking anyone, they are not in danger of having their posts removed either. Everyone gets to state their opinions about the state of things regarding the kickstarter in the kickstarter thread. Everyone is obligated to state those opinions politely without an intent to cause fights amongst their fellow forum denizens. Do we wish that everyone had nothing but nice things to say? Of course we do. Many of us have personal friendships with various Reaper folks and the sculptors that have worked and are working still so hard on this kickstarter and everything that's going into it - a couple of the forum mods even are those people. Beyond that, we are mods for Reaper because we believe in them, the company as a whole and the community that they've created over the past 30 years. We are human beings with our own opinions, approaches and in some cases, we may carry the baggage of past interactions that we didn't handle with the poise that we strive for now. We are not immune to frustration and as most of us have jurisdiction over multiple platforms, we are seeing a lot of the more negative comments (or perhaps it is better to say "not implicitly positive") from multiple angles and in many cases, it is coming from the same group of people across all of those platforms. That doesn't mean that we don't still strive to moderate from as neutral of a standpoint as possible and it certainly doesn't mean that we're going to abuse our moderation powers to side with our personal opinions. We don't do that here and we're not about to start. Similarly, many people here on the forum are participating across those multiple platforms as well and may be experiencing that same frustration, just as the people who feel that things in the kickstarter are not going the way that they would like are experiencing their own frustration. There is no need for these things to separate us as a community as IMO both sides have a starting point in love and concern for Reaper and do not in any way negate how a person ultimately feels about Reaper. I have always said, regarding the kickstarter comments, that if you feel like you're seeing a lot of negativity, then rather than engage it directly, create your own positivity. You are in control of your own actions and not anyone else's. Seeing a lot of comments about what people don't like? Leave them be and make your own comments about what you do like. It's as simple as that. Thank you for reading this and thank you for being here. Your constructive feedback and your efforts to keep this a friendly and welcoming environment despite differences in opinion are seen and valued greatly. As always, if you see a post that is in violation of the board rules, please use the report button to alert mod staff so that we can review, discuss and take appropriate action if any is warranted. 20
lexomatic
I'm so behind. Just p60 now but saw thr unlock for the emerging crab creature, and that's what I'm waiting to see. If it unlocks it might be the thing that gets me to back. I'm going to push back on all the comments I see about lack of value. The value IS there, though maybe not personally for every backer for whatever reason (for non newbies here it's probably 20x20 minis ad a major factor). These are great sets, but some things have a lot of competition , like taverns/ dressing, so that only makes sense if you have none. That doesn't mean the value isn't there.
Snowpaint
Were there bugbears previewed on Reaper Live a while ago that were going to show up in Bones VI? Where does everyone think they're going to land? Encounter? Core set? Add-on like the gnolls and orcs? I love having the variety of poses for creatures like this.

Loved the Dungeon Dwellers models in Bones V. And I like how the new orc set is in the same style.

These are great sets, but some things have a lot of competition , like taverns/ dressing, so that only makes sense if you have none. That doesn't mean the value isn't there. This is what I have been thinking all along. It's not a question of whether these sets are a good deal; they are all very good deals compared to retail value. The question is how much value they have for the buyer. I see a lot of things I don't really need and would not buy individually, so I actually made a list of what I would be willing to pay for each revealed figure. I'm buying any set where the cost is lower than what I would spend individually. So far, that is the core (assuming we unlock the Driftlurker, my favorite sculpt revealed so far), two expansion sets, and two of the add-on options (plus the not-yet-unlocked dragon). And all of that is despite literally dozens of miniatures I don't really want; I look at those as a free bonus.
Moderator Chaoswolf Posted April 7 Author Moderator Share Posted April 7 That's a really good way look at it. I've had a fair number of previous Bones Kickstarter figures grow on me a lot once they were in hand. 8

These are nice, I'm waiting for more stuff like the crayfish and the anubis. If there's enough I'll back, if not I'll buy those at retail. I do like the Giant Skeleton, great sculpt but the rest of that set is no use to me, I already have a lot of such minis. It's great value for anyone who wants to start an Undead Warband though!
amuller33
Here's my enthusiastic Deep Thought of the day: "Its good to be an obsessive collector of Bones. I don't have to worry if Bones 6 has value or entices me like past KS. I'm buying one of everything no matter what." That's been another DEEEEEP thought.
