You should see the one she currently has on her desk 🙂 oooo exciting! you be sure to tell her that she's still the best at doing dragons, from my super picky and critical anatomical stand point 😄 i'll have to get those wyverns at retail unless they make that expansion super duper amazing Edited April 10, 2022 by Sirithiliel
Marc
Hey folks, quick question ... I'm currently backing at the $50 level in order to get at least one of the expansion sets. Just want to confirm - I can still get the Core set and maybe another expansion set after the KS ends during the Pledge Manager phase right? Thanks!

Yes, you can add money in the pledge manager after the KS closes
Disserrma
Yes! Afaik reaper put in different pledge levels to make it easy for someone who just wanted a core to pledge that amount, and to allow others to pledge the minimum. You can add to your pledge in the pledge manager or (if you have the funds and desire) increase the amount in the kickstarter, which helps unlock more stretch goals. Pledging more later does not help unlock more things.
DragonWyrm
Busts The biggest problem with the busts was that they were just the metal busts bonified. Any of the more experienced painters who wanted those busts would have already had them and for beginners most were looking at rpg minis. So busts were the last thing on their mind. The promotional photos didn't do them justice either. Now them being boring is a thing, thought I do think that they work well enough as part of a chest set. It would have been fun to actually be able to make a chest set out of the busts since they are just the right size! The busts would have gone over better if reaper made an additional kickstarter targeted at bust painters a couple months after the bones kickstarter. 17 hours ago, WhiteWulfe said: The dragon bust on the other hand? That one's lovely, Yeah. Plus you can make it work as a sea serpent. Just slot in some acrylic sheet with waves (you can even keep the plinth!) and voila you have a statue and sea serpent depending on what you feel like. 14 hours ago, Glitterwolf said: paint busts, resin even. But I do not like Elves...if only one of them was an undead, I will be honest and say that most of the busts could easily be painted as wraiths or vampires. Especially the rose princess. I remember seeing someone paint her as half undead. I think the least undead figure is the dragon summoner, but she can easily be done as a fire elemental. Dragons I have a dislike of the 3D sculpted dragons. Most of the poses seem un-natural and stilted (there are exceptions: gem dragon, dragon sitting on ruined tower, dragon puffing its cheeks [swamp]). There is also the problem that one of the 3D Dragons I got (the one sitting on ruined tower) had a gap the size of my thumb between its tail sections. I needed to sculpt in some really bad scales to hide it (I could have done better scales, but it really made me loose a lot of enthusiasm for the project). So that pushed me against the 3D Dragons. Furthermore, for the gem dragon I had trouble keeping one of its wings stuck on, I fixed that by adding a lot of epoxy into the gap. Meanwhile every single hand sculpted dragon had a 0.5 mm gap at worse, and that included when I did stuff wrong and needed to pull it apart to fix.

Definitely true, but I would like a more expressive model. Some examples of busts I painted, I would buy Reaper Bones busts if they were more like these and diverse, especially in the Bones Black. Maybe one day Reaper could do a smaller KS for stuff like this and add some 72mm complete minis as well maybe? http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/65484-legendarion-hyena-warrior-bust-gebhuza-by-xherman1964/?hl=bust http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/72130-countess-karnstein-bust-by-xherman1964-solarwind/ https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/85552-la-charra-dias-de-los-muertos-bust-by-glitterwolf/&tab=comments#comment-1810844 http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/63938-kabuki-bust-ky-ra-female-barbarian-16-scale-xherman1964/?hl=bust And of course my Brutus: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/78734-boxer-dog-bust-as-my-pet-brutus-by-glitterwolf/

I agree when it comes to the Dragon Princess bust. But the rose elf is really expressive. I think its due to the way she just looks so sad. But then again the painted version I spoke about before and found again, may have really shifted my perception. It was done by Cyradis: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/94950-last-breath-reapers-maiden-bust/ I just love it. Then again, when most of the busts were compared against the only other bust I had (Granny Weatherwax by Micro Art Studio). They fell flat when it came to character. They were too perfect. No wrinkles. And I think that may be the problem. Edited April 11, 2022 by DragonWyrm 2

I hope Reaper will one day release a few busts, a Sophie might be a cool idea including part of her wings of course.

From Bones 5 i did like the swamp dragon, but over all i definitely prefer the hand sculpted ones. Especially Julie's. They just have so much more detail to them. A good example i'm meaning is Julie's Narthrax. Such a engaging, exciting pose he's in. Not something I see done with 3D sculpted ones, who tend to just stand there with all 4 feet, or just 3 and one raised up, planted firmly on their terrain piece. Plus as i rambled about before, I much prefer how Julie does wings and i haven't seen many, if any at all, other people who do wings on dragons like she does. Call it a stickler pet peeve, but I just like anatomically correct wings and so many people leave off the propatagium, and even more commonly have teeny tiny wing membranes. Sure, sure, dragons are 'magic' and probably could fly even if their wings were as tiny, but it's just something I like to see in dragons: believable anatomy. but i do look forward to see what dragons are in this KS, i know the really big guy they showed off looks interesting, AND he actually has a propatagium and a somewhat decent wing membrane. it at least extends to the front of his hips. we shall see if that carries over to the actual sculpt... MoonglowMinis
I'm definitely on the other side of the Dragon opinion. I actually really prefer the newer 3D designs. I think I like the chunkiness better. It's purely a preference thing. I also prefer that in my minis as well. I like a bit of exaggerated cartoonish features. They're more fun for me to paint that way and they fit better with my mental image that often views D&D games as comic books or animated series. - Though, funny enough, that's a thin line and I sometimes get annoyed when they dip too far. I use a lot of CMON minis in my pirate game, and about half the sculpts are perfect for what I want, and the other half are too outlandish.
GoldenPiggy
I have a quick question for those who have been around the Reaper Kickstarter block before. After the miniatures ship, do they tend to flood into eBay or other places on the secondary market? Do many people buy extra sets to resell them in pieces? This is mostly academic curiosity, as I doubt I will want to part with any miniatures once I have them in my hand, though I am curious about whether it is easy to get these figures secondhand before they get released for retail.

Yes you'll see quite the few on the bay of evil and such, however, some people think they can make a profit on these so if you won't pledge for the KS then it is often better to wait for the official release to avoid paying too much. Some things that won't make release after all could be a thing though.

I was just curious, this being my first time through this and all.

I'm not a dragon expert by any means, but I wonder if the tendency for the newer dragons to sit with 3 or 4 feet on their terrain piece is more a functional choice, than a 3D sculpt issue, these days because Reaper found so many of the dragons on 2 legs, with more dynamic poses and wings, when cast in Bones, tended to droop over time. 59 minutes ago, GoldenPiggy said: I have a quick question for those who have been around the Reaper Kickstarter block before. As others have answered, yes, they will be on ebay. But one correction; you will be able to find some listed before they ship, listed as preorders, by some enterprising sellers who want to get a jump! 😄 Edited April 11, 2022 by Chris Palmer

Sirthiliel - Here I will have to both agree with you and disagree with you. I prefer how Julie does her wings, I just wish she replaced the front limbs with them. I have always preferred dragons to have either a pterosaur pose or no wings at all as both look both much more natural and functional. I have several with four legs and two wings but I find them, for lack of a better word, "wrong" visually.
