So not quite half way done timewise, and we need 8,300 backers. That averages out to... oof, 489 people per day? Yikes. Bones 5 had 18,587. Bones 4 had 16,200. It's doable. Just going to take a lot of people pulling the trigger that haven't been so far. But Bones 4 had over 10k at the this point. The difference I HOPE is the lack of waves in Bones 6. Instead of people locking in to get an earlier wave, there MAY be a heck of a lot that just told KS to give them a 48 hour reminder. Im sticking to this belief and that this influx will get us many many add on in the last two days. Hey its a reasonable belief! AJ
Corsair
Doing away with the waves is a mixed blessing. I have been in Wave1 of 5 and Wave 2 of 4. Due to late arrivals of some items, both my orders shipped much later. So I think that Reaper dropping them is a reasonable idea to see how it works this time. Also, many folks that bought the core sets in the last couple of KS may have been longer time players/GMs that simply decided to bulk up collections with the better quality of the minis we are now seeing in Bones. cawatrooper
I hope things pick up. I get why maybe things are pretty slow, though. We're still in a weird worldstate, and cash is tight for many people. Plus, shipping can be a nightmare, so people may still be a little cautious about that. And Bones V just came out less than a year ago- personally, I'm way behind on painting. I really have absolutely no need for more minis. That said... I wonder how much longer this will be a viable model? No doubt a lot of us will continue long with the hobby, but so far the Bones kickstarters have coincided with a huge surge in widespread interest in tabletop gaming. At this point, are people tending to get what they needed? I hate to be doom and gloom, but I know that even personally, my purchasing of minis has slowed down to just a fraction of what it once was, as my shelves fill up. Personally, what I'm most excited for are the encounters. Encounters are fun, they bring neat terrain, and they tell a bit of a story. They aren't just another big box of minis that I'll get around to painting in a few years. So, I really do hope things pick up, I love Reaper. But man, maybe the next Kickstarter (if there is one) should re-evaluate its strategy.
amuller33
Yeah I have been Wave 1 the last 3 times and twice I was delayed on a missing item. ( since I usually buy 1 of everything its a guarantee I would be delayed by 1 item lacking) I will admit that there has to be an impact of bones core exhaustion as so many people did pledge B5, There are other reasons as well for the apparent lag, but no need to re-litigate. I am still positive that We will all get a mountain of plastic at a great price! just trying to be positive AJ

Maybe I will feel differently as my collection grows (I took up painting as a hobby fairly recently, and my collection can still be counted using only three digits), but I can't even imagine expressing such a sentiment as "I don't need more miniatures." It really is a terrible thought.

Cyradis
The backer difference absolutely isn't just due to the EU shipping difficulties with how different it is from previous Bones runs. Some sure, but not that much. 21 minutes ago, GoldenPiggy said: I second this reaction. There is always need for more minis. It really is a terrible thought. The type of figure you need might change. I'll never say I don't need more minis, but I may say that I don't need specific ones, which is what is happening here for me. I was in for a box of figures of a size that I could fit in the box for Bones IV and V. This round... eh. An expansion pack or two and a few add-ons maybe. I'm much more likely to spend $50 on a single high end resin figure than I am an expansion pack of Bones figures right now, for example. That's just me changing as a painter over time - the Bones material is great at what it is for. I do wish their paint pack in this one was different. A lot of those paints are already in the line and not new colors. If the paint set had new colors, I'd be extremely tempted by it.

I believe it was Rhonda Bender who said there would be two different paint add-ons. The first one is existing paints selected by the Reaper painters, paints not selected for previous Kickstarters. The second is supposed to be all new ones. While I don't need any more paint, I'll probably be in for one set anyway. I don't get how they can make so many new colors. They've got a huge number of them already.

The more miniatures you get, the more selective you want to be in what you add. I am honestly a little skeptical about all of this, because I generally prefer painting metal miniatures, but I decided to go all in to get a lot more miniatures for gaming without spending an absolute fortune. It turns out this Bones Kickstarter is exactly what I want in terms of miniatures at this point, but that is not true for everyone, and especially not for people who have been buying massive quantities of miniatures from the other Bones Kickstarters.
Sirithiliel
Indeed. My husband and I have backed bones 2, 3, 4, and 5. We got the coreset on 2,3, and 4. In 5 i got expansions and add ons. Due to Covid and moving away, we haven't been able to in-person game for 2 years, so those minis have been sitting idle. I lost a lot of my drive to paint, mostly because i don't see a reason to anymore. We don't play DND in person now, i haven't been to Reapercon in 2 years and i'll be missing this year as well, so i have no drive to paint competitive either i'm backing this kickstarter in the hopes that in 2 years things will be better. We will be able to game again, I can go to ReaperCon again, and i once ore have enthusiasm and inspiration for painting. In that spirit, i'm going in for any expansions / Add ons that catch my fancy. So far...that's not really anything. I am going to get the Fae expansion because i like the fairy dragon and it'll be over half the price of the expansion at retail if estimates are to be believed. i'm considering the chonky dragon but it doesn't quite do it for me, design wise. It's a good sculpt but not quite what i look for in a dragon

Fiendish influence makes sense for a dragon who tried to bind a Balor to his chest. Though in that case, maybe he'd be even bigger. I mean, Ashardalon’s stat block was for a half-fiend Colossal* great wyrm red dragon. *Colossal starts at a 6” base, but can be bigger.

I was resistant to new paints last time, but I thought that ~2 years out I might want/need some and it turned out to be a good idea for me. 47 minutes ago, Serenity said: I don't get how they can make so many new colors. They've got a huge number of them already. By continuing to release new colors the paint line stays in the vendor catalog for game stores. If they put out a set and stopped there it would be de-listed in a month or two and none of the game stores would be able to order it from their wholesaler on credit. Slow monthly releases keeps Reaper product visible to merchants.

Doubly so with a lot of beloved colours getting the axe, either with no warning or in late October when winter's already set in in colder climates, so we couldn't put an order in during the fire sale (they ere only $0.99 each, but I wasn't willing to risk frozen paint because a frozen bottle still really hurts)
