Embiggening Bones? Scale creep in recent models

Fortunately the old Grenadier stuff is still out there, and I managed to grab a few dwarf bear riders before Brexit and new one stop shop VAT rules kicked in.

 

The Reaper metal dwarfs are usable with most of my other dwarfs. I backed a Ral Patha kickstarter a few years ago and, much as the dwarfs are really nice, they're smaller than old school GW ones. Sadly, the one Bones USA dwarf I have is so big that it went straight into my "never gonna paint that" box

I guess I am just not OCD enough.  the scale difference between 28mm and 32mm is just not enough for me to care.  25 to 32 is enough to make me think they are on the shorter end of the scale and many of my old grenadier minis have been repurposed to halflings and gnomes.

 

My only gripe with Bones 5 was the Dragons.  the initial prints were significantly larger and i was a little disappointed with just huge minis rather than gargantuan.  I know it doesnt really matter but I paint dragons mostly for display rather than play and I like the bigger platform.

Who knows if it'll make a difference, but if enough folks tell them it's annoying, maybe they'll cut it out. 

Maybe they'll update their page?

25mm Heroic Scale Fantasy Miniatures

 

Hasn't been 25mm Heroic Scale for a long time.

Maybe a pipe dream 🙂 but 3D software allows custom miniatures, so *maybe* we'll see 3D software that will support a wide range of miniatures (eg. HeroForge?), and this range will be both consistent in scale and proportion. I already like the Random feature, where you can set parameters that you want to set, and have the rest of the miniature as a surprise!
