TACOS! What's your favorite kind? What [toppings] do you like [on] them?

Sometimes I feel like I don’t read or write the same language as every one else. Forget the Kings English…

I just felt like popping into the thread, typing hamburger/beef and then leaving was kinda boring, so I decided to add amplifying information to create a more interesting and complete answer. ::):

TACOS! What's your favorite kind? What sides do you like with them?

Yes, please.   I've had all kinds with beef, chicken, shrimp, and pork, hard and soft shelled.  A place in Lewisville, near Reaper used to have amazing soft tacos with stewed pulled chicken.  Sadly, I don't live in Dallas any more.  I used to know a place that did good shrimp tacos, and they had dessert tacos made with almond flour and filled with strawberries.  I like fish tacos with slaw and crema, too.

We like to go to a local place here that does very traditional Mexican home cooking and they serve sides of refried beans and rice, shredded lettuce, pico de gallo, guacamole, salsa and chips.  I usually get a margarita, too.   At home I tend to make either rice or beans, and skip the chips.

I prefer soft tacos aka burritos but when I do eat 'em, I generally build them ground beef, shredded cheese, a little bit of lettuce, tomatoes or more often mild chunky salsa (there is toms in that) & sour cream & spanish/taco rice. Pretty much the same for soft, but if we have it, refried beans (canned "dog food" esque type). My favorite eat out ones are soft tacos from a fast food place called Taco Time (business originally out of Eugene, OR, now I think based in AZ).

Sides, yah tacos, tacos & more tacos!!

I am more of a burrito Guy...I like all sorts of burritos though, especially bean burritos.

I don't like tacos. I'm more of a burrito/chimi kinda dude. Tacos are too messy, I hate messy food (it's an OCD thing).

I'm not picky on the ingredients in a burrito, though. They're a regular delivery device for leftovers, so even things like thanksgiving burritos (which are amazing btw, turkey/potato/cranberry/dressing).

Burritos are just the wormholes of tacos, with space/time folding in on itself. That's why you can get from one end to the other in faster time that you could with a taco of similar size.

Glen Bell started Taco Bell.

But he didn’t invent the hard shell taco.
Soft shell Tacos (either corn or flour tortillas) predate the hard shell type.

He got the recipe from a woman that had a restaurant on Route 66.  PBS had a series on women on Route 66 that talked about that.

Being a rural Canadian, the kind made with the kit from the grocery store that likely barely little more than a passing resemblance to the real thing, I'm sure.

That said, beef, with all the generic regular toppings, in a soft shell preferable, so I don't make "as much" of a mess.

I'm also found of taco salad, which you can make low carb.

What are you working on building or painting this month? have any pictures?

Tanks, many tanks.  I have a bunch to get assembled and hopefully primed and base coated before a big tank war in 2 weeks.

A King Tiger I'm currently working on.  The ...unusual turret and barrel are because this is the King Tiger X from Konflikt '47 so that is the SciFi heavy rail gun.  I'll be assembling the normal turret for it today (the K47 kits like this come with the full plastic kit you'd get if you bought the normal Bolt Action King Tiger box, plus the SciFi bits, which is nice as I play both games.)

I'm slowly working on my little setup for playing bass at living room volumes but sounding great. Last weekend was testing some bass-reduction stuff (placement and a ghetto amp stand). I usually play around midnight, so even though I have a lot of room around my house (which is also masonry, which helps), I want to keep it reasonable.

I play a PC game called Rocksmith about 8 hours a week currently, that's been my creative focus for the last couple years. Current favorite chart to play is the full album of Heaven & Hell by Sabbath, but at around a half-hour it eats up a lot of my set time. Also on a Four Tops binge these days (and I just got a bunch of Persona 5 tracks). I've been building a bit of an archive over the past 10 years, probably over 3000 songs right now!

So far I've added a Digitech Whammy pedal (with a mod that lets the game control it via MIDI to pitch shift to each song, no more tuning!) and a Darkglass Photon (tone shape, compression, eq, splitter). Also using an old, partially broken Kasino practice amp (I like their solid state stuff, it's what I used back in the gigging day), I've got a couple busted amps I'm trying to nurse back to health. I need maybe one more pedal (a chorus or verb) to moisten the sound a little more, then a powered pedal board so I can tuck it all away between sessions.

Finishing the Bones 5 blood demons (I think that's what they're called. The ones without wings and flayed bodies). Photos to go in the Sandgrave topic when done. I would like to cut the sculpted bases off, but that is some seriously strong plastic. I'm going to strip some Croc Games Basti and Asar and paint them next.

I'm looking at buying the Army Painter flesh set, but with shipping that will be my whole budget this month. I also found some critters I really like at North Star Miniatures.

I found a scrap piece of MDF that is perfect for a ruined wall. I will probably build some regular square houses for scenarios out of foamcore next.

Between Mother's Day and having to put the dock in May Long, I probably won't get very far.

Pictures later, I'm at work right now. I have about 15 various projects scattered all over my workbench in various states of completion.  The most recent of which is converting and painting the bugbears from Bones 1.

I haven’t put a paintbrush to these guys yet, but I want to get started on this group of 21 “hobgoblins” from the Adina Corporation, from about 1979.

As you can see, some were previously primed, and one of the marching hobgoblins with spears has someone else’s paint job on it. Three of the sword-wavers need weapons repair.

If you’ve never heard of Adina, I’m not surprised, as it was a long time ago and they didn’t last long.  It did turn out, though, that they had been represented in my collection for a long time, once we figured out what they were.  My brother had picked up a package of 3 Adina hill giants (not especially giant, as you see) on a family vacation around 1979, which had two of the stone throwers and one with a club.  We had lost track of the manufacturer, though, and it took a while to identify them.  I’d wheedled a stoner thrower out of him years before, but as we shifted into “games of our adolescent dreams” mode around 2015, I eventually managed to acquire a pair.  The other fellow is a Ral Partha 1200AD series Viking, for contemporary scale.  Anyway, after finding a few Adinas (including those black primed, but not yet painted, archers) in various lots, we now know a lot more about Adina’s output than we knew then.

I'm just doing a bunch of low quality speed paints right now. Got burned out on stuff recently and realized near everything I was painting was for reasons other than my own personal enjoyment. So I put all that away, grabbed the first thirty or so minis that made me happy and got to working on them.

Anyways, my projects get separated into three groups: in progress, ready to go, and prep work.

Here are the in progress minis:

The ready to go minis:

And the minis getting prepped for later (that's the third mast I've worked on for the pirate ship in the back there, slow going but I'll get there eventually):

I'm also brewing a batch of beer tomorrow for National Homebrew Day on a new system my wife talked me into getting. So tonight I'm getting that system built, sanitized and up and running for tomorrow morning.
