lexomatic
Toddler decided they wanted to paint without me and did a whole bunch of palette filling. Unfortunately that paint couldn't go back on the bottles. I know some paints are oop, so I'll be looking at the list in this forum. But there's some paints I really liked. I'm limited by what's in stock locally, which means one location that carries non GW paints. I'm periodocally going to post aboit stuff that I no longer have enough to paint to try and get suggestions for replacemrnts that people have liked. This is really brutal for me budget wise so... ugh Maybe I'll have a few hours to go through things later today.
lexomatic
Some good news, local art supply store had free shipping promotion So I could replace my acrylic inks at not super expense.

Assuming you don't already know about it, the paintRack app (from Courageous Octopus) is pretty handy at trying to find equivalents. The full version is pretty cheap, too: only about the cost of a bottle of paint.
lexomatic
Yes my toddler plays with my phone and completely messed things up before I could save. I don't really have 3 hours to enter everything again. 1

crowsandbones
When I get home after work, I will check my back up inventory; I may have a few of these OOP colors that i'd be willing to let go of. Lots of the colors in your list are still in production and can be found on the site though. 1

Today again, in the space of 2 minutes , my toddler just dumped out ALL my acrylic inks. So the ones i just received in replacement that I got on sale, plus the 12 or so that I previously had collected on clearance prices. So that's 100$ I need to replace. I'm very much close to quitting. I have no time to paint. No time to organize my paints so my kid can't do this. Never been able to game with my minis. Have no hope of being able to do anything with this pile. It is completely gutting.

Inarah
If you start a GoFundMe, let me know by PM. You have enough friends here that a series of small donations could help replenish that paint collection.
lexomatic
Happened again. Some stuff is not replaceable like last time. Like many of my liquitex inks. Decided to pare down any replacement buys, by looking at essential paints.modified by what I already have and can find. Starting with https://birdwithabrush.com/tag/paint/ Sadly no idea how some of the newer paints compare to some I no longer have and stores also do not have. Long distance shipping when weather is cold is a no go... Wondering if stormchaser blue is a good ultramarine, kraken ink a dioxaine purple, any of the dungeon dwellers fairly pure oxides? they look possible Those seem to be the biggest difficulty @WrenIs the correct tag, I think? Inarah
Stormchaser is a good dark blue, but it's not a pure color, it's got some white in it and maybe some black. So far I have only used it out of the bottle, haven't tried mixing with it. If you are looking for something you can mix I'd go with Clear Blue, Brilliant, or Ritterlich (which may have some indigo). If you are looking for oxides, try Yellow Ochre Oxidized Red Oxidized Brown I'd say yes on the Kraken ink, but have not used it. It looks very close to the old Imperial purple (not at all like what's shown on the website) a very dark blueish purple.

Yeah the " recommended" colours (from the blog post) are not available locally. So was trying to gauge by other stuff I have. Considering how much I've spent on paint supplies that have ended up on my desk and floor this year I need to do some things. Other options will be looking at liquitex acrylic gouache vs other mini brands when those are an option. $ are proportional. Pigments likely purer. cmorse
Check to see if any of the bigger art supply/craft stores in your area have a store brand matte fluid acrylic. I've used Utrecht and Artist Loft. With a bit of flow aid it's not much different than mini paint.
Inarah
Have you considered driving down to hobby stores in the US? You may be able to place an order with one of them and pick it up some weekend. I know the drive from TO to Buffalo is only a couple hours, I've done it myself. Of course, I don't know what border crossing is like these days, but I have friends in Vancouver who do it every month or so.
