galad2003
I have some dungeon tiles I would like to paint up and I have mostly Reaper Paints. What is a good color scheme for stone work? I have seen some good ones online but the colors they use don't translate well to Reaper paints. So i was hoping someone had a good "formula" so to speak. I would prefer a gray/bluish gray look but I am open to other schemes. Thanks.
strawhat
Well, Reaper has some greys. If you are wanting bluish greys, then I think that Storm Grey, Cloudy Grey, Rainy Grey, and Misty Grey are where you might want to start. Pure Black and Pure White can be used to take those shades down or up a notch while keeping a consistent appearance. Craft paints often work just as well as miniature paints for scenery and things like dungeon tiles, and they're more economical.
Painting Dog
Honestly, I use crafts paints almost exclusively on stone terrain pieces. As mentioned, it's cheaper, but it also tends to be thicker and so nice for drybrushing bigger pieces (which is mostly what I do for those).

I am not finding anything that looks right?
Inarah
Do you have a picture for inspiration? You can load it into the Power Palette, and it will suggest color matches. https://www.reapermini.com/powerpalette
strawhat
Plaid (purveyor of Apple Barrel, Folk Art, and Ceramcoat) has a website that's only slightly clunky. The last time I was there they had some odd gaps in their stock, but you never know what you can find at the local big box craft store. Personally, I've used Ceramcoat's Black, Charcoal (there's honestly not much difference between the two), Deep Taupe, Rain Grey, and White for the doors and other stony bits in the recent HeroQuest re-release.

Craft paints are cheap enough that you should get a range (at least three of each) of grey and brown. Spray prime with grey, and look up Les Bursley's wash if you want to DIY some black (or even grey) wash. I'm assuming you have a ton of dungeon tiles to paint to tabletop? Are these the Dungeon and Lasers tiles? I have some videos on my "Advance to Tabletop" YouTube channel, although they're more as buying guides than painting.
ferret
Like most responders, I use craft paints for much of my scenery, However, It I am doing a large area of stone floor and walls, I often use flat latex wall paint. The Hirst Arts website has good instructions for painting its castle blocks with latex paint and provides the formula to use when getting the paint mixed. DocPiske
Prime/basecoat black or dark blue-gray, heavy dry brush medium gray, light dry brush with an ivory. Use a wash of black and brown thinned with acrylic medium or PVA glue and water.
