June 19th QotD:

Got lost on time, watching a bad movie (Shrek Forever After).... When was the last time you "lost time" doing something?

(also Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there in the world & Happy Juneteenth as well.)

Lost time, this morning...

Debatable whether I was doing something or not.

All the time. Disappearing in a reverie of day dreams is one of the joys of imminent senility.

Besides miniatures, do you collect anything?

Dust... mostly dust. 20 years ago, comic books and various RPGs or related material.

Today, I have no other growing collection aside from miniatures and paints (over 400 colours!). And calling them collections when most are hidden away in crates is being generous.

What he said works for me too. My paint collection is very slowly growing and the mini collection fairly fast.

Injuries? Broken bones, surgeries... and to avoid more of those I seem to be acquiring more shoes for specialty tasks. Just bought a pair of roofing shoes so I can clean some gutters and do some house painting in areas where a ladder won't grant access.

Fun things that I collect? I like perusing for hardback books at used book stores. Always wanted a home library with a high-back leather chair so I can sit there like I'm about to read a tale on Masterpiece Theater.

You beat me to it. Though I'm doing much better at dispatching that collection.

I seem to collect food. Blame it on the Church, blame it on my upbringing--I'm turning into my mother. She has 3 freezers full of heaven knows what. I only have one, but it is full of meat. Seriously, I have to consciously tell myself not to buy anymore meat when I go shopping. The pantry isn't as bad, I've been slowly eliminating stuff I no longer use much of, like pasta sauce. I cleaned out the baking cupboard and found eight or ten cake mixes, so I clearly have a problem.

I used to be a big AFOL, but I lost interest in it. I think what happened was that I was planning on cultivating the joy of Lego I had as a kid in my nieflings, but they are far too spoiled and irresponsible to inherit my collection. I am considering selling it piecemeal on the local buy and sell. I've got to get rid of it; no one uses it and I could use some cash and the the guests have been complaining there is no closet in the guest room.

I also have a substantial collection of Jurassic Park/World action figures. I have many of the original ones from the first film. I also have hundreds of dollars worth of the new ones. I don't collect paint variations, and if it's not a new sculpt I won't buy it. I also like the original humans a lot better than the Star Wars sized new ones. My collection is for playing with, so I don't have any limited edition figures, either.

DVD's.

Had a huge anime DVD collection that I mostly offloaded a few years ago, now (Thanks to a dirt cheap secondhand market) I'm slowly building up a second one of random movies.

Vintage firearms, I am a sucker for "mud puppies" that need to be repaired and brought back to use.

Too bad you're on the other side of the border. I have several interesting surplus rifles that my grandpa and uncle butchered. They shoot well enough but the stocks are atrocious and some of their "improvements" are pretty crude. The only ones I really want to keep is a Winchester 07 and sporterized Springfield 1903. Never sold the others because the resale value was low and never found anyone nearby who even wanted them for free..

Check out Boyd's Gunstocks. They make sporter stocks and might get some value back to the "Bubba'd" jobs from the 50s. Also, Richards Microfit Stocks.
