Besides miniatures, do you collect anything?

Books, fabric, crafting supplies, clothing patterns, fashion dolls, yarn, paint, art supplies.

Electrical cords, apparently.

June 23rd QotD:

Are you a clean or messy person?

Yes.

I cannot focus in a mess, but I have a hard time not having a mess, and the mess makes me depressed, so it grows while I feel more and more paralyzed by the mess.

June 24th - 26th QotD:

The Apocalypse is upon us!! What happened? How do you survive? What is your special "niche"?

(note: when I posted this, I was unaware of what happened in the USA this morning, just to be clear.)

I’m going to go with geomagnetic super storm, because I just read an article on that.

Electrical grids are down, because power companies prioritize profits over being prepared. Civilization has crashed because we don’t know how to function without electricity.

My niche is knowing how to make things: clothes, food, shelter, gardens, etc, without the use of electricity.

Did you hobby/game over the weekend?

Yes, we have a regular Rifts game most Saturdays. We had a big battle and I effed stuff up.

"Why won't you both let me trim your toe-nails without putting up a fight? You walk so much easier afterwards."

Our ancient grouch-puss hates having her nails trimmed. She can no longer maintain them herself, so we have to do it. And she hates it. Mumsy holds her in a cat burrito and I do the trimming. Mumsy: "Most girls like having their nails done." I couldn't stop laughing.

I have no pets…

Last time I interacted with pets they were someone else’s cats or dog. But here are three.

—Are you friendly?

—How did you get so tangled up buddy?

—Will ya hold still for me?

The dog answered (in doggo-speak) as follows and in order:

Yes

Please help me?

Okay…

June 29th Backstop QotD:

Do you use parchment paper when you cook or bake?  Or do you only use it in wet palettes for painting?

Very, very rarely. Mostly I use it for my homemade wet palette which I don't use all that often either. I tend to only break it out when I want to do finer work or blending.

I was using them for wet palette long before I remembered their original purpose.

Now I *do* use them as a liner for many things that go in the oven/toaster oven. It's far easier to clean up any drippings.

I use it for both. Have a box in the kitchen and a box in the hobby room.  Also use it in the sewing room, because some things can't be ironed directly.

Just for cooking! I actually use styrofoam plates if I don't have my actual wet palette going.

Both. Although I have not used the wet palette I built at all.

This was today’s brunch. It was a Marie Callendar (brand) frozen chicken pot pie. It comes with this weird, cardboard on the outside, silvery on the inside “pie tin”. I added the parchment paper.

If I were to follow the microwaving instructions on the box, the pie would wind up baked to its paper (microwave or oven ready!) so called, tin.  Then you end up having dig it out bit by bit. Very annoying.

But the parchment paper makes it possible to lift the pie out intact.

This ^ is possible ^ but only if some of the instructions are ignored as the idiocy they have proven to be.
